Leon Schuster In On the World Cup Fever!
May 7, 2010 by Brown Shuga
Leon is back with yet another silly/entertaining/hilarious (depending how you look at it) movie and this one is called “Survival Guide To South Africa”. The movie will be released nationwide on 28 May 2010. I don’t know what it is about this day but it seems everything is happening then… There will however be pre-release screening days scheduled in cities around the country.
A bit about the movie:
SCHUKS’S TSHABALALA’S SURVIVAL GUIDE TO SOUTH AFRICA is a combination of dramatic narrative and traditional candid camera gags unleashed on a new group of unsuspecting Schuster victims. Leon is incarnated in the lead as Schuks Tshabalala. Shot largely on location in Cape Town and surrounds, Leon plays himself and an array of alternate characters alongside his trusty sidekick “Shorty” (Alfred Ntombela). They are part of the 2010 tourism campaign, tasked with assisting tourists who are in the process of planning their visits to South Africa. The story is littered with all sorts of mishaps and belly laughs, in line with what fans have come to expect of Leon Schuster over the last few decades.
The tourists and students who are attending class with Schuks are a motley crew of all kinds of characters from all over the world. For the most part, they are the typical representations of each country and have some hysterical one-liners and questions they pose to Schuks throughout the film. Some are naughty, but mostly all are nice and totally impressed with the wonderful Schuks and Shorty, as they travel through the city to learn more about South Africa.
Personally, I’ve outgrown Leon’s kinda humour so his movies don’t appeal to me anymore but I admire him for always coming back year after year with something that gets people talking. The man is smart and he deserves some level of respect for his part in trying to entertain the masses. Yes, some say his movies are racist but hey, South Africans say that about flies too so … *shrug*

i go watch his movies and then I sit there watching while everyone is laughing and i dont get the joke at the same time I can understand why they are laughing…he’s just not for me..and the toilet humor, the bumping onto things, being sprayed with water, or some such antics..He’s equivelant to the Wayans brothers who continuously make stupid-mindless-slapstick comedies, with no direction/creativity/or any sense…but STILL MAKE Millions…SMH some things dont make sense..lol

Can anybody tell me why this guy always has to play the part of a stupid black man/woman? Never the same for his own people.
I’m very suspicious of boers like him. He thinks everything blacks do is funny/stupid. My 2 cen’t worth. Could be that i’m just being sensitive, mara i’ll skip this and any of his future movies.

eish eish eish… Why is this man still making stupid slap-stick, “I like the part where it went ‘boom’!” type of films, and then the people who watch them… Come on! Couldn they have gotten Kagiso, David Kau, Trevor Noah, I MEAN the PMS GANG, use your imagination… ACTUAL COMEDIANS. Why him?
