On Saturday morning we packed our bags and headed to Sun International in Sandton to join celebs and other media people on an all expenses paid road trip to Sun City to take part in a cook off. I personally had fun in the bus but the journey felt longer than usual and I think it’s because I just couldn’t wait for the cook off. I had been looking forward to it for weeks. Lol

We arrived at Sun City checked in and went straight to have lunch, soon after that it was SHOW TIME.

Five teams consisting of media and celebs were paired with a professional chef from Sun City just to lead the teams and show them the 1s and 2s. Each team had 2 hours to prepare a two course meal (Starter and Main Course) with White Star maize meal being the compulsory ingredient on both meals. All of a sudden I didn’t feel like cooking so I managed to worm myself out of it somehow and for the love of JC, I grabbed my camera and did what I do best. Lol

Team Wasabi: Motlatsi Mafatshe, Thabiso, Tsholo and Zintle Makeng with their professional Chef. Team Wasabi won best starter and they each received a hamper.

Team Eagles: Menzi Ngubane, Penny Lebyane and Cga Bopha posing with their professional chef and Nikiwe from Eclipse PR.

Most of the time Menzi was on his phone. I kept on saying ‘Bra Menzi,and then?’ and he would give me that Ngamla look that says ‘Don’t mess with me’ LOL. He is a very nice and friendly man. So sad when you look at him and think of his need/cry for a kidney. We pray that his prayers get answered.

Team SeliGoboza: Lunga Shabalala and Pearl Thusi with their Professional Chef. These two I couldn’t help but feel sorry for them because both of them are Presenters of different shows and they had to cook and present at the same time. So they were all over nje and most of the time their cooking station had no one except the Professional Chef. (Another reason why I couldn’t cook, I knew I was going to miss out on the ‘action’ pictures.)

Team Bon Appetit: Kelly Khumalo, Shidi Madumo and Grace with their Chef. Bon won the best dish for their Main Course. The prize included a night at the Lost city and a full body massage, all thanks to Sun City.

After the challenge we went to freshen up and then had dinner. The next morning while others were still recovering from the previous night’s fun and clubbing some of us enjoyed the morning breeze by the Boats.

A big white stared smile to White Star’s Brand Manager Lonwabo Thinta and the entire team. You guys are indeed ‘The Clever Choice’. Thank you for everything. We love the Picnic Basket.

    And how does this benefit the regular consumer who actually supports and buys the white star product? It wouldn’t hurt to have 2 regular shoppers also win a trip to sun city to cook with the ‘celebs’. Unless I am totallly missing the point of this activation?
