Ready For The Vodacom Durban July?
July 2, 2012 by Brown Shuga
This year’s theme It’s A Material World and Vodacom plans to welcome their guests to the highlife with a 72 hours non stop party!

I never get excited about these events but for some reason I’m looking forward to this year’s DURBAN JULY!
The big question is what’s everyone wearing?
I’ve never been to the July before so those of you who’ve been, share your tips!
What’s the best time to get there?
Flats or heels?
Best and Worst Marquee?
Are there Dos and Donts for the Durban July?
Sicel’ukwazi!

Ladies please find a proper dress, thou shall not wear curtains. Make sure your dress, shoes and accessories dont clash. Hair: Buy a proper weave and get it done by a pro, nt your cousins friend from high school. The same with braids, cornrows, etc. OMG the makeup has to be on point looking like a scarecrow and grey like isdumbu is not on and dont even try going with that drag queen look, go to Edgars, foschini, truworths and ask a consultant to do you. Ensure that you can walk in your shoes, tired of gals walking like theyve got cement on their feet.
Babyluv on Mon, 2nd Jul 2012 11:50 pm
Madoda please dont wear those stupid shiny suits and no dont you dare wear a white linen 1. Please find a fitted suit. Wash, shave, get your hair trimmed, go get a manicure. Remember black belt is best. Dont you dare wear white socks, your not Michael Jackson.
Babyluv on Mon, 2nd Jul 2012 11:54 pm
Oh ja ladies 1 more thing. Wear proper underwear, especiali the bra, make sure its the fit and size. Have fun ladies and gents
Zida on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:10 am
Brown Sugar, flats are ideal because one does a lot of walking. But flats usually don’t look good with most couture dresses. I say wear you high heels and keep your flats in your car. By the time the horse races are over, nobody is checking for your fashion sense anyway.
As for the marquees, MTV one was HOT last year. And of course, Mabheleni’s. Miller is another sought after one. You can pick and choose.
My dululu wants us to go to Cape Town so I’ll miss it this year. He’s even got tickets to a Joe Sample’s show on Sunday. But ke, ngavuma ngavuma. I can’t really abandon ubambo lwami. *winks*

I’m looking forward to it too as it’ll be my first time.
I’ll be at the Vodacom Marquee, hoping to find myself a hot and single Vodacom Exec.
Lela and I were even talking about how I’ll tell you all about my hot exec. Ndizakuya kwa mayi mayi ndiyofuna something to make sure I come back with a hot man. I need me a rich man in my life yoh!
Miranda on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 5:27 am
In April,I wanted to go to the pre and post parties, but I am lazy…and the guy I share an office with wants to go so bad.I just don’t want to sit in the car for 6 hrs,its too late to book a flight,…oh plus,I would have to look for a dress…that means go to shops, and fit…hai hai hai hai, Ek is moeg.
How much is the ticket? Enjoy hle lena.
Biskiti on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 8:21 am
Yhooooooo BS, I am so looking forward to the Durban July. I’ve decided that such events are not about me, so i’m just gonna go through my wardrobe and rock my sunday bests (for main event) + have a smart casual outfit on the side for di after parties.
Ladies, do wear your heels, mara have those gogo-shoes not so far away cause there’s plenty of walking (if moving from marquee to marquee)!
Ladies & Gents, please le ska lahla kopele tuu, HIV is still a reality!!

Vesa on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 8:57 am
@Fezzy….yekela omunye umntwana tu (sp)! She doesn’t even twitpic herself at functions anymore because of JC bloggers laughing at her outfits
Buhlebonga on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 9:08 am
Babyluv has it spot on. If you follow her advice, you’ll be fine.
I don’t like the VDJ, I’m working again this year.
The best time to arrive is 12 midday! That’s when the event is actually starting to gain some momentum. For marquees, it depends what you want. I like the Vodacom Paddock because it’s got a chilled vibe, Lifestyle Oasis because it’s awesome and the Sibaya Casino Sun International because it really has all the super VVIP people in there. It’s a networker’s dream.
See you there BS
sxylin on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 9:08 am

Sips187 on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 10:26 am
Im sorry but the Mabheleni marquee is like the armpits of the VDJ. All the arbs will be packed like sardines there & you cant even catch some air. Lifestyle Oasis never disappoints shem. Have fun to all that are going & remember what happens in VDJ stays in VDJ except for STD’s, those suckers will follow you home

Smatsatsa on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 12:11 pm
Kwaaaaa! Sxylin, yes he does look gay..
Hmmm, @Sips187 AKA Eda Rose, mina I’ve also heard stories aabout him, bathi uthanda amantombazana huuuureeeee! Wud do anything for nookie, and he’s got quiet a temper, heard he also deliberately caused an accident while him and his ex were driving? True not true???
Sips187 on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 12:23 pm
Where do I start with this boy,,,he’s arrogant, has a mind of a toddler, belives in his own hype & thinks he’s a panty-dropper. And i’ve always thought he had gay tendencies, you should see how he dresses, I mean who the hell still wears button-down shirts that show your un-waxed chest in this century. This is not Saturday Night Fever
sxylin on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 12:25 pm
ahhhh hahahaha Smatsatsa tell us more! eish mgosi meaning this man is a drama freak = gay tendencies aka Joneigh tendencies *dont kill me my friend* RUNS FOR DEAR LIFE*

Kwaaaaaaaa! haai bahlali you are killing me DEAD! Sips187 o nale ditaba man! do we have a new Mamabearlove on our hands?
Smatsatsa on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:05 pm
Heee heee @Letebele! How do you know that he’s got a niknak?? Ngathi indaba ziningi la ekhaya..
He was dating that girl from Mpumalanga right, who was in Miss SA at some point with a loong face, her name escapes me right now..
I heard they were involved in a car accident, he was still driving his TT back then, so apparently they were having an argument and he went straight for the oncoming truck!!
If that aint cray cray then I don’t know what is..
sxylin on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:06 pm
but smatsatsa did he do it on purpose?
Smatsatsa on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:16 pm
Yes, bathi that’s what the ex said..
Loulou on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:21 pm
Speaking of the VDJ, I happened to be sitting next to Mabheleni at a party last week (he gave us so much Ace I was still drunk on Friday night!!!!). anyway, the oke invites us to the July – he says everything will be taken care of! Do girls/women still believe things like that? O_O
Sips187 on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:21 pm
Hhawu Kimmo, now i gotta give my biography. I thought the purpose of this blog was so one can remain anonymous. I am too old to be the young & luscious Eda, I was her five years ago. Kade ngigudla la emhlabeni so now I’ve been put out to pasture in the confines of matrimony. Thats what happens to retired ‘smart’ GD!
FunLover on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:25 pm
The theme is “A Material World” with a focus of “going green”. To stick to the theme, you must have made a dress out of newspaper/hemp material for example… It would be interesting to see how many abantu abamnyama will do this theme justice… what with some only asking now what to wear *cough*
kimmo on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:27 pm
@sips187 you sound like alexis so am just checking hehehehe
Fezzy on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:27 pm
Hehehe FunLover why are you sub blogging Lelo now?
FunLover on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:28 pm
comfortable Wedges would make your outfit a lot edgier than flats is suppose. Or get heelstoppers for your heels, obviously, 4 walking on the grass.
FunLover on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:30 pm

Smatsatsa on Tue, 3rd Jul 2012 1:31 pm
