Bafana Squad To Face Egypt Announced

Coach Pitso Mosimane has announced the South African squad that will take on Egypt in the June 5th African Cup of Nations qualifyer that will be played in Cairo.

Goalkeepers:

- Mbongeni Mzimela (AmaZulu)
Defenders:
- Bevan Fransman (Hapoel Tel Aviv)
- Morgan Gould (SuperSport United)
- Siyabonga Sangweni (Golden Arrows)
- Tsepho Masilela (Maccabi Haifa)
- Anele Ngcongca (Genk)
- Mzivukile Tom (Golden Arrows)
- Siboniso Gaxa (Lierse)
- Happy Jele (Orlando Pirates)
Midfielders:
- Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs)
- Steven Pienaar (Tottenham Hotspur)
- Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs)
- Andile Jali (Orlando Pirates)
- Kagisho Dikgacoi (Crystal Palace)
- Thulani Serero (Ajax Cape Town)
- Hlompo Kekana (Bloemfontein Celtic)
- Tlou Segolela (Orlando Pirates)

The squad assembles on Sunday, 22 May 2011 at 21h00 at the OR Tambo Southern Sun Hotel, and leaves for Rustenburg on Monday, 23 May 2011 at 09h30.The will be holding camp at the Royal Marang Sports Complex in Phokeng/Rustenburg.
The head coach has invited a further four (4) players to train with Bafana Bafana.
- Bhongolwethu Jayiya (Bidvest Wits)
- Sifiso Myeni (Bidvest Wits)
- Punch Masenamela (Kaizer Chiefs)
- Kermit Erasmus (Supersport United)
These players will spend a week with Bafana Bafana and are expected to leave camp on Sunday, 29 May 2011.
In the first week of camp, the team will be without the services of captain Steven Pienaar, Tsepo Masilela and Bevan Fransman who are rounding off their league season, as well as the Orlando Pirates trio of Andile Jali, Happy Jele and Tlou Segolela who are involved in the Nedbank Cup final. They are only expected in Rustenburg from Sunday, 29 May 2011.
International players, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Siboniso Gaxa, Davide Somma, Bernard Parker, and Anele Ngcongca are expected on the first day of camp.
In other news, South Africa has also gone up 1 spot in both African and global Fifa rankings. They’ve risen 48 places in the global rankings since Pitso took over as head coach.
