Spring Tour 2011
September 2, 2011 by MaBlerh
9 provinces, 4 international artists and over 20 local acts and DJ’s.
This year’s 10th addition of the Spring Tour is definitely bigger and better. If you have never heard of this festival then you definitely have been living under a rock. It is arguably the biggest Black urban youth day festival in the country.
It began 10 years ago and has grown over the years to the point that the Gauteng department of Sport, Arts & Culture has come on board on top of other big sponsors like SABC 1. This year, the event brings us Cabo Snoop, Monique Bingham, Byron Stingily and Blackstreet. Those who are house music fanatics will know Monique Bingham as the female vocalist that sang on “we had a thing” and “sweet love“. Both tracks were instrumental to the rise of house music in this country.

The tour begins in JHB this Saturday, 3 September, in Wemmer Pan (Rosettenville) with the Live team as hosts (Minnie Dlamini, Bonang and Sizwe Dhlomo).
Gates open at 8am and the party ends at 10pm. On the next day, the party moves to the Vaal where the vibe will be much more chilled with Jazz and Soul Music with Stoan as the MC.

This year Mahoota and Pepsi made a two HUGE changes that will ensure that the event is bigger and better; they have asked me to be their online voice via tweets and blogging and they will also allow people to enter the gates with their cooler boxes in order to avoid people sitting outside the venues and public drinking.
I will ensure that i bring you all the juicy gossip and funny moments from all the nine events. All the info that you will need is below. Check me out on twitter, @mablerh, as I will be giving away some tickets under the hashtag, #SpringTour2011.
