Mac G Back At YFM?

Well, well, well! Let’s just say we’re glad YFM finally realised they made a mistake by firing this young talent!

I haven’t heard him back on air yet but I hear that YFM has re-hired Mac G after they unceremoniously kicked him out last July. They were not moved by his tears back then but it seems the listeners’ made a difference… Apparently he was taken back and told that he’d start from the bottom. I guess that’s why his Twitter avatar says he’s weekdays from 03:00 – 06:00? I also heard something about him being a “ghost DJ” on the Playground with listeners having to guess his identity, which is a little confusing to understand, seeing he is a DJ whose voice is known.

Eish… I can’t quite make sense of it all  & not sure what’s what but what makes sense is that he’s back. As for him having to start from the bottom when he was fired and without a salary for all those months… ain’t that like double jeopardy?

Well, I see he’s tweeting again… welcome back man!  And if anyone out there knows what’s going on… share!

I hope this “Playground” biz is only till the 1st April. *sigh* can all these radio stations just announce the changes already!

More rumours coming from YFM:

  • Apparently all the YFM Academy students were fired, well, except for the only 2 who passed the test. The rest failed and were shown the door… Now this is the rumour mill talking…. angazi. If true, I wonder how bad the training was nje…

Oh….

  • And Kuthiwa ZAMA DUBE will be replacing Mpho Maboi on the 10-12 spot.

Mmmh…. I’m not the target market so I don’t have a right to comment… Target market, nithini nina?

    I don’t really care. Never listened to his show. I wonder who he is going to shadow now that JJ is practically married. They followed each other everywhere.

    I don’t even know who that Zama girl is. I don’t really care about YFM uyazi. They can do whatever. They are a lost cause anyway. Unless they change their management.

    YFM IS FULL OF NOISE. Bonang,Dineo etc. I have to adjust my volume when listening to Y! That station is a sinking lucky star tin, I really don’t care if they put apes or parrots as dj’s there. Its just one of those non econimcally influencing issues. Sizwe must be taken by a tokoloshi and he must be made a slave to the queen tokoloshi. Wa bora finish n klaar!

    Ladies and Gents The Y academy does not guarantee employment at Y, its just a 6 month internship programm, only a few are chosen. with every batch of 12 people they will only chose 3/4 people to work at Y. MacG really did a good job and the listeners loved him. Zama Dube Is way too loud, apparently one of the twinz said “she’s an ugly girl with a beautifuls girl confidence” mubi vele & uyaphapha nomsindo. if Macg does 03-06 Means MaAda will have a day time slot the young man is BAUSS

    I don’t see how going back to YFM is a sign of desperation from MacG’s side. At least I choose not to look at it that way.

    They made a mistake, this is their way of correcting it…. How else cud they?

    And from his side, this is SA, nott like we have a million radio stations for him to go work at. He’s too young for Metro or Kaya etc so big up to him for putting his pride aside and thinking oof his future. Doubt we wud say not to a job just coz we don’t wanna seem desperate.

    as for firing Y Academy students, they must start with the one who scout them and the Head of the Academy, don’t they assess these kids and take those with potential..

    maybe they take in their friends, boos and umngani kamngani….overlook those with talent but with no contacts, if 90% of your students fail, the problem is YOU not them..

    Yfm died loooooooong ago! But I like bonang’s show. The music is daaaaaamn nice and she doesn’t talk too much, she let’s the music play and that’s what radio is about. Tholi b is also baus.     @MissAN I’m glad you have finally confirmed what I always noticed, a lot of presenters at YFM suite the 5FM model. Lately I have been getting the feeling that YFM is secretly trying to be like 5FM & 5FM is secretly trying to be like YFM, these 2 redio stations seam to be keen admirers of one another & in the process they are loosing the audiance who made them what they are today.

    As for MA ADA & ZAMA DUBE they need to know we Kasi people hate it when coconuts are trying to act all ghetto, if you aint got that Kasi swagger then stop acting like you are down like that, to us that like when a white person talks to a black person immitating a black english accent, its damn right insulting.

    We kasi people have no beef with coconuts as long as they act themselves, hence we love Briget Masinga & Phat Joe so much.

    But haai YFM also needs to slow down on the coconut usage, there is too many of them. The must try balancing the scales by recruiting the SOWETO TV preseners Ndlovugazi & Rufass AKA Rhee isnyman es’pentseli Radio ne TV.

    @MissAN your like these AMA KIP KIP kids who keep saying YFM is the best thing ever, all because they dont know what it was like before, point is there was obviously a whole lot of white who were against the appointment of FRESH.

    The same ways we Kasi people hate the influx of coconuts to YFM, is the same way white people hate the influx of YFM type(black) DJs, I bet a whole lot of them migrated to Jakaranda.

    5FM is doing all this restructuring because they want to tap into the ever growing black dimonds market & a lot of white people have a problem with this. White people notice how manegement is systematicaly trying to sneak in black specific musical genrers like Hip Hop & House.

So dont school me abt Y.     As far as YFM is concerned, the one thing that’s lacking big time is CONTENT. Radio is not an image driven industry & it’s not supposed to be. Y-management should forget about pretty faces & start building on intellectual reserves.

    Young ppl have ambitions, we hold respectable professions, we are taking over & YFM must try to align itself within that sphere of youth. YFM is slightly TeenyBobby & I don’t mean to say this as a bit of an offence but everyday ke NikkiMinaj-this-NickiMinaj-that – I mean really come on don’t insult our state of being.

    Ppl are not critical for the sake of being crityical, we do so motivated by love & belief in the radio industry.

    I don’t wanna mention names but I think some DJs have been put in depths that they can’t handle. Look @ breakfast – are you happy with the breakfast team & the list could just go on. YFM has many “DJs” that are obsessed with being chlebsss & paying little attention to their so-called-craft. No wonder the ground-zeros got fired they just thought radio Is all about mundane things of witch it’s not.

    MacG is BACK, he did oskido’s show on saturday. @Abut’ Majesa yes ZAMA Dube must go not MaAda. he might even get a daytime slot come April 1st, coz MacG might go back to doing 03-06am wkdays.     @LJFOREVER thank you for mentionning this up, I used to love Moflava but now each time i listen to his show i get pissed off many times, the guy is very rude, he swears at ppl, some even old enough to be his parents, his comments nje just portray him as this dumb airhead who thinks he knows a lot whereas there’s just emptiness makin noise. i dont know if the ppl who listen to him here heard what he was sayin last week about this new law abt age limit ye alcohol, the guy went on and on crashin the idea saying the ppl who came up with this were drunk, and they are waisting time and our money putting up such a law cos ppl are gonna drink anyway, and that its crazy to tell ppl wht age they shud start drinking, the way he was mocking it even Sol said ‘yo man you sound like you are advocating for ppl to drink’. Is this guy for real? Has he been to ekasi where 12, 16,18 yr olds get gang raped and infected with all sorts of deseases and the sad thing is when they wake up in the morning they dont know what happened to them cos they were Drunk?, this is not only abt girls even boys get this.

    I remember when Y-FM was a force to be reckoned with ppl used to say all these wonderful things abt young black ppl makin a positive impact in Jozi through radio, I was in my 1st yrs @ UCT then and my friends frm Jozi only talked abt Y, I longed to listen to it but could’nt, i know fo sho this Y-FM now lost its plot shem..

    I remember when I visited Jozi for the holidays I would practically do everything to make sure that I listen to Yfm. Everytime I spoke to my cuzn’s when I was back home I’d ask how Yfm is and what’s new in the station…
    Gone are those days. I shudder to think why people would even bother listening to this station. If all your star DJ’s are leaving, surely there is something wrong???

    @KewlGal we Jozi people use to pride ourselves of YFM, because they management then we wanted to create an entity that will repesent the ordinary township people, but these days YFM has completly forgetten about us.

    I think YFM being gabedge like this is a blessing in discuize because they were honestly getting too powerful & its very dengerouse for non black owned entity to control black youth like they used to do.

    I find it fishy that when you set into YFM theres pictures of all the legends accept the founder…now how oftern do see a company of YFMs size not having picutres of its founder at reception. It shows that black people at that station are used as what we call in the BEE time “Fronts”.
