TJO!

Imagine my shock when I read that the SA Music Awards will be held at MonteCasino in Fourways? Bathong! SAMAs in JHB? What a downgrade… MIO reported this as a rumour but as son as I posted it on Twitter, several people confirmed that it’s true. Another reason given on Twitter is that Roxette is performing at Sun City that weekend… and the organisers feel that the SAMAs should go to other cities and not just cater for North West people.

There is also a rumour that Heineken has pulled out from sponsoring show… and it’s almost April now and there hasn’t been a word on who the nominees are for this year’s event.

Well, we wait impatiently for confirmation.

How do you feel about the awards not being in Sun City? Hayi… ha ke sure! Tjo!

    Are you serious? Having the SAMA’s in Sun City felt so right. I’m also not feeling them at Montecasino. It’s like it doesn’t feel exclusive anymore. This, I got to see.

    They must just take it to Moses Mabhida Stadium.

    Kwaaah @ Noance. Lol, suncity, monte, moses mabhida, peter mokaba…whereva they hold them i wudnt c the diffrence, i wudnt be excitd more or less. I just dnt feel awards anymore,all awards ceremonies…

    The goes a repeat of Metros when they left PE… Ended up being a no-show. Hope this won’t be the case with SAMAs.

    Am stoked coz that means I party closer to home. Save on the whole sun city expense, was gonna haul d family to suncity sama weekend, party while they explore. More booze budget now that I don’t have to pay for accom, full tank petrol, plus can just chill at home & venture out for the parties only wasn’t really interested in the whole ceremony vele. Guess fam will see sun city on anada weekend glad coz most things at sun city May/June are shutdown for maintenance

    Summers are going down indeed.Our entertainment industry is becoming dry every now and then.Im shocked to hell.Clearly you killing the value of these awards for having them in GP.GP patrons are very spoiled.Believe u me the hype won’t be the same…Im pissed hey

    Wow! Fourways is quite a departure. At the rate they’re going, they’ll be held at the Market Theatre next year… but is it REALLY important where they’re held? Hopefully they’ll shift their focus on the production quality again this year. I hope that they bring back super director Debbie Knowles. She did an outstanding job last year.
