I Want To Sing Gospel Finale
October 11, 2011 by Siya Mtolo
Finally the moment of truth arrived and Nhlakanipho Cele was crowned the winner of I Want To Sing Gospel and he deserves it. The studio was packed to capacity with people who wanted to witness this moment and the guest jugdes were Penny Lebyane and Pastor Patric Duncan.
Because this episode was more about votes and the three finalists were obviously great singers there wasn’t a lot of criticism from the judges, they all just kept congratualting the contestants on their outstanding performances.
Thabani was the first to perfom and he sang a moving worship song that was written by Mvuselelo Radebe. Thabani is really good and he deserves a spot in the industry and I believe we will see him doing great soon.
Malcolm sang Whitney Housten’s I look to You and he gave such a moving perfomance, and for a guy to sing Whitney’s song like that Malcom has once again proved just how great a vocalist he is. If he releases an album soon I will most definately buy it.
The man of the moment Nhlakanipho brought the house down with his performance of Zincane Izibongo Zam and indeed you could tell that he is singing this song from the heart. I believe in this man’s talent and I believe he has a potential to take the gospel music industry by storm. I just pray to God that he remains humble and grounded and not be changed by Johannesburg and the music industry.
I just wanna take this moment to thank my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for the opportunity He gave me to bring you this recap. I want to thank Boss Lady Miss LeloB for giving me this platform and I really had fun doing this.
I want to thank you all for your comments. Most importantly, a big thank you to Tox Media for being so kind. God bless Thokozani and Mkhize for the big role they play in unearthing talents, may God continue to expand their teritory. A big shout out to Thabo Mdluli for being such a great host and High 5 to Tshepo for the great work he did as a stylist. Oh not forgetting the band, these guys are great!
Congratulations Bab’ Cele and thank you for putting up with my craziness, I did it all because I belived you were a winner and I was never gonna stop until I see you win this and now I’m the happiest girl on earth.
You know guys I’m sure Nhlakanipho will never forget my stalker tendencies, everytime I saw him I’d grab him for a picture and even coach him on how to pose, heheheh. Shem he would remain kind and sweet and just play along until last night when we took this picture and I wasn’t happy with it so I asked him for another one yho akadikwa ubhuti kwacaba kungaqhawuka naloo mtshato!

We ended up taking this one and you can tell nje ukuthi there is trouble in paradise!

Go ahead guys and congratulate the man of the moment, see you on the flip side!

When the elders of the Church lay their hands on him, I said, it is done! Nhlaka bethuna has what it takes to make it in the gospel industry, he has that X-factor.I am so happy for him. U-Malcom ena, he has the voice but there is just something about him, somedays I could put my finger on it, but other days neh, it just evades me. But it is there, that thing that makes his whole ‘package’ dodgy!(Am being diplomatic here)lol. Mos gape these guys new way before gore whos number 3, number 2 and number 1, they knew! You cant tell me Thabani thought he could beat Nhlaka, no way! Congrats Nhlaka, take your mum and dad to Israel, dont be silly like that idols winner who they say wants to propose to his girlfriend at 21years! Take your time my brother.

Thank you Lela for the recaps, I missed spme episodes and you guys filled in the gaps.
Thought ud write also about the IWTSG alumni’s performances.
Loved Lungisani, he has a good voice and he music is unique, he aint a copy cat.
Charisma bathong LORD she blessed me hle…did not get all of the afrikaans but , I believed her, I saw her ministering to those who could hear, she is Legit. And she looks like a minister hle…I wud like to go one of the services where she will be ministering. Speaking of Mninistering, does any one know Lebo Gololo….she and SoulOva will be hosting a SoulOva event soon, I love that woman”s ministry….from when it started as ‘virtous women’, they are a blessing in my life. Bless SoulOva, Bless Charisma hle.
Kgotso…never warmed to him, I don’t even remember what he sang. I prefer Teachers to loud and roudy evangelists, even in music I prefer worship with no Gimmicks…#Gaither everything!
Anyhow, anyway! This season had great singers, most of them will make good Joyeous celebration members. Like Thabani.
GA on Tue, 11th Oct 2011 10:04 am
PS: Big up to big brother Mvuselelo for penning down such a beautiful song for Thabani. I pray him a successful career le yena, as a writer and a singer. That was a well written song!
#Deathby the typos in me comment, and to think Spell check underlined them so I can fix them but I ignored *ashamed!*
Lela on Tue, 11th Oct 2011 10:41 am
True GA about Charisma she is indeed a minister. Khotso yena has become more like Keke and bayandihlula cause i cant stand abazalwane abaphaphayo when they minister, iyintoni yona le yopitswa kangaka ziblukhwe? they must watch Nhlaka for classy n spirit filled performances. As for Israel that is where Nhlaka will propose to me uhamba nam. Snappy the one where we are fighting is the one BS put first, whoa every marriage has its problems phofu. The funny part is that his mom came to thank me for my support which was very humbling, but i could see a look that says “but dont think u can be my makoti with that hair n those jugs poppin out,” lol.
Miss P BayBay on Tue, 11th Oct 2011 10:45 am
I have always been a silent blogger but today I should just crawl out of my mansion because of Nhlaka’s victory. This is the most humble and shy dude I know. He was my neighbour eMlazi kaJ and then they moved to kwaL. I never knew he could sing he probably discovered his talent after I had moved to durban cos nje ngangingakaze ngimuzwe ngisho ecula. So Congra to Nhlaka, I can see umamKhulu is really proud of you and uBab Cele*Speaking of Bab Cele* I will never forget the time engijaha ngebhande becos I went to his tuck shop ngiyothenga ngemali yeMonopoly. The way he was pissed. I was the laughing stock ngasekhaya LOL… It was really good seeing the whole family so proud. Well done Nhlaka hope fame does not change him nkos yam*Eish* yazi I discovered a lil crush on him guys after seeing him in a tailored suit, Hawe ma iyamufanela shem…

Aww Miss P, very true ya mo tshwanela suit hle. Speaking of suits, I’m glad this year they moved from the big collar shirts, the suits the guys dawned were on point. PS: the finale outfits were hideous!!!! They should have been dressed in suits like in their first performance as a trio. Atleast Nhlaka ga a na mkhaba his sweater was oryt-ish…anyway…there was something humbling about Nhlaka going home in a suit. Someting! Bless him!

*prays for the JC members who were raised up in the sheebeens by their mothers with plastic weaves and fathers with bully tendencies and when they grew up decided they want to be just as skanky as the people who used to come to the sheebeens, and then there are those who when growing up were told they were the ugliest at home (and they also knew it), so they grew up bitter and made a promise to themselves that they shall live their whole lives insulting other people*
Lord please grant them the wisdom to see their stupidity and their lack of self esteem, also cure their bipolar and their everyday lives lived in ‘depression’ mode.
This is for all those people who have gone out of their way to try and bring down other people’s spirits here in every way possible. May the devil exit your sorry arses.
Amen.

I am sooooooo happy Nhlakanipho won, something about him reminds me of Vuyo Mokoena, istru! There is just that extra something special about that man….the body obviously adds to it! mmmmhhhhhh….
Thabani also has great talent…
Malcolm, brilliant voice, there is just something…maybe it’s simply because his style of worship is not something i was brought up with, hence my only ‘feeling’ a certain type of Gospel and gospel singers…e.g the late Vuyo, Jabu Hlongwane…and now Nhlakanipho!

Lela, you are beautiful sisi no doubt.Infact you are a real candidate for that pagent Face of Africa nton nton, but here is my beef with you.Remember it was you who terrorized the other gal about her looks. Many people tried to call you to order knowing that you are a God fearing woman of God.So please don’t say that people on JC are this and that when you were once an instigator of calling others ugly, you have forgotten but we have not.God is merciful that not many people did to you what you did to that poor girl.So as the Bible says do unto others. And please don’t practise selective christianity like the Pharisees becoz the Good book proclaims that those who are first will be last. This is not a personal attack at all.I still feel you owe that girl an apology.
