Popstars Auditions In Jozi

After realising that I need humour in my life, I ended up attending the Popstars auditions in Maponya Mall-Soweto on Sunday.
My word, people can’t sing out there hey, like why the torture and the embarrassment on national TV? I guess I will never understand that but at least they get to appear on TV even though they make a fool of themselves.
Oh I was pissed off at the fact that I ate at home, I didn’t think we gonna have free food. Eish I shouldn’t have but anyway there’s always a next time.
One thing that people should take note when doing these auditions is that they should remain as original as possible, we already have Mandoza or sis Rebecca so there is no use to imitate them. Their dress code didn’t say “We want to be the next popstars”, this is not only about your voice but the way you dress and your confidence.
Tjo one of my favourite moments was when some girl sang “umangihamba nawe thuli, ubizwa yiphikoko” LOL I mean really now? In 2010 nogal? Hai.
What I like about Popstars is that you get constructive criticism from the judges; Azania Ndoro, PJ Powers and Zwai Bala. It helps the contestants to improve or work on the silly mistakes they tend to make.
“My lowest moment was when some girl came 3 times to audition after being rejected and it’s not even allowed, she was just persistent” said Azania. Mabhebeza how low can you go? I mean being rejected once is enough to bruise my ego, but thrice? No ways.
Martin from Ghetto lingo and Jackie from Jamali were also there.
They managed to entertain their groupies; they were nice to them and made them feel a bit comfortable.

Martin is the presenter of the show. And it’s JACQUI. The Jamali girls are part of the team that brought Popstars back through their Mzansi company. I heard that Jozi was the worst of the cities they have been to, with Cape Town having the best talent so far.

Is it me or does PJ Powers look ill? I’m looking forward to watching Popstars even though we ALL know the end result of the final group!
But I’m really proud of people like Jamali and Pam Andrews who have that never-say-die attitude & are still going strong today..Kanti what does it take to be a success as a group in SA?It’s tough out there
