The Swatch “Time & Place” Launch

The SWATCH GROUP hosted an exclusive BRASEL TIMEPIECE TRENDS 2011 at the plush Turbine Hall in Newtown and yep F.O.M.O (Fear Of Missing Out) got the better of most of us so despite my reluctant socialite-hood, I couldn’t let this one pass me by. It was definitely worth the self-betrayal.
On my late arrival, I walked an empty red carpet as everyone had already walked the walk. Nonetheless there were still photographers on sight for those of us addicted to late arrivals so my partner in crime and I still got to pose and pout!
First stop was the Flik Flak station. The Flik Flak brand is exclusively reserved for children and as you can expect, the theme here was candy heaven from my own deductions. Like sweet kids, my partner in crime and I, featuring a few others spent more time here than on the other display stands with more expensive brands like Longines and Rado.  I always keep away from things that are way out of my financial capacity for the sake of retaining my good health.

The stunning and ever-graceful Ursula Chikane was the MC and guess what? She killed it! Some people where yap-yapping while she introduced speakers but she still did great. 

‘Had a heart-to-heart moment with the crazy Nomakula Roberts, and forgot to go collect a free SWATCH watch in the process.

Here’s who I managed to find get to pose and pout for the infamous PINK JC CAM!!

 

Claire Mawisa was my first victim. This was the first I spoke to her although we are usually at the same gigs, oh and like everyone else, she acknowledged how critical the JC fam is to substandard fashion or dodgy looking celebs. We love you too sis’ Claire!

From one lady with an incredible aura to another, I briefly spoke to the eloquent and drop-dead gorgeous Pabi Moloi. Let’s just say successful people, like trees that bear more fruit, are much closer to the ground. 

Pabi was there with mover and shaker Lebo Mabotja and her smile.

You know an event means business if they can get Azania to show face.  

Unlike most of the Jozi folks who’ll unashamedly grace the opening of a lucky packet, she doesn’t attend anything hence I had to run for a picture coz seeing her is such a rare occasion.

 Another one who’s as rare as a Ahen’s tooth in the social scenes is Faith Mangope. Amongst others, Kuli was in awe of the YFM’s current affairs host and it’s fully understandable coz Miss Mangope is one of few industry ladies with more brain-cells than spotlight hunger.

As if it wasn’t emasculating enough with Azania, Sonia and Claire towering over me and my height-challenged self, there was also Weza.

I didn’t know she was this tall and hot in real life. Africa indeed does have talent.

Her shoes

Sonia Booth is one beautiful soul. And in case you wondering, no she wont be going back to her weave-wearing days anytime soon. So if you were hoping otherwise, sorry. 

Had to harass C-ga for a picture in honour of my other Gemini mother, Kiki, you know she’s H-over-H. It never dawned on me how focused C-ga is. I’ve spoken to him before but the conversation never graduated beyond “How are you sir, may I have your picture”. Watch out for big things from this guy.

Dineo Moeketsi from kasi yaka, Kwa-Thema, was there.

I didn’t believe in the hype before but I’m officially hooked on her.

Uyanda Mbuli who just celebrated her 9th anniversary with hubby, Sisa, seems to be embracing the colour-blocking trend and I think she’s doing it justice.

Wonder how many pairs of shoes she imported to celebrate her anniversary…I forgot to ask her.

Thandie is so portable it’s cute, but her infectious smile is even cuter.

All in all, a beautiful exclusive event with an open bar and in true On-Point PR fashion, the top billing elements still came through despite a huge turnout.

    Pabi is such a sweetheart. Thought she’s one of those arrogant celebs mara she’s cool and down to earth. She looks ok here, she’s looked better.
