FLY The Flag

The 100 Day Countdown to the 2010 Fifa World Cup™ begins tomorrow, 02 March 2010 & gives us all a chance to demonstrate our excitement for the tournament that’s about to go down in our backyard.

The day is called National Fly The Flag Day and come midday tomorrow, we’re all encouraged to drop whatever we’ll be doing gather around to sing the national anthem & fly our flag high in celebration of that moment…

FLY

Hayi… mina I don’t know if I’ll be doing that coz “espanini ba styf kancane” (LOL) but those of you who can and work in “cool” companies that buy you Football Jerseys to wear for Football Friday and all, then yeah, wear your Bafana Bafana jersey to work ksasa, sing the national anthem, blow your Vuvuzela and do the Diski Dance heheh.

If you don’t know the steps, don’t worry, they’ve even made an instructional video hehehe.

I’m sure you’ve seen the official Diski Dance Commercial… not our “best” work but here it is….

If you are free tomorrow, you can also join in one of the many “National Fly The Flag Day” events that will be taking place across the country.

The Diski dance ad is cool – but the moves are complicated – my two left legs will not be able to execute those moves.

I wish they had something simpler for the fans. Our nation is diverse and eish some people take longer to learn this stuff.

We’ll be flying the flag at Moses Mabhida tomorrow evening!

I got in the taxi this morning rocking my Bafana shirt and SA flag cap and one guy said “Hayi kuyabonakala ukuthi i2010 seyisondele” and everyone laughed and commented about how people refer to it as if 2010 is only gonna start in June. Big up to my taxi driver for flying the flag!
