Kubay’ Malome Segale!

December 14, 2009 by

segaleSo Segale’s leaving MetroFM, bye!

Out of the thousands, if not millions of people who read that story, I doubt there are more than a handful who are sad and crying that he’s leaving the station. Even though they won’t go on record to admit it, I know the Metro FM DJ’s are also celebrating this exit.  Phela it is under Segale’s leadership that Metro FM got their “Spaza shop” nickname and I hope his exit means things will run more smoothly .

I’m sure he’s got experience & knowledge on radio, given his HISTORY but shem, he did NOTHING for me as a DJ on the Household so I couldn’t understand why he got to be Programmes Manager when he couldn’t even manage a show.

I will never forget (nor forgive ) that one episode where he had ALL his kids in studio and interviewing them, Lawd knows what for, and when (after he was made Programmes Manager) went to run things on Wilson B Nkosi’s show, uWilson ekhona! Ja that was 2008 already mara still…. unprofessional behaviour!

I’d like to wish Segale the best with his new venture, whatever it is and hopefully next on the chopping list will be that dreadful breakfast show!

Kenny Maistry (right) is such a nice guy shem and I think besides his awesome-for-jingles voice, his “niceness” is the biggest problem with the show. Haikhona shem, The Morning Jam is just NOT WORKING bra. There is no need to panic and call Thomas Msengana back, or fire Kenny Maistry completely. Just give Amon Mokoena the breakfast show, I bet he would do a stellar job on that slot and well, I guess they can let Kenny have the  3-6 am slot. Phela times are hard, let no one lose their jobs.

Amon and Thato (who produces The Morning Jam) have chemistry that goes back to their YFM days so my suggestion is to give them breakfast. They are not that young and they are also not old so the balance is there. Keep idlozi le Breakfast, uBBK on sports and they can keep Refiloe as their newsreader but let her be just that, a newsreader. Not a co-host like she currently is with Morning Jam, she mos co-hosts that Le bon what what show with Lupi. I like her there coz her voice and Lupi’s go well together. I think.

metroKenny is too nice and I just feel that, it’s his show and he should take in charge when necessary. I sometimes get the idea that he’s nervous too, like he’s doing the show but at the same time, checking that there aren’t any “incorrect” words being used..eish, i don’t know how to explain this but people who listen to the show will understand.

Another thing, I listen to a lot of Metro FM show and I have never heard any of the other DJ’s announce that the callers’ opinions do not represent those of Metro FM management, so why does he need to do that?? We know that, their advertisers know that so why is he acting like siqala ukubona iicallers nge show yakhe??

I am off topic neh? Heheheh anyway..

Kubayi Malume Segale & Metro FM please let me also say goodbye to Uncle Kenny on 31 March 2010!

The only good thing about Metro FM is Robert Marawa…the rest…YAWN.

    I don’t even bother with Kenny… Azania’s show sounds the same EVERYDAY…

Leko&Penny…laugh at their own stupid jokes.

Unathi bores me… Glen is gettin rusty… I feel sorry for Mel…

    CHANGE is needed…

Hayi goodbye to Segale he spoilt Metro FM programmes. That Kenny is a yawn. I used to wake up at 5:50 to listen to breakfast show of Metro FM when Thomas was still there. It was nice I enjoyed it. They were really a family as they called their show. They blended so well and they were not afraid to joke around with each other. And it was laughter all the way. It was really entertaining for me. That new breakfast show team killed that.

Metro FM breakfast show became a yawn. I think I tuned in twice to see if anything would be better the second time but nada. It was like I’m listening to one of these Cape Town radio station that I don’t really listen to because of… I’ll say it later. So I decided hayike Kenny Maistry you are giving me time to enjoy my sleep without setting the alarm to wake me earlier than I should.

If only they can bring back Thomas and his team bonke with abo Lupi, BBK, Naked and that newsreader but I would like them to change her to Vatiswa Ndara coz the family was really entertaining when she was part of it back when they were doing it between 12:00 – 15:00 before they went to Breakfast show. I really enjoyed their show shame.

Still on Metro FM programmes u Leko and Penny sound like they always want to outshine each other on that Reality show yabo. u Ausi ingathi ugade u Abuti angamthatheli’ndawo. She’s always interrupting Leko and sometimes uLeko yena wants to talk more that uPenny. I really don’t know what’s happening there. And u ausi still refers to the show as “my show” and I always lol. There was a time when Leko was not on the show and she sounded like she’s enjoying every minute of it. And I think u Penny should stop shouting so much in “her show” coz her voice already makes noise. But I like the way the do their show in terms of their features and everything.

I am sorry for an article within article. askies justcurious.

I guess it is going to be different strokes, because I found Thomas’s show a big YAWN. We had to listen to him talk about his family every morning.

eg. Him talking about Sinako’s nursery school and how it is the best, the helper trying to borrow Siphokazi’s cd…..hhhayi!!!

  8. MaGezA on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 7:24 pm

I have never had the privilege of listening to Mogotsi, but I have personal beef. Back in the late 90s when I was a come-up in the events game masquerading as DJ Motswako, this dude’s numba was thrown at me as “he who’s got the hookup”. So I asked him to get me Glen Lewis for a gig at Yeahbo in Cape Town. He calls me back and says Glen is not available but he can get me Bob Mabena (whose popularity as a crowd magnet was dead and cremated by that time). I declined and then cat let me know that I owe him R300 for faxing me the Bob Mabena quote. I ended the call.

I immediately knew this here was unsavoury and would never make it big on sheer talent and skill. Metro just proved me right.

I think Metro latched on to the formula that made Y blow up overnight, but did so just as Y’s star was starting to fade as well.. hence all this mist and nobody can seem to find their way..

  15. Brown Shuga on Tue, 15th Dec 2009 9:59 pm

LMAO @ R300 for faxing a quote you didn’t ask for ! Tjo!
