Wonder how they selected the songs. They pretty much almost got it right, but there are a few songs that were bigger that I don’t see here. For example, Skwatta Kamp’s Umoya was HUGE.
Lue on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 8:53 am
Without even going thru the List Malaika – Destiny
Lumza7 on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 8:56 am
Chomee- Jiva Sexy??? Like really?
I think Mandoza should take this one.
Bruised Ego on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:05 am
There are songs that should NOT be on this list… But I hope Malaika or Mafikizolo wins…
Lustagp on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:06 am
@Lumza7..Chomee’s ANCYL card is working wonders for her career yazi..
in the toss between Mandoza and Mapaputsi..
Lumza7 on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:08 am
Is there a particular reason why house tracks are excluded???
The more I look at this list, the less credible I perceive the Metros to be. *smdh*
Leungo on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:09 am
Ao bathong, jiva sexy? He he he ijooo!! Tota mara dilo tsa South Africa!!! Who came with that list? What about TKZ’s either Phalafala or Fiasco? How could they also leave DJ Cleo’s Time to Say Goodbye? Hey that song was everywhere all the time. Mzekezeke’s song should also not be there.
kakapana on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:12 am
I wasnt a huge fan of the song, but I think Nkalakatha should take it.
Zah000 on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:15 am
I think Mazfikizolo or Malaika should take it. I still go crazy at that Ndihamba Nawe track.
Lue on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:18 am
Lol @ y r house tracks excluded? ask Metro FM
Leungo on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:19 am
@Bruised Ego. I agree that the award will be taken by either Mafikizolo or Malaika, mara my suspicions are that Malaika will take it. I rememeber when the guys were guest on Highveld’s Home brewed a few years ago and the DJ played the song’s aucostic version which was recorded as part of the Levi’s what what. The song was so beautiful that Tshidi even had tears in her eyes when it was played live on air. And when Elvis did his own version on Idols, oh my, I wanted to cry as well. Mafikozolo’s Sibongile is also on the CD, the aucostic version is great as well. Can someone please tell me where I can get that CD please?
manny on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 9:21 am

Maybe Tzozo and Professor too!
Nkalakatha is a front runner too.

Decade, 2001-2010
Lumza7 on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 10:22 am
Actually in ths instance decade = 1 Jan 1999 to 26 Sept 2009.
Bongo Muffin still doesn’t qualify though.
Sarafina on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 10:24 am
mandoza wins hands down.
Silvio on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 10:42 am
Mandoza Nkalakala, that song did its rounds, even my white, coloured nephews and nieces friends rocked to it and amazingly sang along to it. i would alwyas crack myself when i had to pick them up from those friends, i would play the radio on the car loud so that they can hear it and they would all come out dancing like chickens. LOL
i think Man-ndoza would be deserving this time, its been a while since i hear him speak english apart from his one line braai advert.
i love him to bitz!
LG on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 11:29 am
My vote goes 2 Mandoza. That song was a hit & was liked by people of all races. True Silvio, white people danced 2 it & sang along. All these songs deserve 2 b on the list except Chommee
ugogal on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 11:45 am
Mandoza deserves it!!!
Kini_Priss on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 12:05 pm
Death by phalafala. Leungo…gatwe decade not centuary.
I’m gona vote for destiny, the song stil sounds relevant!
shybear on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 12:36 pm
My vote goes to Mafikizolo.
Nkabe ba beile rhythmic elements 2by2..
Leungo on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 2:08 pm
Tjooo nna wee Kini, I was not actually thinking of ten years nje, I was thinking of some of the songs that were great in the yester years. Mara bathong, besides just a few songs, the truth is that standards seem to have dropped. There aren’t a lot of great original songs that have been produced, save for some house music songs whcih are not excatly original.
Thato on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 2:20 pm
I see TS and 999 records are trying hard again, song of the decade chomee?? Mzekezeke? really??
mad33m3 on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 3:19 pm
Between Destiny, Nkalakathat and Ndihamba Nawe! All these other ones should be removed. It’s true about the house traxxx tho. There are quite a number of them that deserve to be up on that list!
Cinnabon on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 3:31 pm
Nkalakatha is still a big hit at X-mas parties and other corporate events…and white folk still believe Nkalakatha revolutionalised kwaito..!
Gudda Gudda on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 3:37 pm
This is between Mafikizolo and Malika!DONE
MaliB on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 3:41 pm
I wouldn’t mind if any of the 1st 3 won… Although I’m perplexed by Chomee’s song making the final cut. LOL… Something smells fishy here and I don’t mean in between her thighs either.
Biggie on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 3:47 pm
*Between Destiny, Nkalakathata and Ndihamba Nawe! All these other ones should be removed*. True that dear, the others do not belong.
Ntuli on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 4:29 pm
YOH Malibongwe! Lmao!!! Ppl shouldn’t complain bout Chomee being there, we all know metro is very subjective…
MiniAyeye on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 4:46 pm
Can I bet that Mzekezeke will win this! ke kopa le seke la re ga ka le botsa tu…
Virgo on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 5:35 pm
I would have loved to see more songs on the list but since I didnt vote I guess I cant complain.I hope Mafikizolo takes it though, that song was HUGE for me.
Makgotso on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 6:04 pm
nkalakatha,destiny and ngihamba nawe
Blueberry... on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 7:07 pm
Instead of Chommie I put Bongz ” Iyoh Aweh thina sobabili, sihlangene njengamathe nolimi…..”
kazisongo on Tue, 16th Nov 2010 8:24 pm
@Blueberry I agree with u that song was hott. I think any of the 1st 3 should take this it
HoneyBee on Wed, 17th Nov 2010 1:55 am
Why oh why is Chomee on the list?
I think Malaika or Mafikizolo should win. However, Nkalakatha is international. Every Baas and his pitbull know the song. Although not particularly my favorite, I can’t deny Nkalakatha has had the biggest impact this decade.
Everybody say SCREEEEEAM!!!
Lue on Wed, 17th Nov 2010 2:29 am
Was listening to Metro izolo n ppl asked about a few nominee in this category an Unathi did say the did announce on air at some stage that ppl should forward the names of the songs that ppl wanted to be in this category…now don’t blame ppl who chose chomee coz at least they did something to make sure she was in it…like now ppl r suppose to vote for song n artist they like… when the time comes for the winners to be announced ppl who did not vote will be complaining….awkward
Cinnabon on Wed, 17th Nov 2010 9:47 am
GBPY @HoneyBee…”Everybody say SCREEEEEAM!!!
Thiwe on Wed, 17th Nov 2010 10:12 am
Mandoza crossed over with Nkalakatha, actually so did Malaika’s Destiny.
Mafikizolo’s ndihamba nawe is still big at weddings.
and as for the rest, they were records of the year and and mos def not decade. i guess whoever the selection panel consists of dont understand the category. as much as people submitted their nominations, its still up to the panel to find those deserving from the long list of submitions.
wooza on Wed, 17th Nov 2010 1:20 pm
im surprised not 2 see dj sbu’s remember when it rained
NthabiVDK on Wed, 17th Nov 2010 2:22 pm

J-Girl on Thu, 18th Nov 2010 12:36 pm
Malaika – Destiny!! Yhoo that song!!
Lustagp on Thu, 18th Nov 2010 12:42 pm
sorry Nthabi and wooza- am sure they nominated songs that were made and created by these talented artists from scratch not stolen or bought songs from other artists.
Bongani on Thu, 18th Nov 2010 12:49 pm
Nkalakathaor Ngihamba nawe
Mookzilla on Thu, 18th Nov 2010 4:33 pm
