Lulo Cafe’s CD Launch Pics

October 4, 2010 by

As promised, I dragged my fellow bloggers Kiki, Lebza and XtraLarge to go check out Lulo Cafe’s CD Launch and we almost turned it into an informal JC family hookup.  The launch was held at Metro Restaurant in Benmore Gardens and it sounded a bit like a weird place to host a launch but we soon found out it wasn’t that bad, as it was held at their upstairs area. We almost had a bit of drama soon after arrival but the host, being the gentleman that he is, took good care of us and besides… who would be mad after being flashed with that smile!

The actual event was very low key… there weren’t that many celebrities at the do. It got me thinking about whether there is really genuine support for fellow artists’ projects in the industry? Do celebs flock to their “colleagues” events because of where they are held, whose party it is and how famous/monied they are? I’m curious to find out.

We had a great time though and we spotted a few familiar faces in attendance:

They always say there is nothing perfect in this world but the way Minnie  Dlamini looks in this dress? Beyond Perfect! The LIVE co-host showed up to come give Lulo support.

It was interesting to finally meet  SIkhululo Maliwa aka Lulo Cafe. He is a really humble dude and I pray that he stays that way.

A kind request to all the gay boys… he’s already got his own Jezabel., please back off and leave the man to live happily ever after with his chosen one. iThank you! *straight face*

Psyfo, who has worked with Lulo on the album was there.

There’s something about MXO’s face that I don’t understand. He kinda looks different these days… I don’t know if there’s anyone else out there who sees what I see/mean.

Songbird, Nothende Madumo had to be there, of course, seeing that her single with Lulo “I Wanna Love You”  is blazing the charts.  The reason why I know there is a Lulo Cafe is that song, beautiful track! Nothende’s got a single out as well from her upcoming album. I haven’t heard the single yet but I believe Metro FM’s been playing it these past few weeks. Have you heard it?  I’m patiently waiting for the album… way LONG overdue!

No, that’s not Mika Stefano…it’s RJBenjamin on stage. He gave us a great show, performing songs from his new album House Bound… not forgetting the much loved “Change The World”.

Oh man… .his name is Terrence and when he got on stage and started singing an Anthony Hamilton song I got up from where I was sitting and went “WOW!!!! What’s your name?” He’s that good & had this powerful voice that I really didn’t expect from someone with that tiny frame… He’s featured on a track called “Without You”… I would buy your album bhuti, hope you’re working on it!

MXO performed his featured track, JOY. I skip this song on the CD. One of the few songs I skip… Worst of all, it comes right after a HOT song “Keep The Level Low” sung by Mariechan of Jamali. I’m sure other people out there like it… hayi… I don’t.

Nothende performed the hit track “I wanna love you” and everyone was up on their feet. Her performance was definitely the highlight of the launch and soon after the performances it was Lulo and the decks!

I’m not a house music because nje I don’t understand it… like how you could just have an “instrumental” as a song or have that LONG intro with a doosh doosh sound that has its own tune, making it sound like there are two songs in one…. but I enjoyed What About Soul t because there is actual SINGING in it.

Thanks to Lulo and Soul Candi for the hospitality… and we wish you lots and lots of sales!

Modimo! Lulo is one fine boy. Caramel chocolate! Kwaaaa @ the warning to gay boys. Are they the only ones who want him? There are tons of other Jezabels.

Oh my! That minnie girl is the epitome of hotness. I hope she doesn’t let guys play with her.

Kwaaa @ comparing RJ Benjamin to Mika Stefano. He does that when he sings. Talented and cool guy.

I thought that Terence guy was Kwesta at first glance.

Yho! UNothende is fit man. She looks like she would wring your neck snapping with those thighs.

I know what you mean about MXO. There is something about him. He’s always looking like he didn’t take a bath. Argh!

And I’m the same with house music. I love house with vocals…unless the instrumental type has a nice beat to it and is catchy.

About industry supporting each other…I think it is also largely dependent on the promoter/publicist of the event. I’ve been to crappy parties/events but because the promoter/publicist was good at they job, a whole lot of big names attended.

  17. Zida on Mon, 4th Oct 2010 8:07 am

Oh, I forgot to say that Lulo is talented and handsome, he must just stay away from amanzi amponjwana…everytime I see him he has a beer or a glass in his hand…he’s gonna get ravaged.

Top draw stuff Minnie. She looked edible. I hope she maintains the sort of understated glamour and unadulterated sex appeal.

    KEEP FRESH.

Stay away from Bonang and her life of drugs, sex and rock and roll. Please dont hook up with a Dj.

    Thanks.
