What A Beautiful Concert! Well Done FIFA!
June 11, 2010 by Brown Shuga
Wow, I’m speechless! This was such a stunning way to Kick off the World Cup! I totally enjoyed the concert and it really set the mood now we hope the boys will do the same tomorrow!
Shakira was great, this lady moves man and I love her energy on stage. She looked like a totally sweet person!
Mr JL was there in his usual “2 sizes smaller” clothes! He gave a nice performance but I wasn’t paying attention coz I’ve seen him like 20 times already.. he needs to chill now before he bores us like Akon.
…and chilling with cubs when he got to Mzansi… He says it bit him.
The mommy to be was looking awesome!!!!! I love this woman and I was so proud when she replaced New York with “Joburg” in Empire State of Mind… so sweet man!
Moving her hips!
It was an amazing thing to experience!
I feel it! It’s Here!
Lira almost had a wardrobe malfunction but oooh, what a stunning outfit she had on. If you missed her, check her out here performing with Bra Hugh
And here’s Shakira performing “She Wolf” at the concert…
And the official video of Waka Waka…
Just wanted to say damn! Whatta concert!
& thanks to the JC bloggers for the updates on the Live blog, it’s okay, you don’t have to repeat what you’ve already said lol

K’naan really rocked.
Bee on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 2:35 am
Hah um glad i’ve missed it Gosh. Had a great tym in Monte Casino with Mexican tourists learning how to blow the Vuvuzela coz they say they know about our strategy and Soweto gospel was just cool. Anyways i like that pic kaShakira holdin a mic you can tell nje by the way shes standing that shes doing a snake move.
Brown Shuga on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 2:36 am
Hahah Madala!!!!!
Bee on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 2:40 am
Kwa@Madala that song was never alive especially to me. The song that has been alive since was Waving flag by my man Knaan.
Madala on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 2:45 am

Hi BS *wink wink*
soul sista on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 2:50 am
LOL, I think the wakawaka song was a sabotage, the mics were failing them just like Ras Dumisani. really I couldnt hear Zolani when she started, kannte tlheng it was a sabotage… *dead* I still love it though
Madala on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 2:59 am
Talking bout sound & pic quality…. SABC has gone all out 4 this WC… they had the best sound & pic…. Supersport was like Africa Magic this time, and was running abot 7.5 minutes behind SABC 1
Madala on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 3:01 am
The only irritating thing on SABC 1 was those multitudes of adverts…
LOL on sabotage conspiracy theory…. waka-waka yabheda just nje… no hand of Ras D ther…lol lol lol
Brown Shuga on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 3:34 am

Madala on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 3:54 am
I agree… Shakira was fab, and she was waging the booty… but it’s her who was gr8, not the song…….
makgotso on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 7:55 am

Kiki on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:02 am
tweettweet I am here, let’s all sing ‘when I get older I will be stronger they’ll call freedom just a WAVIN FLAG’ That is a real song, not that stupid waka waka. It should have been a rhyme that you teach kids at creche during physical education not a world cup song. Besides why are Americans singing about Africa? What do they know besides BEADs n ANIMALs? SMH.
Kiki on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:06 am
I sooooo agree with Madala,uShakira is a great performer but that Waka Waka song does nothing!
soul sista on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:16 am
“It should have been a rhyme that you teach kids at creche during physical education not a world cup song.”…waphapha Kiki
Nomfacey on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:19 am
I must admit I had slight reservations about Lira’s lyrical prowess…she gave me goosebumps with her rendition of Pata-Pata…nkosi, u bra Hugh…drugs done did him good if he’s glowing like that! K’naan moved me to tears…his performance was so sincere! Waka -waka is growing on me…Big Nuz could have stayed on stage a bit longer, Mandoza could have done Nkalakatha and Pro Kid could have done Soweto!
Monti on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:21 am
lol@Lira’s dress almost falling apart!!!
kanene whoes tht girl frm black eyed peas?yho she looked like she ws realy realy cold.ebe stiff
nicky manaj on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:33 am

Vesa on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:49 am
Was at the concert and loved every moment of it. The sound at the stadium was purfect!!! We even danced to the Al qaeda’s songs as they had a nice beat to their songs! It started at 4, and a lot of local acts performed before the tv broadcast. Not a hip hop fan, but Tumi and his white band was on fya!
Kiki on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:57 am
I have never heard of an African artist singing about America and getting sooo much attention from the Obamas like Shakira is getting apha. Feel free to give me names guys, I stand to be corrected.
SS inbox me on fb tu,we need to talk.
Monchooza on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 8:59 am
Shakira was the star of the show for me….she was seriously performing hayi indaba yokudlala
Nalizo on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 9:07 am
I absolutely love Waka Waka…I love it.
TT on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 9:18 am
My impression of the show,…
Black Eyed Peas created an atmosphere that was too much for the artist to follow,..I went like,..aren’t they supposed to be towards the end in the line-up…I mean the whole thing started to get boring after they left the stage,..but when Vusi Mahlasela came on stage,..It was live again,..Then JL did his thing and the show had some fluidity until the moment before Shakira came in,..All in all I was entertained,….I wonder how many chicks JZ catched last night,..*LOL*….
TL on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 9:25 am

Cleve2 on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 9:51 am
And please leave John Legend alone. That is one guy loves this country for REAL. He came here when his music is still VERY appreciated around the world. Unlike abo RKelly opportunists who come here when no else is giving them attention. Cashing in on World Cup songs. I will go every concert he has in SA.
tweetweet on Fri, 11th Jun 2010 10:36 am
Tjoo Shakira’s waka waka is in my head 24/7 love it too.. Highveld did me best with it..

Soffie I soooo agree with you . That R Kelly is brilliant. I listened to it properly today when he performed and I fell in love with it..reminds me of his Storm Is Over.

Busi on Sat, 12th Jun 2010 7:45 am
I love waka waka! It’s a cool song & Shakira’s strange voice works kuyo- she is a great perfomer. I didnt catch BEP’s first perfomance bt is it just me who felt that Fergie was suffering vocally at the end when all musicians were on stage? ebe kritsheka usisi shame, Lira was spectacular. K’naan, yo, I’m getting his album- iwesi ba the song was re-written for Coke, its actually about his struggles growing up in Somali at the height of civil war, very sad yet inspirational lyrics. I agree- it shud be the anthem-not Waka waka- tho I love waka waka!
