It’s FRIDAY!!!!

Anything Goes!

I’ve learnt that we have problems yhaz, they just come in different forms. I’m now even more aware that we could be judgemental of ones behaviour without even thinking of what they may be going through. Your tea lady at work may forget to put sugar in your coffee and we may react to that. But before we judge we need to understand that they are human before anyting else. What if she left a sick child, is going through divorce, has just found out that she HIV + etc?

I wish I did not have to work today, yoh…ngikhathele shame. I am listining to the 1st Avenue breakfast show on Metro and people are calling in and sharing thier fustrations and the highest ranking complaint is the terrible service at KFC. This guy went to buy a Streetwise Two and a coke. He tells the lady that he does not want the long tom Coke but wants the regular Coke but the lady argues that the long tom coke is on special but the guy insists that he want the regular one and the lady says hey, this is not Nigeria here we serve the special and the guy says I am not fron Nigeria I am from Zambia but how rude are these cashiers though? I last week I went to Spar to buy chips and when I got to the tills there were these coloured ladies ringing up and they were just chatting and laughing about thier boyfriends while we were standing there waiting to be served anad when I finally asked what is the problem they just looked at me and yanked my stuff and started ringing it as I was leaving the cashier called me a bitch, nxah. The worst thing is that even the manager was part of the click.

Mina I have the most selfish boss ever!!! So I dont know why we dont even have an HR department, I understand it a very small company, but not paying us on the date he is supposed to is just selfishness.

So pay day is on the 25th of each month neh, he decides to only pay us yesterday!! all my debit orders bounced!! I am so annoyed!! Thing is, he is so stingy, he actually sits down and does the EFT transfers himself… Who runs a company like that!! Now I am suffering from bank charges, R115 per failed debit order, and can only claim that back end of this month.

Does anybody have a boss who is of the opposite sex?
My boss is a few years older than me and him and I have a very good relationship. I have him on BBM and we always have these casual, innocent chats on BBM as well as at the office. I never felt the need to conceal out friendship as I didn’t think it is inappropriate. However, I recently got a promotion and a lot of people around the office have changed and a friend of mine jokingly said people think something is going on between my manager and I.
I’m so hurt, upset and now I try to avoid talking to my boss and having social chats with him but the atmosphere around the office is suddenly not that great. I just hope I won’t start hating my new position because its hard to be in an environment where everybody suddenly flips on you and u are the outcast.

Morning fam

So my cousin applied for a job at the Botswana embassy in the finance department, went for the first round of interviews and it was successful, then second round came and it also went well, a bit of background on her, she’d been working in the banking industry for almost 5 years, studied towards a finance degree but due to financial constraints she couldn’t complete.

So now the HR person called her and told her that she was successful and all but they think she’s over qualified for this job and the salary, seeing that she resigned in Dec from her last job and is literally unemployed now, she decided to take this job as the pay was not less than what she was getting.
Fast forward two weeks back, they came back to her and told her to come sign the new contract, she went and did just that and was told to start today.

Now on Monday, her manager, NOT HR, sends her an email and asks her to send in her Diploma, she replied and told her that she did state that she doesn’t have one and even her CV clearly states that it’s in progress and she explicitly said so in the interview, then she just told her that she cannot get the job then. I mean, after signing the contract and all, I smell something fishy going on here, and why the need to exclude HR from this at all, I would assume that the HR department would be responsible for this and not her..
So I’m depressed on her behalf cos she’d also just found out that she’s preggies again

Smatsatsa if your cousin signed the contract and the employer signed, she can challange them at the CCMA, they hired her knowing that she does not have a Diploma, if their job requires it, they must assist her to obtain it. Check CCMA website and call their call center, they normally answer and are helpful

@caramel, surely u not at work to plz everyone, people always talk, whether u were friends with ur boss or not they were gona talk when u get ur promo. I say continue ur friendship with ur boss, as long as u do great in ur work then all is good, let the talkers keep talking and u just do wat u good at dear….this comes from someone that was once faced with the exact same situation as urs, and fortunately for me I am not the kind to entertain talkers or care about belonging to some groups at work, u there to kick ass so do jst that with a smile in ur face and joy in ur heart that God chose u to outshine at ur workplace..happy friday evening peeps…
