Statements On John Legend’s Cancellation
October 13, 2011 by Brown Shuga
Following the news that John Legend will no longer be performing at the highly publicized Annual Sixties performance, rumours about promoters failing to meet payment deadline started flying around.
SABC 1 thereafter issued a Press Release :
SABC1, Mzansi’s Entertainment Authority, regrets the announcement that John Legend will no longer form part of the line-up for the Mpumalanga 60’s Music Festival as previously advertised. Negotiations are currently underway with John Legend’s Management for an alternative date in the very near future and, details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
Notwithstanding, plans for the Annual Mpumalanga 60s Music Festival are continuing at full steam, for the weekend starting Friday 14th October 2011, as advertised. The annual music festival, staged at the MbombelaStadium, has in the past attracted huge crowds of up to 15 000 patrons.
“We encourage mzansi’s music lovers to flock to the venue in their numbers for an exceptional musical experience which promises to be an unforgettable weekend filled with fun and the hottest local entertainment,” says Vukile Madlala, SABC1 Publicity Manager.
Molite Production, SABC1 and the partners involved wish to advice that patrons who have already purchased their tickets prior to this announcement have the following options as a result of the change in the original line-up: a full refund or a ticket exchange at discounted prices.
Patrons can apply to redeem their full refund at Ticketpros www.ticketpros.co.za / 083 916 0012 and Postnetoutlets. For a ticket exchange, patrons should visit the Ticketpros to have their original tickets re-issued at discounted costs.
Considering that John Legend had been on Metro FM’s Touchdown 326 talking about his trip, we went to his Twitter timeline to check if he mentioned anything about cancelling his trip but there was nothing so we tweeted him:

Seeing that he was being tweeted by SA’s entertainment diva, John Legend tweeted: (start from bottom up)

Pity he’s too famous to credit us for making him look good… mncim.
Sorry to all the disappointed fans out there…

LOL @ Bra John… ha!ha!ha! Anyone know how much these artists charge for a perfomance? This remind me of @Mablerh’s article South African artists being ok with being paid with booze,if the issue regarding payment is true, these Americans know their worth…It is business…
Haai I don’t like John Legend as much,his debut was a killer…
Kanti when are these promoters bringing Maxwell?

John Legend’s charge ranges from 3.5m to 5m.And you fly him first class, house him first class +everyone else he decides to bring. Furthermore, you meet his demand/terms and conditions ; bo ‘I want 6 bottles of sparkling what what, warm roast leg of goat meat, unwashed strawberries, light blue lights in the bathroom, white branded carpet under the bed,Giorgio Amani towels and beddings ,red lights in the kitchen…even if the hotel suits doesnt have small kitchens you must get it for him.lol
