Behind Zahara’s Red Dress
May 1, 2012 by Brown Shuga

When Zahara had an interview on Lights Camera Fashion (Bonang’s new E! Red Carpet typa show), we got to see how she ended up wearing a red dress for the SAMAs. She also thanked thanked NN Vintage, Nhlanhla’s clothing label for this beautiful red number.
Back in Pretoria, BORARO STYLE were disappointed that their name wasn’t also mentioned in the credits, seeing that they were the ones who put the dress together.
According to them, Nhlanhla approached them with the idea of the dress and the material.
Boraro Style put it together and it seems they got paid for labour.
They made both Zahara and Nhlanhla’s outfits, as well as the top Zaraha performed with at awards.
Since they didn’t get their shout out on television, I thought I’d give them one here because the dress (valued at R3 500) looked really beautiful on Zahara.
Boraro Style is based in Arcadia, Pretoria at Corner Church and East Avenue and you can contact them on their FB PAGE, if you’d like to get in touch.

Hayi batho barata dintho man! Is the dress not part of the NN line kanti? So they took the material and turned it into a dress and got paid for their labour (seamstress),they still want a shout out? For what? Being a seamstress? So if someone is wearing a Thula Sindi, the seamstress hired by Thula wants her/his 15sec of fame? For ini? Hayi suka! Can Zahara just shine for one without anyone trying to create some form of negativity?!

Does the label on that dress say “NN Vintage” or “Boraro Style” or “NN Vintage by Boraro Style”? Maybe I’d give my thoughts after I got the answer for that.

Sometimes I’ve got a problem with such expectations. Are musicians there to tell people about everything “as in for advertising?”
I mean really??People say what they can remember @the time and besides “they were not given a speech before,so how can we claim ukuthi :they were supposed to say abc instead of cbd???
Not having a prob with this article ShugaMomz, but just nje “In general”

That dress is soo gorgeous! In Arcadia u say? Will visit them. I hope they can sew wedding gowns too.
Lol,haai,if the seamstress wants a mention soon the person who supplies material will also want a mention, then the ones who supplied sewing machinery…yhu! We might as well have long tags on our clothes mentioning all the credits mos.

Bararo or something shouldn’t even ask to be mentioned, the dress is ugly, ill fitting, its not even a work of art so they should be glad

If the idea/design was Nhlanhla’s then they shouldn’t be mentioned, the only time they should be mentioned is when Nhlanhla bought the final product from them which means design, cloth alles is their idea. Bake bakuzwaphi amaseamstress emention-wa

They got paid so what’s their problem? If NN Vintage still owes them money they I’d understand but if they got paid in full then they must chill.

Zahara seem to be one hell of a lazy person, can she do anything by herself? Didn’t she have any idea of what she could wear to the Sama’s kwacaba everything yenzowa ngoNciza for her. Hayi nor wonder people bati yiMaid. Its time to be her own person, own decisions, own friend and hv her own jozi experience.

its not like they did not pay for the damn dress. Dear Boraro Style, if you want publicity/ or your product to be advertised, you PAY for it. or nicely ask. le teng Nhlanhla is your competitor so im sure you didnt expect them to give you free publicity… she also needs her business to grow

I thought the dress used to belong to Nhlanhla, that o apoletse Zahara, phela i saw a 5cm tear on the dress. It was torn ekhwapheni near the breast area.
Futhi the 50-something Nomathemba Madumo’s back looked fresher than Zahara’s….i smell a sabotage by Sis Nhlanhla on that front/revealed back.

But this is like asking Woolworths/Vandal Wear to credit their Suppliers (sewers in this case). uZahara asked NN Vintage to give her a dress, n NNVintage DESIGNED the dress n outsourced the sewing function to PTA. Zahara did not directly pay PTA and has no interest when NN Vintage got the dress as long as she delivered the dress…uba uyenze nabani njani akuuyo ndaba yakhe…she was right by Crediting NN Vintage abathungi bawu Creditwa ngu Nhlanhla
