Lerato Tshabalala Is True Love Mag’s New Editor

November 21, 2011 by

Following Sbu going to Cosmo, leaving True Love editor-less (hehehe) Lerato Tshabalala has just been appointed editor of the women’s magazine.

.

Lerato Tshabalala has carved out an exceptional career in the media industry and started out at Fairlady as a journalist, before being given the opportunity to be part of the re-launch team on Drum magazine as Women’s Editor.

She has also worked on the South Africa editions of two bestselling women’s magazines – as a Contributing Features Writer for O Magazine and a Senior Features Writer for Marie Claire.

Working as the Assistant Editor, she also formed part of the dynamic and highly talented editorial team at Media24 which launched Real magazine. A move to the Sunday Times Lifestyle magazine saw her progress swiftly from Deputy Editor to assuming full editorship of this popular weekly.

She was in charge of the Sunday Times Literary Awards and worked closely with international syndication publishing groups and book publishers. In 2004, Tshabalala scooped a prestigious Mondi Shanduka Award in the Health and Wellness category.

She takes over from 1 December, that’s the issue with Bonang on the cover.

And Palesa Mahlaba also joins True Love from Real Magazine as Fashion Editor.

Congrats to all these ladies.

I love her writing and hope she will be able to take TL back to its glory days. I haven’t bought TL in ages so Imma mos def get her first edition. I loved her as the Lifestyle editor and I’m sure she’ll do just as great on TL. Well done, Lerato.

Lerato was the reason why I bought Sunday Times, I’m super excited for her and I have to doubt she will take this mag to greater heights.

Well Palesa I don’t know much about her, but judging by her hairstyle it looks like I’m going to love her work.

Well done ladies go do us proud.

    Open letter to BS:

    Dear Lelo,

I see that two posts have been unceremoniously shut down due to a certain topic I won’t mention again. Instead of closing the comments, there should be moderation of hurtful and nasty comments because at the end of the day, the bloggers are what make this blog what it is and shutting down the comments section just screams PASSIVE AGGRESSION.

Rather have a specific post actually discussing the effect of the comments on your writers and ask the bloggers to please respect the dignity of the writers and you in return also respectfully acknowledge the contribution the bloggers have made in making this blog one of the most popular in the bloggershpere beccause at times you do come across as rude and vain when I’m sure you’re just frustrated.

    I thank you.

    The SushiQueen

Bloggers who made JC what it is today are no longer here. The likes of Fruitcake,Soul Sista,Smatsatsa Sase Welkom,Mntungwa,Cande,Buhlebonga,Dladla,Bee,Matric etc. Now those were the days and JC was the place to be. Not what we see here now.

To everyone who’s complaining about me protecting Kiki, I would love for you to please go play in traffic (the busiest road futhi) because she is not just my friend, she is one of the people who work their butts off for this site.

Kiki leaves her child at home to attend events for me so that YOU (the very same people who hate on her) can have something to read (Or complain about, seeing it’s all you do these days) and I hate having to come here and read all the negativity people spew on her.

Call me Mugabe, call me the ANC, honestly I don’t care… but I’ve had it… and if it means I have to go start off a new site somewhere I will do it but please, can all you negative commentators NOT follow us there…

And all these people who are telling me I’m wrong for closing comments, I didn’t see you writing open letters to all the people who are writing mean comments to Kiki.

As long as people continue writing nonsense about Kiki and all the other writers, from now onwards we’ll close the comments and if that’s the end of JC, as some think, then so be it. I choose my selfless friends over the negativity here.

  23. Brown Shuga on Mon, 21st Nov 2011 4:24 pm

I’m closing comments here too. *in my best ANC voice*
