In The News…
May 16, 2011 by Brown Shuga
Some of the latest stories in entertainment that caught my eye…

Thanks to RGB for putting Phat Joe back on the spotlight! The oh-so-handsome-funny-talented-blunt-and-sexy-in-one Joe has just been announced as Bonang’s co-host for the 17th Annual SA Music Awards. The awards take place this coming weekend at Monte Casino, a venue choice that has sort of taken some glamour OFF the much talked about event.
I’m a fan so naturally, I’m 100% supportive of the Phat Joe decision. I believe he will do a brilliant job and the beauty of it is that it’s live so we’ll get to experience the best of Phat Joe, raw, live and unedtited. Oooh… I”m excited already!
HALALA!

House DJ, Black Coffee and actress Mbali Mlotshwa got married in a traditional ceremony this past weekend. They looked happy on their special day, we wish them all the best, may they stay together forever. More pics on ZARonline.
BYE…

I’ve never been a fan of the Dumisani character on Generations so I was not devastated to hear that Dumisani Mbebe has been fired from Generations. Sad for him as a family man to lose his job and I hope he finds other work really soon. I once heard him on YFM talking about some financial business he was involved in so his fans will be relieved to know that Generations wasn’t his only source of income.
I don’t think the producers of Generations have to worry about fans being upset at his exit, like many characters on the show… his role had also become redundant. The Sunday World reports that he was fired because he would not pitch for work and sometimes arrive late without letting the producers know.
Goodbye to Dumisani, the character and all the best to Dumisani Mbebe.
OOPS

Those who were unhappy with Liquideep’s Best Newcomer nomination at the 2011 SAMAs will be happy with the news that the group has pulled out of the SAMAs. Their manager is quoted (in the Sunday Sun) as saying that they confirm having withdrew from the awards but will not go into details as to why because it is a sensitive matter.
There hasn’t been any official word from the SAMAs on this issue. We all know the controversy that surrounded the newcomer nomination but what is not clear is why they didn’t just pull out of that one category and still kept their nominations for Best Urban Dance, Best Duo/Group, Record Of The Year & Album Of The Year. Guess we’ll wait for the official word on this “sensitive” matter. *sigh*
Speaking of Liquideep, what happened to the House Music Awards? Are they pulling a Kwaito Music Awards on us?
Given the links that exist between BBB Music (who are hosting the House Music Awards) and Liquideep, let’s hope they won’t have any nominations to pull out of when we start talking HM Awards.
CONGRATS

Congratulations to Slikour on his new TV presenting gig. He is the fresh talent that SABC 1 promised to introduce on Crew vs Crew which starts on 20 May 2011 at 18:30 on Fo Sho. Glad to hear that Tbo Touch turned this job down… The Touchdown 326 needs his focus at the moment, I agree.
SMH
The Sunday World reports that Brown Dash has just lost his wife and is fighting for his life (let’s take this last part with a pinch of salt, as usual) but on Twitter there is a Brown Dash who is chasing girls and not mourning anything.

CAN THE REAL BROWN DASH PLEASE STAND UP?
THIEF!

Comedian, Ntosh Madlingozi has been accused of stealing fellow comedian, Ndumiso Lindi’s jokes and performing them as his own. This happened on Friday.
Friends & Fans of Ndumiso Lindi who attended an ANC event where Ntosh was performing, tweeted Ndumiso during the show and informed him that his material was being used by the not-so-funny Ntosh.

Ndumiso didn’t quite know how to handle this… Judging from his tweets, he called Ntosh and asked him to read the tweets but I doubt much came from that because the next morning he tweeted:

Shame, my heart goes out Ndumiso… Do you have any suggestions on how he should deal with this?
Sies on you Ntosh! Hope Juju finds out about this!
Oh Na Na!

Can I just LAUGH before I write tltltltltltltltltl
Anyway, the latest in the Chris/Riri saga is that she followed him on Twitter and he followed her back. Now obviously the fans noticed this and all hell broke loose. From Rihanna’s fans’ side that is. hehehe. One die hard fan tweeted Rihanna about her disappointment and the rude girl didn’t take kindly to it. Read here:

Well, well, well…. As the President of TeamBreezy South Africa, I’d like to thank Rihanna for being one of the few people in the world who understand what true forgiveness means. Following Chris on Twitter means that she has completely forgiven him for what he did and is moving on with her life.
Now we wait for everybody else to get off their high horses. *waits for them to get back together*
Happy Monday!

Zida on Mon, 16th May 2011 1:20 am
Nice recap.
I’ve never liked that Ntosh guy and I’ve never thought he was funny. That’s why I was confused and surprised that David Kau chose him as one of the judges for So You Think You Funny?
Nathi and Mbali looked so great together. Can’t wait for the big one. I wish them all the best. Lovely couple.
I don’t understand this Slikour stint as Jam Aley presenter. Is he gonna be doing it until the Crew vs Crew episodes are over and they get someone new? Or is it his new job, until whenever? Anyway, he was great on Vuzu that one time, so I think he’ll do a great job with it.
I can already imagine how panicky the producers of the Samas are about Joe not saying the wrong things on air. But on the other hand, they employed him so they clearly wanted things shaken up. We’ll see.
In other news, Oh My Word! All those girls who fawn over Bruno Mars, apparently he’s #teamsausage and his likes then big and burly.
Speaking of which…I found myself taking out my LV geisha fan out of my LV suitcase while watching B.O.B perform on SNL. Oh my, feeling hot just thinking about it again. When that boy took out his sunglasses and flashed that smile, I just melted. Needless to say, the stalking began that very moment.
Toodles darlings. Mwuah!

commenting on the Ntosh issue would be waisting what’s left of the energy i have (already wasted it…eish). I honestly do not understand why he’s called a comedian, konje why am I even bothered? mncm!
Well done to my homeboy(man) and the petite MaMlotshwa…it’s just wonderful.
Phat Joe….skhokho!
Dandarations ne drama yako Twitter….not bothered!
@Preezy, uzoba strong, lmao!!!!! kweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

First the happy news:
Blessings eternal to Mbali and Black coffee, here’s wishing them an enduring love.
Woo the yummy Phat Joe,I’m not complaining @ all and I’m sure they will bounce off each other well lo Miss B.
K Booooo!! to Ntosh, plagiarism is career suicide,he’s clearly not a true comedian if he relies on other people’s children to come up with material for him.
Sundayworld went to town as always with one story eka Mandla Lamba(and I’m sure we can expect more next week)…..hahaaa a part of me chuckles and thinks this guy didn’t just watch Leonardo D’ Caprio’s “Catch me if you can” for entertainment like the rest of us earthlings.
lwandie on Mon, 16th May 2011 3:41 am
*Afterthought*
Riri should have known that following Chris Brown on Twitter would create a stir, considering she’s the one who caused a big hullaa baloo about their whole saga for a long while.
I can’t quite make up my mind whether this is really about forgiveness or a publicity thingy.
Whatever it is, I hope it lays to rest all the teams and camps and allows two talented young people to just do what they are good at which is making music.
soul sista on Mon, 16th May 2011 5:53 am

Makgotso on Mon, 16th May 2011 6:35 am
That Brown Dash story left me confused, they said he gravely ill the next thing he didn’t answer his phone or maybe its me who doesn’t understand the term gravely ill
Well Dumsani seems like a proud man pity his ego made him lose his job akusenzima ukungasebenzi I hope he will get another one soon and that investment he is endorsing pay him well
All the best for Black Coffee and Mbali

@ Zida Kiki wont mind Bruno Mars is teamsausage. I am in awe how gays excel in whichever field they in!
@Lwandie u and I have same thinking. Thats what I thought as well,he watched too much Catch me if you can and that other movie by Jim Carrey, something Maurice.
MissAN on Mon, 16th May 2011 6:59 am
uDumisane ulayekile! If anything is to go by SW people need to respect their jobs even if its sweeping streets. I hear Sarah was fired also for late coming. You are not indispensable.
Chris must just stay away from Riri next uzothi umrapile.
Brown Dash on twitter doubt its him like Doc Shebeleza. Cha @ B.Mag JC bloggers are prophets, sages, soothsayers, gossipers when I saw the BDash article in SW I thought about that article that had his pic and Mandozas pic. May he get better if uyagula.

Shem ke sono ka Brown Dash. He had a god thing going for a while till he left TS records then he just lost it. For his sake i hope he has a funeral policy. Its kinda annoying that these people mis-use their cash and then when shit hits the fan ba funa ama donations. This reminds me of Tebogo of Mafikizolo fame. Yeah I also say big up to Phat Joe as the co-host of SAMAs….and would like to wish Black Coffee and his new wife Mbali the best of all in their marriage.
“YAWNING” @ fresh talent….Slikour is way too old aowa man yerrr…they should have hired somebody really fresh like fish from water.
Oh poor Dumisane eish…one thing ke gore he is going to come with a different version about his departure from the soapie.
Aaaah Liquideep le bona are now being drunk by their success…are they aware that SAMAs are thee awards in Mzansi?? I feel sorry for these two not so aware boys because their wall units(aka room dividers) will be empty till they die..you don’t mess with the SAMAs.

Vesa on Mon, 16th May 2011 8:42 am
I just hope that Phat Joe won’t make Bonang look ditzy. Phela Joe is witty and quick, or maybe they will use a script like they always do
Miss Thang on Mon, 16th May 2011 8:51 am
Minnie will probably present one category
NetworkLounge on Mon, 16th May 2011 8:52 am
I thought Minnie was great on Metro when they had those celebrity shows. She was loud and sometimes babbled but I think for a first timer she did great. I would suggest that she finds a radio gig instead of being on B’s shadow and she will be as long as she’s around her. Kudos to B though she’s really building a brand for herself.
As for Riri and Breezy I would be glad if Riri was genuinely forgiving him phela I’ve been forced to tell my brain and musical senses that Riri releases crap songs in solidarity phela. If they back together I can begin enjoying her music without feeling guilty like ke betrayer Breezy bathong.

Hayi bathong,I see no reason why Minie would be upset, everything has a time line in one’s career and I’m sure she’s sensible enough to recognise that. Its not as if Live presenters are joined to the hip, they are all individuals at different stages of their careers.

Thats what caught my eye in entertainment today.

Who is Ntosh?
Is Black Coffee’s hand really like that or is it just a gimmick? Too bad I can’t perv on Mbali anymore now that she’s married. Congrats to them.
Everyone on Generations is leaving these days. Queen needs to get with the programme too and follow.
Isn’t Rihanana from a resort island? Do they also have ghettos over there? It’s not the first time I read something by her where she’s cursing. Such foul from a sexy thing like that. I’m turned off. Anyway, I think those two love each other. I dont believe they’ve ever really lost contact. They’re hooking up behind our backs. The Twitter thing was planned to get us talking. Good luck to them. I’d take self defence lessons if I were Rihanna. Just for insurance.

Guys I have to share this,I am reading a book Wizard of the Crow by Ngugi wa Thiong’o, this line killed me and too bad @Fanapurp didnt think of it in The initial lie article. A group of members of some project called Marching to Heaven in honour for a President for life of a fictional African country, some women showed The Ruler aka President, foreign dignitaries, members of the Global Bank (equivalent to IMF) which the country is trying to ge funding from and other important people,in protest against this project a group of women showed lifted their skirts and showed their bums to these important people. Some committee of the project not happy with these women, these men talking amongst themselves: Women have always been the thorn in the flesh of human race, hardly surprising most of the men concluded, given their descent from Eve. One member of the committee pretended dissent. With a knowing smile and a wicked glint in his eye,he asked,Who hides the sly snake between their legs? Kwa kwaa!

@ lol at kasier Motaung snr. That’s the thing though, once u get a well paying job or a job nje you’re expected to do some sort of renovation back home unless your home doesn’t need a make over nyana. Be it u ku faka I ceiling, ama tiles, ama built in cupboards u name it. I watched your girl B’s reality show via her website, shem on the live set she was busy chatting le sizwe minnie was there in the background ka her laptop o ka re skepsel nyana. We all know and aware of Black coffee’s lifeless arm. Can he just once in a while just let hang and let it loose kancane.
The whole arm in pocket and that down-syndrome smile with tilted horizontal face is just not cutting it. (Not at all)

softnfree says:

Mmaditaba on Mon, 16th May 2011 8:59 pm
must he take it out so u can laugh at him? Ukusa manikuyeke maan! Lmao mara your comment killed me! Lmao
softnfree on Mon, 16th May 2011 9:17 pm
Mmaditaba contrary to popular belief not everyone is a sadist.
Struubob everyone with common sense coupled with empathy would agree that Black coffee doesn’t look normal with the whole crippled act.
I am a firm believer that if you laugh @ urself the world laughs with u
Now we don’t want to laugh @ him
So if he acknowledges and celebrates his imperfections the world won’t even notice the pocket-strangles arm (I bet that arm is much lighter than the other and the pores are dying of suffocation)
And I am talking from experience cos I have flat feet and not only are they flat but thin and the stilleto craw-callouses don’t help the appearance.
I grew up with EVERYONE looking and commenting on my feet and some laughing at me saying how ugly they are.
I was so conscious that my mother said to me ‘the above when u embrace ur imperfections the world recognizes it as a norm’
So I had to be brave and deliberately at times walk barefooted when or place my feet on Mr Man’s lap or ask him for a foot rub just so that we can get over the ‘ungly flat feet syndrome over with’
It was not easy, but I had practice liking (notice liking cause I don’t think I will ever get close to loving them but like I try)
And I do regular pedicures with lovely painted toes or french look just to work on these anorexic long feet.
So Black coffee can learn a thing or two or he must just as well amputate.
softnfree on Mon, 16th May 2011 9:21 pm
The sad thing is he is not crippled (though he acts like it) cos he is overly conscious.
He is a normal full filling human being with an arm that doesn’t function as compared to the other.

I admire people like Simphiwe Dana who were not born with scars as others would call it disfigured and instead of hiding what nature decided to brand them with, they accept and embrace it come what may or who says what.
And its scars or conditions like that , when one can’t hide (I.e face and limps) that one should just let it be Ndoda.
Or if it bothers him that much, he has enough money to do something about it. (How long is he gonna pocket that arm?)
I shudder to think behind closed doors what happens to that arm…

Hauuuw! Dear JC
Can we have a post that tells us in detail what happened to Black Coffee’s arm *concerned*
TheMovie on Tue, 17th May 2011 4:57 pm
lol, Mbali the one that got away…congrats to Black Coffee, nice catch. May they live happily ever after, and Slikour too, can’t wait. I think Riri’s move demonstrates that people get over things, sustained ‘hate’ doesn’t benefit anyone.
Can’t wait for the SAMAs!
Moving along..awu Ntosh, kaze kwenzenjani? *smh* ai kubi.
