Now, I’m not just saying this coz he’s my homeboy, (born and bred in Welkom) or coz we used to sing together in sum group and neither am I saying this coz we were umm… friends for like a week in jr. high but damn, when last did you see such a creative and FRESH idea for a CD cover????
Yes folks, that’s the cover of MaxHoba (real name Maxhoba Maponya)‘s new album, Making History and I can’t believe how beautiful it is…
I haven’t heard the album yet but he’ll be performing at the Blues Room, Village Walk Sandton on Thursday 22 April 2010 from 7:30 pm and I hope I will be able to go check him out. Err…if u are free...*hint hint*
Mzansi first paid attention to Maxhoba when they wondered who the guy behind the vocals on HHP’s Harambe was… but I first got to know him back when he and Tebogo Moloto (Jazzworx) & Sizwe Mabena (SABC Sports) used to sing Boyz II Men & their favourite “Lately” by Jodeci while we, (me and my 2 friends Palesa & Bulelwa) would be either En Vogue, SWV or our favourite Salt n Pepa. LOL gosh, I’m so old!
Anyway, those were the days… I forgot to mention that Sizwe couldn’t (& still can’t) sing to save his life so he would always do the “Mike” part of Boyz II Men songs… tl tl tl tl.
Anyway, just wanna abuse this platform, holla at all my boys and tell them I’m so proud of their achievements! Wish MaxHoba all the best with his new album. He’s a very talented and very disciplined musician, I’m positive he’ll do well. Also a big shout out to Sizwe, who’ll be commentating for the first time in a soccer World Cup! Keep flying that flag boys!

Eish i am still hooked on that xhosa track he did yrs back.i cant remember the title but it goes like “wemnto mkhulu mamela” jah that song is deep he even performed it on LIVE during Andile days..Max i need that track,lets hope u included it in yo album.
