JZ’s Family Tree & Apology
February 6, 2010 by Brown Shuga
If you missed the Mail & Guardian’s detailed report on all of Zuma’s kids, check it out HERE. They were nice enough to create this family tree, which sortsa put the picture into perspective. They only counted up to 19 kids though, so where’s the 20th? Maybe I’ll claim to be one. Ummm seems there’s a 30 year old Zim boy who’s beat me to it *ahem*

Our President has since apologized for baby number 20: Here’s the apology…
PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA’S STATEMENT ON THE IMPACT OF EVENTS OF THE PAST WEEK
“I have over the past week taken time to consider and reflect on the issues relating to a relationship I had outside of wedlock.
The matter, though private, has been a subject of much public discussion and debate. It has put a lot of pressure on my family and my organisation, the African National Congress. I also acknowledge and understand the reaction of many South Africans.
I deeply regret the pain that I have caused to my family, the ANC, the Alliance and South Africans in general.
I reiterate that I took responsibility for my actions towards the family concerned and the child.
I reaffirm my commitment and that of my movement to the importance of the family as an institution. I also reaffirm my commitment and that of my movement to the values of personal responsibility, respect and dignity.
I recognise the responsibility of leaders to uphold and promote these values at all times. “
So, is his apology accepted?

They forgot to mention Nkosazana, the other daughter named after her mother, the minister.

apology not accepted- it lacks a LOT of sincerity its like hes doing it coz hes obligated to. I had to read it thrice tryna be more objective bt no kuyala, we not as stupid as he seems to think we are.
Again hes missing the point! Hes not mentioning all the important things.
Those who think Zuma has a private life, including him r way off the par. No person who occupies the highest seat in the world shud think theres anything private abt his life, he lost that ryt when he was very busy khankasaring for our Votes. His life must be very much open to public scrutiny ethanda engathandi akujiki.

NONSENSE! This is NOT an apology. It’s an insincere admission of guilt. The tone is far too distant from being apologetic.
TKSM on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 4:03 am
Ja our people need to be educated to be more factual. Technically our president has done harm to no one but his family. Also there is nothing new about what he has done. To top that he humbler himself and apologises. Well i say apology accepted!

First & foremost: THIS IS NOT AN APOLOGY.There is no where in the statement (which I read 5x) that he says “I apologise”. Does the following phrases mean apology? “…acknowledge and understand the reaction…” & “…deeply regret the pain…” because thats all he says. I think either one of us (we, the public or him) must go back 2 school…oh since he’s never been there I think its high time he enrols 4 Grade R!!!
Jikka on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 1:17 pm
Tjo,,,the family tree surely got long branches.
Since its a sunday and im in that spirit,,,apology accepted, but he better take better care of that magic stick of his.

*chuckling lazily*….
Ssso!…Mr President started lashing out..now he is “apologising”.
Now, the AnCYL following Juju’s condemnation of those who discussed the elderly’s private issues, “issued a statement saying it abided by its long-standing approach that abstinence was the best defence against HIV”
I may not be fooled and confused about all this see saw of perspectives/messages from the rulling party or tripartie alliance…..but i certainly feel sorry for those who will be confused and led astray by all this…
I just thought today by the million poor who voted Zuma to presidensy hailing him as a man of the people who identifies bla bla bla..therefore he’ll deliver for the…yada ya…The sad thing is what they did is just put him at a position were his big family is being lavishly taken care of,while they are still hustling waiting to see him make a difference??
Anyway…in an effort to be onjective about Mr President let me try to comment on his not so much in the spotlight (bad media) presidential duties beside all this “private/personal” issues/scandals…”
What was the outcome of the Davos conference?….
Anybody know how his reception in the western cape ahead of the state of the nation address was…? cant wait for that…

“REGRET,REITERATE,REAFFIRM(x2),RECOGNISE”…aaah yaaas Mr President has got the thesaurus on speed dial ne
I’m with Jabu on this one-the public has nothing to accept because no apology has been made, all that was done in this statement was to simply rewrite the first one disguised in new vocubulary, with a hell lot more defensiveness.A regret is not an apology, it is just an attempt to absolve oneself from the consequenses of guilt.
@ TKSM, Ja technically no one ever really does anything wrong especially in the modern context of “my life my rules ( in his case My life My willy) etc”, however what holds respectable peolple accountable are the ethics of society, self respect and the positions we hold in society as mothers, fathers, employees, priests etc and for JZ as a president of a country. What he has done may not be new but it doesn’t make it acceptable because of that.Public scrutiny comes with the teritory of being a president especially if in the past you have opened your mouth about values, responsible relationships etc.
On a general South Africans accepted the President’s multiple legitimate marriages because most people recognise that polygamy was part of his culture etc-what people are revolting against is the clear abuse of trust in the name of culture that he is using.

With regards to the article in the Mail and Guardian I highly suggest that the journalists of the article about the number of kids Zuma has should check their sources of information profoundly. I am a close friend of the family and was highly upset at how wrong the information published in the article. Yes President Zuma may have a number of children and I don’t think he is hiding them I think I know that some of them choose to stay out the public eye. The first mistake made was Saying Saadi was the eldest of the children of Zuma’s late wife he is not the biological father of this child and is his late wife’s eldest child from before she meet Zuma. Secondly of Nkosazana’s children Gugu is not in fact the eldest child as she has an older sister Nkosazana then Gugu then Thuli and Thuthukile is the last born. Thuli was born in 1987 and not 1988 as she celebrated her 21st in 2008. Pume the daughter he had with his late wife was also born in 1987 as she too celebrated her 21st in 2008. Then as for Thuthukile if she is in her 4th year at Wits and was born in 1990 meaning she would be turning 20 in April this year means she would have been 16 when she matriculated meaning when did she start school? She was born in 1989. Nkosazana and Zuma have no child called Msholozi. Oh and the fact that the publication was so desperate in getting a photo of Zuma’s kids that her facebook profile was used is appalling. I have always regarded the mail and guardian to have information that has been properly researched and am most definitely disappointed in the publication.
Sizo on Fri, 5th Mar 2010 11:33 pm
Um no Thuthu does not look like Dudu seeing Thuthu is a splitting image of her mother when Nkosazana was in her youth (apple doesn’t fall far from the tree). Dudu and Thuthu might share a dad but not mums so its kind weird to say they look alike if the one looks like her mum.
soul sista on Sun, 7th Mar 2010 9:28 am
I never understand peole sometimes.
People knew long time ago that Zuma has many wives and kids and still the voted for him to be president.
Now all of a sudden he must apologise, for what really?
Because even the Sonono’s child was concieved before he became pres.
Bathong, call me naive but I think there is no proboem with Zuma’s wedding and all that stuff because he did that looooong time ago and “everybody” knew that he is a poligamist/player/whatever. But then if he had these wives and kids after April 2009 then I see the wrong part of it.
