Catching Up…

Catching up with some of the latest news, stateside:
The poster for Act Like A Man, a movie based on Steve Harvey’s relationship book, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man has just been released.

.
The movie comes out in March 2012 in the US and features some of black Hollywood’s most loved actors. Michael Ealy, Meagan Good, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P Henson are enough to make me sit and do a literal countdown to March…
The movie also features Chris Brown…
The romantic comedy is about four interconnected and diverse friends who have their love lives shaken up after the women they are pursuing buy Steve Harvey’s book and start taking his advice to heart. When these guys find out that they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire to use the book’s teachings to turn the tables.
The book, Think Like A Man, Act Like A Lady got us talking but it isn’t exactly a classic but I hope they will do well with it.
Seems Steve Harvey’s career is going very well, he’s also getting a daily self-titled show in 2012 where he’ll talk about relationships (family, marriage, etc). Hopefully it will come out soon so SABC 2 can pick it up and stop the torture that is Mo’Nique’s show.

R Kelly has written a book about his life story called Soula Coaster. There has been a lot of talk about the title but I think it’s pretty cool and I am curious to read this book, I hope he is honest and open in it. R Kelly has been through so much, accused of so many things and it would be interesting to read what he has to say about everything we’ve had to say about him and his life.
Kinda reminds me of Zola, I would buy his book if he was ever to write one.
R Kelly says the book will be out in Spring 2012, I don’t know when that is, in SA terms.

Twitter is at it again…
A Penn State University coach, Joe Paterno was fired after it emerged that he had turned a blind eye to allegations of child sex abuse against his assistant. Ashton saw a headline, and assumed the coach was fired for poor perfomance so he tweeted :

You know how people like behaving as if they are perfect, they got on his case, calling him an ignorant idiot etc… he later explained but still it continued so now he’s decided that he’s not going to run his twitter account himself. He posted the following on his blog:
Up until today, I have posted virtually every one of my tweets on my own, but clearly the platform has become too big to be managed by a single individual. When I started using twitter, it was a communication platform that people could say what they were thinking in real time and if their facts were wrong the community would quickly and helpfully reframe an opinion. It was a conversation, a community driven education tool, and opinion center that encouraged healthy debate. It seems that today that twitter has grown into a mass publishing platform, where ones tweets quickly become news that is broadcast around the world and misinformation becomes volatile fodder for critics.
While I will continue to express myself through @Aplusk, I’m going to turn the management of the feed over to my team at Katalyst as a secondary editorial measure, to ensure the quality of its content. My sincere apologies to anyone who I offended. It was a mistake that will not happen again.
Seems kinda silly that an honest mistake could make him take such a decision. People are really mean… but I guess the stress of everything that’s going on with him and Demi, the rumours of their break up have caused him to be on the edge.
It defs won’t be the same reading his tweets knowing his management is tweeting for him… I wonder if his 8 Million + other followers also feel the same. If anything, they should feel bad for making the poor guy feel like he killed someone…
.
On another note, it seems the Kim K/Kris H divorce is going through… no word on them working things out and his dad is spitting fire telling the media that Kim didn’t even tell him about the divorce, he found out about it in the media… Kim, is of course, denying this. I’m wondering if we are still going to see their wedding special on E! ?
In other news:
Eddie Murphy quit as host for the 2012 Oscars and Billy Crystal announced on Twitter that he will be hosting the awards. I don’t really feel anything about that…

@BS I think they’re spring time coincides with our autumn (March – May). I see Steve is taking the Dr Phil meets Angie Diale (Relate) route. Hope his show goes well for him. As for his movie – Meagan Goode has turned me off the whole damn thing. Horrid actress that one!

I just had to comment that Kris Humphries is UGLY!

Nna I’ll go and watch Steve Harvey’s movie because of Taraji P Henson, love the woman.. Haibo Eddie Murphy, saw him a week ago on Ellen Degeneres and he said that he was very excited that about hosting the Oscars, and that he hopes he will be good as her and now I read this…

Meagan Good is hotttt…not sure about her actin skills though. I remember in early 2008 when ‘Stomp The Yard’ hit our cinemas…the whole cinema erupted with noise & whistles & popcorn was flyin in the air…the hotness that appeared on the screen that was Meagan Good…hmmmm
Talkin about books,i remember readin that Khanyi Mbau was gonna launch a tell-all biography in August, women’s day. Did i perhaps miss it or did it never happened?
Oh,by the way, what really happened to the JC bookclub?
Steve Harvey, that book of his had soo much hype but when i finally bought it i was like…duh! & whoever still read guides about relationships? Are we that helpless & desperate in issues of love? The best thing in relationships is to be urself & let ur partner be him/herself…& if u love who they are everything else will follow effortlessly. Simple.
Have a grrrrrr day bloggers.
Love,
J

Hmmm not blown away at all by the Think like a Man….synopsis.Maybe the actual movie will prove me wrong but the plot is too deja vu of a few black movies from the past.As much as I love the likes of Gab Union,I’d love to see some fresh faces in black movie castings, surely that’s not the whole talent pool….Right now I’m happy with TinTin and will be gabbing a copy of the DVD on Monday.
R Kelly’s book a defo read for me! Very colorful life he has led that one.
As for Eddie Murphy, his pulling out as Oscar host,is definitely not a time stopping moment for me.

The Ashton Kutcher twitter incident is just regrettable, while I see how his statement could quite easily be misinterpreted, you would think there are a few individuals with the presense of mind to recognise it as an error
sadly the desperation to be celebrated has created a lot of cyber monsters who have built their entire images around cyber bashing, uneccessary sarcasm and being down right nasty.
It just re affirms my resolve to stay as far away from twitter as possible and to only read the carefully selected timelines of witty, funny, intelligent and inspiring individuals.

I just really wish they wouldn’t turn every good book into a movie. Eat Pray Love was such an amazing book, a F.L.O.P as a movie. Just Not That Into You, awwwesome book. Dry and boring movie.
LOL @ Monique’s show. Seems like anyone and everyone can just get a talk show in America.

I’ll pass on Think like a man and won’t watch Steve’s show either should it come here. But I love Kevin Hart and his recyled jokes
Ashton yena, I think if he has posted another tweet saying the coach deserves the suspension and not just an apology then ppl shud get off his case but if he hasn’t then ulayekile. A few weeks back he was choking over the child abuse thing so it’s a must that he remains constant on the subject otherwise he loses credibility

mamamia on Mon, 14th Nov 2011 3:53 pm
I’m also writting a book. but instead i’ll wait with bated breath for Kim’s tell all book “Cursed by flippin good looks and crap for brains”
As for R Kelly, Ive seen the video, nothing he says or writes cn ever top that oh so sinking feeling when the best crooner in the RnB field, pees on a girl and call it foreplay.
Yeah sure it wasn’t him *singing*
As for Steve, read the book – too much hype. women have been practicising that for ages, he’s no genious for telling us what our mothers, grandmothers and ancestors already knew. If you gon touch the cookie you better marry it.
