Zizo’s Star On The Rise

On Thursday night I braved the Joburg cold weather and headed to some farm near Lanseria airport where cosmetic brand Garnier was revealing the latest Mzansi Celeb to join them as the face of some of their products. By now I’m sure you’ve heard that former Miss Teen SA and Selimathunzi Presenter Zizo Beda is the Lucky girl!
The do was attended by the usual Jozi night life suspects and no prize for guessing why; alcohol was flowing and there was plenty of food to feed everyone so no one had to worry about dinner back in our homes, not that there’s any food to go back home to!
It was refreshing to see Zizo’s predecessor and generations actress Connie Ferguson along side hubby Shona! For someone who just turned 40 Mrs Ferguson doesn’t look a day over 21!
Still on the subject of people who don’t look their age; socialite and rich old men magnet Khanyi Mbau also graced the event looking like a 50 year old “gugo thandayo” Cougar! I guess dealing with the pressures of old men can do that to you! Its about time she endorsed a facial product as well, maybe she might look like her 24 year old self again!
Slikour the ventilator was amongst the last to leave, wonder if the orange juice look-a-like drink which he kept re-filling had anything to do with it! Someone please tell him I still have AA’s contact details!
Former Miss South Africa and Sundowns marketing manager Joan Ramakgoshi also made an appearance. For a beautiful woman of her calibre, one would think smiling was a prerequisite kodwa nix uSistas has her eye set on being Miss IceQueen South Africa, she can learn a lot from Thulane Hadebe of Brand Ambassadors; who was also there! The sweetest thing in eGoliwood at the moment!
Zizo gave a warm speech, it’s evident that the young lady was brought up well but one thing I fail to understand is why Garnier dragged us from the glamorous side of Joburg to the rural outskirts of Gauteng? Is it perhaps because Zizo has got a farm girl looks? A lot of these other girls with bought hair and fake nails also endorsing beauty products can learn a thing or two from her! Very humble that Zizo girl!
Remember Namhla Ndlovu? Former Channel O VJ who was also axed by 20Something for not looking the part? I see what they were trying to avoid! She has since gained a lot of weight I wonder if there’s a gym next to her house, that’s if she hasn’t moved to Diepsloot, phela she just popped up of no where maybe she stays nearby!
There were very few celebrities at the event I got bored chatting to industry random folk who I won’t mention in fear of being victimized! But a shout out to the girl who sings the Rhythm City opening sequence! She seemed a bit out of it!
Thanks to Garnier for the goodie bag! I am sure my mom will love it! And to Tracey for the invite! Next time please allocate a budget for a proper Dj!

Congratulations to Zizo Beda siyambongela. I like her with that so called “farmish look”. It’s her style just like those who prefer weaves than natural hair and everyone has their own style. Connie and hubby are looking good and sometimes one can’t tell she is older than her hubby unlike Khensani Nkosi and Zam. Slikour nice smile lol.

LOL Bee this thing of dancers wanting to dance for their music iyaxhaphaka now in our SA music industry. People think just because they can dance they can also make albums even though they cant sing because they know they are just going to dance their way to gigs. I think these recording companies are also encouraging this coz I just don’t understand why they would record a person who can’t sing and still expect people to take their SA music industry serious while they themselves don’t. Its really annoying, that is why some people choose to listen to alot of international music. I think mna uKhabonina uzithathel’ ama-chance nje just like other dancers abadlala iLOTTO. I can also agree with you on the “staying relevant part” maybe she just want to be out there showing her dance moves seeing that dancers don’t only want to dance for other artists who can sing these days. I just wonder who buy those albums. We know some of them make money out of gigs only if they are not booked for gigs that means no money for them.

@ Cheesa you are so right, It is actually pathetic. The song is kinda okay, NOT okay, just kinda when it is a music video coz you can mute the volume and just see her dance, what are we epected to do when the song is on radio, basijwayela kabi ka nnete.
On another note you get people who can sing beautifully but they go and mess it up for themselves by dressing like skunks or not getting dressed at all. SMH
Kwaaaa @ mamadahli, you know that nose used to bother me for a very long time until I decided to make peace with it, now I have accepted it and learned to live with it, not that it is on my face.

Haaaahahahaha!! Fruitcake and Mamadahli I have gotten used to that nose as a result I don’t notice it now LOL. When he was starting out with Skwatta Kamp first thing I noticed was that nose and I would be like Nkosi yam this guy uzosigqibela umphemfulo with that nose but now I’m cool it shem tltltltl.
