LIVE vs Club808 War Goes Too Far!

The arrival of Club 808, the music show on eTV seems to have ruffled some LIVE feathers!
As a Friday night TV viewer, the addition of this new show to my regular viewing is great news! The show is on point… fast paced, beautiful set (they won an award for this), fresh videos, cool inserts & stunning presenters.
LIVE on the one hand has 3 young and talented hosts, a HUGE following and 30 minutes more than Club 808. Even though they can’t play music videos due to the R28 million SABC allegedly owes to the Recording Industry of SA, they are trying their best to deliver a good show each week. Besides the fact that Minnie does nothing but read tweets, that they refer to old videos as exclusives (a word, I hear comes from the powers that be) there isn’t much to complain about…
Club 808 airs on eTV at 19:30 and LIVE on SABC 1 at 21:00 meaning they are not competing for audiences so WHY ARE THE PRESENTERS (4 of whom work for YFM) BEEFING?
As much as I enjoy watching drama unfold on Twitter, I have to say … this LIVE vs Club 808 mini tiff is CHILDISH! There is enough space on my TV for the both of y’all and whether I prefer one over the other, I would still watch you both coz the shows are on at different times. So, what is the huge deal?
Strangely… I could smell there was drama coming much earlier in the day, yesterday. Dineo, for whatever reason hasn’t been doing her drive time show on YFM and Bonang stood in for her. Yesterday, someone else did the show though, which prompted the following tweet from a user called @fandahh:” No disrespect but Dineo Live On Drive without Dineo and Bonang is pap”.
Dineo replied by saying that s/he was wrong, the show was pap without her, period. See tweet below…
Come 9pm, it’s time for LIVE and Bonang shocks the viewers AND her co-host Sizwe by saying :
“We’re giving you 808 more reasons to stay tuned to LIVE”
(something along those lines)
Tjo! Firstly the shock on Sizwe’s face was priceless! Then Twitter started buzzing… it was clear she was dissing Club 808!
Smart or Dumb move? I bet she feels it was a dumb move… especially after her YFM colleague and Club 808 host Mo Flava tweeted the following in response to her “808 punchline”
OUCH! Low blow from Mo and it was totally unnecessary… I will leave it to you to decipher that.
Dineo rounded the “war” off ….
*sigh*
Guys… please… consider what I just said… there’s no need to beef but if you decide you want to carry on then beef like professionals and always keep the Indian proverb in your heads : “There is nothing noble in being superior to some other person. The true nobility is in being superior to your previous self.” and actually the Italians said it best:
“After the game the King and pawn go into the same box.”
Please kids… you should all be celebrating the success of YFM DJ’s on Television, come now, let’s play nice! Mama loves you all

Whoop whoop im the 1st 2 coment. i honestly think that Mo does not cut it as a Tv presenter he shud stick 2 radio. Sizwe yenna tries 2 hard. izindaba ze beef dont know Y coz they work 2geda. Y was dineo not at work 4 a week? Minnie deserves more she is one beautiful being.

@Jellytot thats funny! they must stop beefing, both nice shows with a few blunders, i have on concern. I feel like Minnie and Bonang are the same person, why didnt they get someone diff from B. But at least they are trying. Club 808 is cooool, live too.
But mark my words…WHEN BONANG LEAVES LIVE..(WHICH SHE OBVIOUSLY IS) LIVE IS OVER!!! I feel like the other presenters look talented becoz of Bonang, imagine LIVE without her.
Siz and Minnie as hot= FAIL.
Bonang should leave tho, she’s been there forever. Very talented tho.

I meant as hosts=fail, only because they dont hold they own and rely on Bonang so much. PS: Bonang looked amazing and understated for once. So Bonang Less is more sisi. When u look to much, its too much. But yesterday u looked good.

Now back to the article,i think management at Y needs to take portion of the blame for what is happening. The inconsistencies in their decision making when it comes to discipline is breeding this kind of behavior.

Dineo is cool with Bonang (I think), because she’s tweeting her…besides I wouldn’t like it if they fighting because I like both of them!
Moflava was a bit harsh & if these colleagues have issues, I don’t think twitter or TV are the best platforms to solve them.

Regarding “Exclusive”, Sizwe did say it wasn’t anymore because he knew the video had been played on Club808 already. I give him props for being updated like that. And he was so hot. And KO too. Oh my! That boy! They gave me an idea for a sandwich. *winks*

I think maybe Bonang is gunning for Dineo/Mo’s radio slots…..just speculating here. I saw a tweet someone sent telling Bonang how good she is on radio and she should get a weekly slot. And Bonang RT and said she’s working on it. And we all know that the morning & afternoon slots are the most popular and DJ’s compete for those

@ FunkyFK I hear you, but then again are we 100% sure we want to hear the whole story. You mention Katlego Mphela the whole of SA comes out to claim they are married to him. The only consistent undisputed woman in his life is that Lindiwe Sondake (as mentioned in the Sunday World article). Remember around the June/July there was chicks coming out of the woodwork claiming to be his. There’s a girl in Cape Town who’s also convinced she is the one. Inzima lento.
