Mean Girls Party With Lucia & Zama!

Lucia Mthiyane & Zama Ngcobo’sbirthday party invite said fabulosity in stilettos. That was reason enough for us to climb on our towering Azzedine Alaïa Stilettos and get into our Herve Leger mini dresses. (think Victoria Beckham)

On arrival at ZAR (the Gautrain station Raddison hotel) we could tell that it was a Durbanites function. There were more jeans and floral shirts than happy hour at Cafe de la soul.

The first person we saw was Generations’ Winnie Modise, we are sure she left the Generations set in Khethiwe’s wardrobe nuffsaid!. Ex Scandal actress Rami Chuene was wearing a rainbow flavoured ice cream colour top and mom jeans Chinatown chic.

Busisiwe Lurayi (of city ses’la) looked fabulous in a black shift dress, leather belt with black and colourful ribbons stilettos.


From the it was a fashion downwards spiral.

We saw actor/presenter/musician Phila in a refuse bag biker jacket, white shirt and red tie. A look that can only be described as Amagay ase Wesile.

Linda Moeketsi in vinyl suit that made him look like Zar’s maitre d.

Penny Lebyane moved back to Soweto with her fashion sense. A cropped red coat and a floral skirt. (I puked into an ice bucket).

Babalwa Mneno was already in bed when she remembered the party. She came in a satin night dress a denim skirt.

Kuli Roberts was a combo of chief mourner and brothel madame in a long black dress with a thigh high slit on the side and black  knee high snake skin boots. (Widow’ho)

The hostessess arrived fashionably late, with Lucia looking like curtains from a big house yase Mlazi. Zama kwamashu RDP house curtains.

Somizi Mhlongo and friend came in all clad in black leather looking like they escaped from the Matrix 5 set.

Sophie Ndaba graced the party with presence in a scariest shredded mini dress, a mixture of leopard, tiger, snake and only God knows what print.

It was one of the most fabulous parties we’ve attended this spring. Partying with the Mandelas the Zumas, of course Moet, Vauve and Cristal wERE flowing. Fancy finger foods kept on coming. Tira, Siyanda and Ras forced us to seek permanent residency on the dance floor till the early hours of the morning.
