Happy Miller Monday everyone! Hope weekend was fab and that you’re looking forward to kicking butt this week.

First things first …

So I went to see Coldplay at FNB Stadium on Saturday and it was quite an interesting experience. I didn’t think I knew their songs until I heard Clocks, then realised, I just didn’t know it was a Coldplay song. When the concert announcement first came out, I didn’t quite get the hype but after watching them perform, I totally get it!  I was with COLDPLAY die hard fans, who sang along to each and every song and I can safely say that Chris Martin is one talented guy, the band rocks and they can count me as a new fan and In My Place is my favourite.

Now on to a few stories that caught my attention this weekend:

EUPHONIK vs YFM

Saw some *yawn* story *yawn* about Euphonik being banned from YFM because he apparently checks what they are planning to play so that he can play it on his 5FM show. *yawn*. Euphonik tweeted like hundred tweets in response, calling some YFM people liars… I don’t even know why he would waste so much time with that, who cares if he’s banned, it’s YFM, he’s on a national radio station, one where the YFM Djs are dreaming of going to… When Sunday Sun called him for comment he said he was busy drafting a letter with his lawyers. Heish, SA “celebs” take themselves seriously kodwa. It’s just a story in a “tabloid”… and you throw such a fit? In the process spreading the story even further because now even people who don’t read that paper find out about it… through YOU. *sigh*

 

 

 

Jub Jub

Accused murderer, Jub Jub is expected in court this morning for that VERY old case about the 4 school kids who died as a result of his and Themba Tshabalala’s negligent driving. Jub Jub was in the news last week for not taking R100 worth of petrol on credit and this week he’s back in the news because he was admitted in hospital for 4 days due to an illness he tells the paper he can’t disclose. They concluded it was stress. Anyway, he told them that he’s weak and I wouldn’t be surprised if a sick note is sent to court, forcing another postponement… I really hope he is not pulling a Julius Malema and that he will respect those kids’ parents enough to stand trial and get this over and done with. It must be traumatic for them to still have to wait to get answers about what happened to their kids.

A Story that Made Me Go TJO!

City Press’ leading story about the National Youth Development Agency and the R106 million they spent on the World Festival of Youth and Students.

According to the paper, some of the money was spent as follows:

  • A company owned by “kwaito king” Arthur Mafokate was paid R5.3 million for providing entertainment, including expensive balloons at R100 000 and confetti at R60 000
  • A company owned by Mafikizolo band manager Julius Mekwa received a contract worth almost R9 million for managing the opening and closing ceremonies,
  • Bitline SA, a company owned by ANC Youth League president Julius Malema’s well-known business associate Ali Boshielo, scored more than R1 million for providing bags, T-shirts and other paraphernalia; and
  • A company owned by a Springs police officer won a R21.7-million tender to provide catering and was paid R6.5 million upfront before the tender was cancelled.

I am glad that the DA Youth is so vocalabout this, I think people need to answer… Looking forward to seeing what comes out of the Public Protector’s investigations.

Such a shame…

5FM DJ, Gareth Cliff is releasing a book called “Gareth Cliff On Everything”. Knowing him, it’s going to be hectic!  Looking forward to hearing his thoughts.

    I wanna die for missing the COLDPLAY concert, I’m such a huge fan. I Unconsciously listen to them everyday. Their music is emotionally arousing and I can’t wait to get their new album

    Tjo!! Confetti ya 60 grand? *claps once* did they require that much confetti to begin with? The NYDA isn’t doing much to help the youth, clearly they’re more concerned with throwing ridiculously expensive gigs! Mara South Africans love throwing parties.
    So Arthur is rolling in it mos?

    Euphonik is such a drama king! But I found that story funny. Why would he wanna steal their music? He’s a dj himself who is obviously aware of the music trends. Secondly, Yfm and 5fm don’t have the same audience.

    This Rosette and Andile story is spiraling out of control! Maybe Andile ke silent blogger and saw what was said about his ex fiance! I hope they sort ish out among themselves

    *yawn* at the NYDA STORY. that is no news.it is how we as a society have decided to be led.Why should any action be taken against the NYDA? why should any sane person expect any action? This is what our fathers and mothers died for fighting apartheid.It is so that a few can share our commonwealth in the most barbaric form of greed and corruption. This is liberation, the south African way. I am passed caring.     We all knew abt NYDA’s R100m overspending since last year.

    What caught my attention is what happened enext door ekhaya eGuguletu.
    A 3yr old boy was found decapitated and some body parts missing.

    I used read these kinda stuff on papers and see them on tv but ddnt expect it to happen to people I personally know. Its evn worse ngumntana wase next door on my right-hand side, obulewe yitenant yase on my left-hand side.

    I dnt knw noba ndenza isense. Ifamily house yasekhaya is on the middle.
