Suede’s Invictus Movie Review
December 10, 2009 by Brown Shuga

Invictus is a true South African story directed by Clint Eastwood and tells the story of Nelson Mandela and how he united South Africa through Rugby.
Now I’m not a rugby fan, but I remember the excitement in the country when the Springboks won the 1995 Rugby World Cup. I remember seeing images of Madiba holding up the trophy alongside Francois Pienaar but we didn’t know about all the stuff that went on behind the scenes, leading up to that moment and I think that’s what this story is about.
One of my favourite Tweeps, Suede went to the movie’s premiere, came back and tweeted about it so being the nice (or lazy, depending how you look at it) person I am, I thought it ‘d be nice to share what he tweeted with you. Â Apparently the movie is so good that we won’t even be bothered by that horrendous Morgan Freeman accent I heard on the Trailer!
Lemme shuttup so you can read what Suede tweeted! As you know ke, we read tweets from bottom to top

Tell me that doesn’t make you wanna go see the movie? Â Hayi shem, ubhuti has sold it to me with this review!

While we wait for Friday, here’s a video from The Times on what went down at the premiere!
The Movie Trailer
Looking foward to hearing your thoughts on Suede’s review, as well as what you think of the movie based on the trailer. I personally think the Trailer is a bit tame but ke that’s just my opinion!
Be heard!

I’m a Rugby fan and also a Morgan Freeman admirer – not so much Matt Damon -but he seems like he takes his job seriously so yeah this is a must-see.
Naturally I’ll be a tad judgmental regarding the accents and one or two things – but I was there in 1995 – this story is for the world and our children. If the story is told well – I won’t complain.

I enjoyed the movie. Even though Morgan’s accent is wack. I love Matt Damon shem…something about him… The movie made me respect Madiba even more…didn’t know that was possible.

As a South African and strong Springbok supporter, I thought that this movie was absolutely brilliant. Having been there for the actual game back in 1995 was something really special too. Check out the Invictus Facebook page where you can tag yourself in images of the 1995 World Cup finale if you were there: http://bit.ly/invictusrugby
