Ghana Flies African Flag

In case of many casualties don’t be quick to write the same obituary for all the patients while still undergoing through an operation. Leave space for operation results.
This is the lesson I had to learn after writing off all African countries participating in the World Cup. One of the writers said when referring to Bafana Bafana, “successful operation but the patient’s still died”. Ghana were still going to face Germany with whom they stood no chance, their survival largely remained in the hands of Australia playing a draw or winning against Serbia but with low score, as four goals would ve seen Australians through if they didn’t concede.
Serbia was a point behind Ghana but needed a win in their encounter with Australia as the draw would ve still put Ghana through on superiority, due to their early victory with Serbia. Any goal Germany scored against Ghana was reducing the Australian tally & increasing their chances of advancing. But the Black Stars did well in defending and conceding only one goal, while Socceroos could only manage to score two against Serbia.
The stakes were high against USA, Black Stars find themselves being the only continent representatives. Their game was a grudge match since they knocked out USA in the previous World Cup, Germany 2006 but that gave an upper hand to their. USA was not only about revenge, Americans are fighting to earn a reputation in the soccer field and their victory would have seen Barack Obama rearranging his domestic affairs if he was to fulfil the promise that he’ll join come and cheer the team if they reach quarter finals. Their exit reduces security nightmares about their possible off the field attack or even stadium explosion by Al-Qaida.
Ghana’s victory makes them a third African country to reach quarter finals of the tournament and they’re also under 20 World Champions.
They are still facing a tough task ahead but in football anything is possible. This tournament has shown us that reputation means nothing; every country is here to make history to put themselves somewhere in the football map. Lots of records have been set and broken within two weeks of the kickoff as the show goes on lots more can still happen. Ghana has shown some African pride and must go out there and show the world that World Cup is not the monopoly of South Americans or European country teams.

Tjo Ghana made us proud I thought I was going to lose interest to this World Cup after Bafana were taken out but Ghana changed that. I also noticed that they have some hotties in their team daayyym!! Prince Boeteng and Ayew that is some hotness right there, I kept on looking for them in that tough match on Tuesday LOL. Nice one Ghana and congrats for making it to the last eight now we hope you will make it to the semis my fingures are crossed. They’ve really made Africa proud and we thank them like some people have said, Ghana made Africa unite. Looking forward to the next game against Uruguay.

A victory for Ghana is a victory for Ghana first – but then it also spreads across all borders to the rest of Africa.
I’m proud of Ghana – and I don’t feel guilty about it!
All those people who are accusing SOUTH AFRICANS of being hypocrites who burn foreigners one day and cheer for them the next day are taking it a bit too far.
Yes, that label fits for thousands who were perpetrators of violence against our African brothers and sisters – but that shouldn’t be used to silence millions of us who were outraged by these acts.
Please allow us to celebrate Africa’s achievements without judging us based on European standards etc. If English fans choose not to cheer for Germany,Spain or other European standards – that’s not my problem.
I hope Ghana will go on to beat Uruguay by 2-1.
