New Real Goboza Format

Mmmh… so clearly we (the viewers) aren’t the only ones who have noticed that there is problem with the “new reloaded RGB”. This past Saturday, we saw a difference in the way the show is presented to us. Mmmh… only 3 /4 episodes into the season and already their original formula ain’t working!


Well, the new RGB format is no longer Phat Joe sitting on that news desk and Brenda standing  on the other side talking about news, this or that… Phat Joe is now sitting with a piece of paper in front of him and he’s asking Brenda about what’s going on… so basically the show is in conversation format… She is telling him what’s going on and he keeps chirping in with his witty & hilarious comments … and he’ll go “So Brenda, I hear you went to this or that… ” and she’ll talk about the event and then link to an insert…

There were a lot of comments and reaction to the format and I personally don’t have a problem with it, I know it works well on radio. I think it would work on the show too, provided the hosts have chemistry & the stuff they talk about is new and fresh to our ears. Right now, it you’ve watched Headline, Selimathunzi, you don’t really have to watch RGB coz whatever those other shows cover, you’ll see on RGB too.  Brenda is okay, more so now that she’s dropped the coloured accent and I think with time, people will get used to her as a RGB host.

Phat Joe on the other hand… I still think he’s the best thing ever but I’m willing to bet that HE WILL NOT LAST the whole season on RGB. It is just not his thing and I can tell that he’s not interested in the content of that kinda show… he’s just doing this for the money… I mean, it’s just one day for him.,  a paid return flight from CT to JHB once a week coupled with a huge pay check & doesn’t interfere with his work on Heart FM, who would say no. Knowing him as the no-nonsense type he is, he’s gonna get tired and just say , sorry I’m done… This is what I think… we’ll see, I could be wrong…

    I missed both the shows this weekend. Sometimes phela we have to be out and enjoying other parts of life, so we can’t watch every weekend. Anyway, I’d still give both shows another chance. Let’s see after about 6 weeks or so.

    Otherwise its #TeamClub808 for me, although I keep watching live to LOL on the bloopers in sync with the tweets. Hehe

    I watched RGB once and I really cant say. I love Headline but I always miss it because at 7:30 I’m still watching BBA task presentations.
    As for LIVE, I have no idea what that is.

    I’ve watched RGB like twice! But its boring me, I don’t know but there’s something missing…the presenters are ok but nje the show is missing something!

    The Live new look is nice but dark, I’m not sure about their lights and I can’t say I’m team live/Club808 since both these shows get us talking on Fridays!
    I think Live must recognize Minnie’s talent and give her something else to do rather than reading tweets/FB messages!

    I watched RGB for the first time on Sat, not bad hey, but eish, I don’t think I’ll get used to Brenda’s voice!! Askies!!
    I’m not feeling that new look ya Live, plus I don’t like that whole couch set up, nope!! Hai, and Minnie with the lap top, shame!!

    RGB, shouldnt have comeback. For PhatJoe its the Phat Joe Show or nothing. Brenda her amazing acting or nothing.

    I think it was a good idea for the Live producers to put Minnie in studio, because when she was a location presenter her interviewing skills were well..Shockingly bad. She can then start learning from B how its done, and hopefully improve. For now she seems more comfortable by the laptop. (PS: Im not saying uMinnie must be Bonang tho)

    Bonang= Is great but has overdone her stay, if Touch and Phila have left, and they came after you…well then its time to dedel’abanye!!

    *I think why LIVE is so popular is because its the only show, on SABC 1 where you can see some effort’nyana has been put. Realtalk..the rest of the shows on that channel feel like im watching Africa magic.

    Oh well,LVE blocked my ass on Twitter only because I told them to stop using the word ‘EXCLUSIVE’ on videos that we have already seen on Channel O & MTV Base and that was last year,they still haven’t forgiven me coz they are refusing to unblock me..lol

    I like giving shows a chance so i watch the first 10 mins, and usually change if its an SABC show #truth..Live is the only show that is really trying on SABC 1, but i will also add that although it is the best amongst the worst that does not make it a good show, it just makes it OK. U realize this once you have DSTV and see what people are really missing and what really is a good show #justsayin. Although i cant watch LIVE from beginning to end. Bigup to Live for at least trying. Plus ALOT of people who watch SABC dont have DSTV. So they are satisfied with the junk they are getting.

    PS: LIVE PRODUCERS i think its really SHADY to only improve your show once a new music show (CLUB 808) comes into the piture. Is that what it takes to try give us a well-produce show? Some other music show as a competitor? And its not fair either to use their ideas. Use ur own. #TEAMCLUB808

    I haven’t watched a single episode of RGB since it got back, mna shame i miss the days of RGB when they had tv with lelo and you knew that it was all about gossip and things you didn’t know about before the show. I sometimes forget that theres a show called live I like club808 mo flava and Dineo are holding it down very well so for me it’s #TeamClub808.

    For as long as I remember, people have always complained about RGB from the first time it was aired. If it wasn’t about the presenters, it was content that was seen on other shows.

    I watched it for the first time this season on Saturday, though I couldn’t hear anything amidst the driers at the hair salon. I liked the set, and loved seeing Phat Joe again on tv

    Copy Goboza(CGB), hmm showing the same Cele Wedding photos from JS no man, if we want to see pictures, JS is always there for us, we wanted something live… showing aka Cele doing isitebhu… Otherwis ethe format was not bad.

    Why Minnie always ready positive comment kanti? savelelwa u Siz Siz Siz, Tjoi!!!! slow down Gal.I am not sure about Siz, nothing except the charming look nje, i am not sure about his presenting.

    RealGoboza is boring period! the only best thing about that show is Phat Joe. Absolutely no gossip whatsoever.Its dry! while Kuli on the other hand is Kicking ass on Headline.i cant miss an episode. Maybe RBG should watch Headline & learn how its done.
    Live- shame i like the new look,i think its cool, if you dont like it then switch to Mokgwanyana Mmatswale on SABC2 or whatever its called.

    For me in time Brenda will excell in this RGB. For now she is just okay. As for Phat Joe the guy seemed like he’s been forced to present the show. It’s a pity though about the content bcoz it’s the stuff that have already been published. I guess the people who don’t have access to internet and who don’t buy Sunday world etc sing the different tune.

    About Live I always miss that show so can’t comment there.

    Maybe if RGB could stop acting like they are scared of this Schlebs and give us real gossip then it will be ok.
    I think Minnie is ok reading those tweets…Bonang does a good job presenting. Minnie still needs to learn.

    I would say RGB needs to add some sort of viewer participation and the content could be improved a bit… you get fresher gossip on JC anyways. As far as the on screen team, halala. I like the effiminate Brenda more than the female papa action

    @missy so true..i mean today There is Mzansi Insider with the twinz Hlelo & Ntando Masina also YFM DJ’s. I dont think producers understand that rather taking someone for their name they should try hold…gasp…”AUDITIONS”! There are so many people in the industry waiting to get their break.(thank goodness im in marketing).

    @XtraLargePtyLtd Plz tell Bonang that she’s too good for the show LIVE now. She needs to find a better show, she’s outgrown it. Its a waste of her talent and brand that she’s worked so hard for. Whose her advisor/management/agent? They should be telling her this.

    Sidenote: Phat Joe dresses well.

    @emmpive Oh one more thing man, WHY is the SABC so against putting fresh faces for shows..thats what the SABC was known for they even held auditions.     Ja neh. Minnie’s talent is wasted But I have to say that LIVE has been a bit better these past weeks, but I think the inserts are rather too long and too Selimathunzi and seskhona, otherwise they are trying!
    I agree with ppl saying Bonang should rather leave LIVE now. She’s too talented for it and I really think that she needs a new show, even channel…

    Cnt blv the excitment i had when i heard RGB was coming back coz i used to fight a lot with my boyfriend every wedneday coz i wanted to watch RGB, only to find uBrenda(Whom i respect so much as an actress) takin my fav show straight to the mud(I will not go into detail). i can neva be more dissapointed shame. Let alone the “weekly Kanyi Mbau” or whateva they call it*SMH*

    A moment of silence bahlali……..LIVE has officially unblocked me. Last friday BS told them to ‘stop being petty & unblock me’ but they didn’t listen. Yesterday Xtralarge also told them to ‘unblock me with immediate effect’ LOL….and they did today..lol

    weird how all these productions are made by one production house… Urban Brew or should i say Urban Screw….SABC 1 undermines black people period.!..how long have we been watching bad TV…Live,Headlines(good shows) RGB(not sure yet) but the production quality is a flop…dont we as black people deserve to watch good quality productions, SABC1…might as well call it Urban Screw,um what about creating good quality shows like SABC 3 for your black people…Black people have been screwed over for far too long and it doesnt stop…what they are basically saying is…nah,even if the show is bad…darkies dont know anything so they wont notice etc…aaaarg!makes me mad…same goes for that new Mzansi Magic channel on DSTV…seriously! i thought new channel-aaah great productions and to my disappointment twas just another channel for darkies who wont notice poor quality productions…oh Live and Headlines have the same producers…they are trying,but still undermine bodarkie…maybe its because when there are technical glitches etc we let go easily!….i think all theses productions need to be overlooked something needs to be done…I wont watch till i feel like im watching something of my caliber/intelligence…I will not be undermined by people who got their jobs through nepotism or who took the casting couch root(well some of them)…I AM BIGGER than that….-tunes to DSTV
