The Last Movie I Saw…

January 12, 2012 by

The last movie I saw is The Ides Of March, directed by George Clooney, who also acts in the political thriller. He, however, is not the actor who’s on your mind when you leave the cinema. Ryan Gossling is.

I started taking Ryan Gossling seriously in Crazy, Stupid Love, well I thought I was seeing him for the first time but it turns out he’s the same guy from THAT romantic film, The Notebook. I “noticed”him in Crazy, Stupid, Love and thought “mmh… there’s something about this guy.”

In The Ides Of March Ryan plays Stephen Myers a hot shot young man who works on Governor Mike Morris’ (played by Clooney) presidential campaign and from his first scene nje, you know you’re gonna love him.

Clooney as Mike Morris is also quite charming and loveable, until we ( …and Stephen) discover some things about him.

The film is really good, especially if you love watching political dramas and the scheming and dealing that happens behind presidential campaigns. There’s enough suspense, drama, humour and OMG moments to make you forget Clooney’s alleged hotness.

Smart people have an explanation as to why the movie ends the way it does but I wasn’t happy. The movie ends with Stephen about to do an interview on LIVE television and you are left wondering if he was going to betray Morris or not. It’s like they are confused about how to end it so they leave you with all these theories about what happens.

That aside, I totally loved it and I need to go watch it again so I can check for mistakes & continuity.

One of my favourite lines from the movie is by Stephen to Governor Morris

“You can start a war and bankrupt the country but you can’t fuck the interns.”

The Movie Trailer:

P.S. To Kiki, yes there are black people in the movie. Well, one guy who speaks and the rest are cheering him in a meeting.

Have you seen the Ides Of March? What did you think?

What’s the last movie you saw?

Hai hai BS,there are no black actors there. The one you are talking about is just a “guy who speaks and the rest are cheering him in a meeting.” That is not acting. So ngiyabonga. *thinks of another black movie to watch. Lol

I haven’t but I’m really looking forward to watching it, Shame with Michael Fassbender, My Week with Marilyn, The Iron Lady etc. I love art house films more than Hollwood Blockbusters.. Even British films more than American films.

It’s a pity that Ryan won’t get an Oscar for this role, even though everyone is raving about it.
