Every year those of us who love the entertainment industry wait anxiously to see who gets their big break. Understandably so, it’s because getting a break is much easier these days with initiatives like Top-Billing presenter search, SYTYCD, Class Act amongst others.

But at the same time, only the finest thrive when such opportunities do arise.

As the saying goes, “Luck is a crossroad where preparation and opportunity meet”. Here is a list of youngsters who are the up-coming movers and shakers you need to be on the lookout for. These individuals have been hard at work laying the foundation for that day the big opportunity comes knocking. They are young, hot and talented.

Tumisang Voster


Former YoTV presenters always strive to shine in whatever they venture into when they depart from the kiddies/youth programme. And that’s exactly what this graceful diva has been up to. In a very short space of time she has managed to become the local face of shoe brand, Pastry, established a company and has just finished studying for a BA degree in Marketing Communications.

Obakeng


I call this dude the Male version of Bonang. Yep…that’s how good he is behind the mike, be it on radio or as an emcee. This former UJFM afternoon drive livewire is currently undergoing intensive training at the Y academy (an initiative by YFM to mould raw talent). So keep watching the space.

Eric


Eric won the first and only soccer kings competition few years ago. Not sure if he still plays soccer but he does a lot stills for clothing stores and can also be seen on Pop Bottles TV.

Lunga


Lunga beat other hopefuls, including professional male models with industry experiences, to walk away the Calvin Klein Underwear X mark your spot winner in August. The 21 year old town planning student at DUT is eyeing the TV industry and being on the cover of Man’s Health.

Venim

Venim’s drive and talents are simply extraordinary. He is a musical genius that’s simply too hard to ignore. This lad from Springs says all Genres of music feed his love of music as a whole. This makes sense as his music is hard to box although he categorises it as Hip-Hop/ Rap. His single, across the room, has enjoyed airplay on Y-fm & 5fm

There are lots of up and coming stars but these are top of my list for now.

    Oh yes, Lunga is a hottie and a sweetheart. Saw him on Sisterhood and like how smart he was, but when I met him at the Metro FM Awards I was taken aback. He’s an intelligent guy. I believe he’s going very far because he has a good head. Not just a looker, but brainy too.

    Was Tumisang selected by Rev’s daughters to represent Pastry? Very nice.

    Actually Boity WAS on Hastings’ list and I asked him to replace her with someOne else coz I knew this wud derail the whole post, be about her and who she has dated. But most importantly coz she’s already been featured elsewhere as an upcoming star so @ least we’re not doing her a disservice by taking her name out.

    Well I only know Tumi Voster in this list, and used to like her bubbly personality on YoTV. its so great to know that our YoTV youngsters are really making strides in the industry, and in terms of getting educated :)

    I didnt even notice Miss Voster was the only rose till you mentioned it. Besides, I am also tired of it always being about ladies(not in a bad way though. I feel there are many young boys outthere who need young male role models. with things like Cell C’s takea GIRL child to work and women’s day. Boys ought to feel excluded…lol
