At The MTV Base LIVE Party

Last Friday MTVBase hosted MTV Base Live at the Venue in Melrose Arch. The show was headlined by Angola’s Cabo Snoop and there was no way I would miss him liveso Kiki and I went to check him out (or at least she was supposed to have gone with me but ended up with her man all night, leaving me to wander around alone).

In usual MTVBase style, the party was fun and I wish I could say the music was great but shem, DEATHBY House Music! Like I totally understand I can’t avoid hearing this genre neh, but there was just TOO much of it bathong, hayi!

Sizwe Dhlomo, who owns a Scooters Pizza Franchise was host. He’s with the skinny Cabo Snoop.

Big Nuz were the first to perform and they brought the house down. I loved their performance.

And Mampincha has lost weight guys!

Lulo Cafe performed with Terence…

Nothende also did her thing performing I Wanna Love You. That song will be hot for many years to come.

By the time Mi Casa performed I was all “housed-out” but I’m sure House fans enjoyed their performance. This guy has a beautiful voice though…

Cabo Snoop set the house on fire. He did about 3 songs and that was it. We can’t even call Cabo a singer hey. He’s a dancer, a performer coz nje he says “Windeck, Windeck ” and then talks in Portuguese throughout the songs.

He’s a great performer though, you can see that he gives his all on stage. I’m looking forward to hearing what he comes up with next.

“Euphonza” got on the decks and I saw a lot of people dancing to his house tunes…

On to the people spotted there..

Comedian Tall Ass Mo and his Cream Cartel wife, Mome were there. You couldn’t miss them even if you wanted to …

The Queen of Bling, Khanyi Mbau was there. I think she should call herself something else, to go with the new “I’ve grown up” image. There’s nothing “QOB” about this look, even her nails are natural.

On the subject of RGB, I wouldn’t mind if she was announced as the RGB host. She’s clearly trying to actually do something with her life and if she hosts RGB, the show’s producers will be forced to get creative and give us other news besides Khanyi news because up to now they’ve been acting as if the show is RGMbau.

MaEzee from Teargas looks hella different here. Forget the tantrum from the other day, he’s still the sexiest of the 3. Eka re a ka o dira to come nice lol.

I heard Wanda Baloyi was supposed to perform with Lulo Cafe, if she did I missed it.

Just like I missed Morena’s first performance. So what’s going on with JR’s hair?

Claire Mawisa was there with her friend and designer Felicity Shiba. You’ll remember her from Simunye days.

Former Dance Your Butt Off contestant and YFM producer, Bujy was there. LOL at the “stomach in” pose.

Babalwa Mneno with Milen. They both look hot.

Mika with his buddies.. You could take a picture of Mika queieing at the pharmacy and he’ll still look like he’s having the time of his life.

Somizi seemed to be having fun…

Spotted Simphiwe Dana dancing, so cool seeing her out and about. Would love to see her wearing another cool.

Selae looked absolutely stunning in that dress and the fabric Oooh! Pity she lost her phone at the event.

Thanks MTVBase for the party but please try cater to us who aren’t into house music next time. I believe Hip Hop DJs only got on stage way after I’d left and I left at 2am.

Thanks for the pictures too, most people looked good and I guess it was a successful plus I got to meet some of JC’s bloggers!

Kiki did an interview with Cabo Snoop for us so look out for that.

Haibo guyz clearly uNothende has a skin problem and I’m sure if she knew how to sort it she would have done so, not everyone has a beautiful skin or body and for some people it’s not easy to get rid of the problem. I had afriend who had a skin problem from high school and believe me she went to some of the best dermotoligists(sp) but it took time before she could get good results..so please yekani omunye umtwana I’m sure naye akazithandi asona hawu!!

The subliminal undertones that always surface when Sizwe or Claire are featured in a blog are highly amusing(for lack of a better term),theres only so many times surely that those in the know can mention how “boring” Sizwe is and how “nasty” Claire is, without it becoming redundent They could be all of those things and more or maybe it could be that human part in us that always seeks imperfections in things that we deem “too perfect”.

I for one would hate it, if people were going on about how deseased my skin was, but then again I am not in the public eye, Nothende is, together with the public adoration comes public scrutiny,

Personally mysista, I found it all sad. As sad as all the other similar occasions were someone’s physical condition or appearance was the butt the joke for the day. Here and elsewere. I pity the people doing the ridiculing more than I do the people being ridiculed.
I refuse to believe that there is any satisfaction in being mean. All that negative energy!?….and its no more justifiable when its done to a celebrity than the lady next door, bottom line is there is some underlying mean tendencies that must be very toxic to one’s spirit.

@GA yes, yes, there are mean tendencies. I know I for one like to poke fun. While your moral superiority has not gone unappreciated it might be worth remembering the nature of the site you’re on. Now I’m not saying that this site was designed to be toxic but let’s look at some keywords: ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, CELEBRITY, GOSSIP, TABLOID. It’s not exactly the makings of Sunday School content and discussion now is it?

And for Christ’s sake I’d like to think that the sharp witted, razor tongued likes of Kuli, Sizwe and Somizi etc. can take as good as they give. Have you heard and read some of the smart ass things they dish out? If we’re expected to take it in jest then why can’t they?

In all honesty I find the commenters and bloggers on this site hilarious. Do things get a little mean? Sure. Is it amongst of the cruelest, most hateful stuff being said online? Nowhere near it. One thing I find to be evident in most (if not all) of the smartass comments I’ve read on here is that there’s a frivolous undertone.
