lol Soccerbabe…funny u said that, one of my high school friend told me a story saka Barbs…my friend went to UNITRA now known as WSU, and she liked entering those beauty peagents typa things, now one time Babrz was a guest at one of these events, and she demanded that they all take off their stocking (my friend was the only one with stockings),coz bebefihla iminyama LOL, my friend has hated her ever since, she says BArz was jealous of her…and ke intle i chomi yam qha, and she won even without the stockings.

This past week-end my dear friend Buhle Bonga treated me to the Back to Music concert featuring live perfomance by Maxhoba,Nothende and Kaboma at an awesome new place called the Live Venue in Durban adn wow, what a concert it was. I must confess I did not know about Maxhoba but that dude is talented, his voice is smooth like milk and honey and he is hot in the looks department. He sang songs from his album Makhing History which were an uptempo mix of smooth flowing fluent Xhosa and Sotho but the climatic moment for me was when he did his version of Anthony Hamilton’s The Point Of It all…Lord have mercy. Then Nothende was up and she is one hell of a perfomer and upakile for days with curves in all the right places…umhhhh, she sang all the favourites from her album Love Light and Letta Mbulu’s Not yet Uhuru but her best was her rendition of Jessie J’s price tag and her dance moves coupled with her curvacious body had me speaking in tongues, Nothende is sexy. Then the dissappointing closing set by Kabomo. I really love him and his music but his perfomance sucked shame, he went all deep on us with some poetry nonsense with an all over the place beat. Then he sang a medley featuring Thandiswa Mazwais Nizalwa Ngobani and Hugh Masikela’s Stimela and when the crowd looked bored he ordered us to sing along, when no one sang along he went all Rev Run on use saying that South Africans need to know these songs as they are important for our history and how if it was Drake and Lil’Wayne we would be singing along, the Nerve shame!!! then he redeemed himself with a collaboration between the three of them for Good Loving whihc was amazing. It was a lovely live perfomance and I loved how the musicians socialised with the crowd afterwards.

kwakwakwa@kusi abt kabomo scolding the crowd. Hugh masekela once did that kinda nonsense to my parents back in the day. they were at a jazz nightclub and he was the performer for the night. then he went on deep with Stimela but the crowd was still jolly and laughing etc. man stopped his performance to lecture them on the importance of this song and its sadness and how it was wrong that they basically weren’t crying.

Otherwise had they been on the same advantage she would have also SAT down!
i hate people who go off at people with bullying tactics; and mostly it has something to do about imvelaphi yomntu; i aint bashing that Andile or Sthandwa cos angibazi but to me she just comes across as illmannered and she has fans who might think she tells it like it is but ke i beg to differ; Does anyone know of a chic called cocob on twitter? @lolo, aai no dear i also want to experience that , im sorry of what u going through but let me go have my taste maybe it will be diffrent to urs who knows
on sunday i saw this beutiful gal on the road, i gave her a lift she was so sweet i told her that im looking for place to rent, we exchange numbers and to my surprise yesterday she sent an sms saying she wants to get to know me better , i mean what does dat mean?
Eyh2Jee on Tue, 8th May 2012 11:44 am
1. INA ETHE
I think I’ve explained this one above
2. Uzohamb’ubuye
This tugs at the heartstrings. It draws on the old Doug Horton quote ‘If you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, its yours.’
No further unpacking necessary here.
3. Viva_The Legend
One of my personal favourites.
This is a sad song- especially if you know its background. She wrote this song for her late father- his name was Viva. She sings about how she has become the woman that she is because of her father; of how he will always be a legend in her heart and her music. This is more of a lamentation- albeit a bittersweet one. The last line in the song gets me everytime: “I hear them say your name and I know you’re alive in me”.
. Ngomso
This is a follow-on from Viva. For he promised to come back feeling a lot better, but did not. The track is beautifully arranged and her vocals just intertwine with the strings in a way that a few artists have been able to do.
What I also love about this song is that anybody can easily relate it to his/her own life.
5. Feelings
This is NOT the “leading song” on the album. For were it so, the album would be called ‘Feelings’. No?
I believe it received so much radio airplay because it speaks to the troubled relationships of many a people.
Through this song, Zonke challenges the masculinity we men so achingly cling to in our relationships and even marriages. Because of the (patriarchal) society in which we were raised, we believe “a man doesn’t talk about his feelings- he just deals with them”. This song is a every woman’s cry.
So ladies, put this one on repeat when your guy in in the room!
6. Jik’izinto
The anthem of the album. I believe this song alone explores all the avenues of this album. The sceptism she’s faced (I’m not about to get into that- but it is a WOW fact), and really her reason for singing. She makes mention of the how, the who, the why behind Zonke. And she really is changing things with her music.
I must be honest, when I first heard this song, I thought it was Judith Sephuma. And yes, this is a compliment.
I went as far as making this song my 2012 theme. I was fortunate enough to be with Zonke at a music festival in KZN on New Years’ Eve. When she was on stage singing, I decided there and then that this song sums up all our New Years Resolutions in one word: Jik’izinto!
7. Nameless
A love story. One about loving a stranger. Haven’t we all at one stage or another experienced this?
The mixed emotions that engulf our thoughts- so much so that when that stranger comes into sight, you don’t even know what to do or say. You just want to hide.
‘Nameless’ definately takes me back to those times when I’ve been in love with a stranger. You meet someone so amazing but you don’t even know their name.
Vocally, this song has something new in the album. One of the greatest things about Zonke’s voice is her range. If you listen from the first track, you’ll be immediately taken aback by the first line in this song. You would even swear its someone else singing.
8. Thank You for loving Me
The title of this song explains the content. Its a rendition of love! I love the flexibility of this song- I played it for my mother because for me it just described the love that only she has been able to give me.
The song talks about someone being there for you in your darkest hour- and telling you that “unawo amandla” (you have the strength) to get through it.
Vocally, the emotion in her voice is almost palpable. Its sincere.
9. I know a place
(Just from listening to the song) I have gathered that this is Zonke reminiscing about her childhood and her upbringing. There’s mention of her mother and her enduring love.
‘This place’ could even me psychological. She speaks of a place where she knows she can be free, and be herself with no scrutiny. I’d be led to think she is singing about her music.
10. Mzi Kaphalo
This is anything but a dance-along as the original review suggests.
Here Zonke sings about African Renaissance (not in the broader context, obviously). It speaks about achieving cultural renewal; she sings about going back to her Xhosa roots and back to her people. And no, this is not tribalism. We all have a cultural blueprint, and referring back to that from time to time helps us better understand not only ourselves, but other people (of different cultures) around us.
I’m a Zulu man, but one thing I know and respect about Xhosa people is their love for their culture.
11. When all is said and done
If you close your eyes, you’ll hear Corrinne Bailey-Rae.
This is an open-heart song; here Zonke shares her story with us.
You listen to the lyrics of this song, and you’ll know this woman is going places!
12. Sobabini
At first, I though this was your typical ‘I love you, you love me’ happy song. Boy was I wrong!
Just when you get into it, it takes a turn that you didn’t expect. It goes from being a love song to being an empowering song; “akekho onamandla okuk’tshela ukuthi ungubani” (only you are the director of your life- nobody else). Then again it goes back to that person always being there for you even when everyone else has turned their backs.
13. Chivalry is dead
I must be frank. When I first heard this song I thought WTF??? I didn’t get the Eastern-type intro to it- and I still don’t.
From my thwarted understanding of chivalry and having listened to this song a few times, this is a story of courtship. With courtship we make associations that would also be relevant to chivalry; and I think that this is the idea she plays with.
14. My song
I still think this song could’ve used a better title- but what do I know?!
I love the inference I immediately assumed- pun not intended.
Having juxtaposed the lyrics and the fact that its the last song, I can comfortably say this is Zonke’s way of saying IM HERE TO STAY! Don’t like the song itself, but I love the message it carries.
All in all, this album WILL take you on an emotional journey. It will teach you to cherish love- in its totality. It’ll teach you things about yourself that you didn’t know.
It is a definate must have.
It play it every morning to work and its helped me a lot with my roadrage- I dont swear at anyone anymore.
Do yourself a favour and get a copy.
I give it a well-deserved 11/10. This is refreshing and is rivaled by no other album in its genre! Thats that!
[Please pardon any typos- I wrote this in the wee hours of Sunday morning]

It is not worth it… Trust me… I think I have given the lesbian thing a ‘Lira publicity treatment’… it is not perfect believe me… In fact it is the opposite of perfect… Chicks are crazy! all of them… just tick with men… trust me!
You really do not wanna deal with the tears, the tantrums, the threatning, the begging, the manipulation, her saying that she loves you , then saying she hates you in the same breath, all of this followed by phenominal mind blowing sex… within the same day…who wants to deal with that though?

May 07, 2012: Here is a report about a HUGE South African singing star (think Beyonce): > Mshoza – Bleached Her Skin – Says Her Man Now Loves Her More – Photo posted in Wild videos, news, and other media | Sign in and leave a comment below! South African kwaito star Mshoza is bleaching her skin to look like the late Michael Jackson.
According to reports on gossip sites and in the Sunday Sun, Mshoza, who has already had a boob and nose job, is undergoing treatment to lighten her skin. The websites say that she started the skin bleaching process three months ago with a dermatologist in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.
The procedure also requires her to take pills on a daily basis and to use sunscreen and an umbrella whenever she goes outdoors.
The pantsula queen also told Sunday Sun:
“I love the fact that I look younger and my skin is clear. I want to be like Michael Jackson. I know that black is beautiful. I don’t hate being black. I’m just enhancing my beauty. I loved myself when I was dark, and I love myself now that I’m lighter.”
