Remona Moodley: Our Miss World Representative

July 30, 2012 by

The 62nd edition of Miss World will be held on 18 August 2012, in Ordos, China and South Africa will be represented by Remona Moodley. Here’s a bit of information about our Representative:

Remona works as a Business Analyst having graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. She describes herself as an ambitious, dynamic and creative person. Her interests include embroidery, fishing, squash and tennis, and she says her favourite food is anything cooked by her mother.

One-on-One with Remona Moodley:

What projects are you currently involved in?

  •  I am a member of Mensa – a society for people with an IQ in the top 2 percent.

Who is your Role Model?

  • My Dad is my role model and mentor. As a young person he had to drop out of school to help his family financially by painting sari’s and selling samoosas. Determined to give his own family a better life than his own, he did not let his circumstances determine his future. Through hard work and perseverance, he now owns his own business. My father always encouraged me to go after everything I wanted and assured me that failure is often delayed success.

Who is your favourite local band/artist?

  • Lindiwe Suttle. Her music is so soulful and her intimate live performances make for a great night out with close friends.

Who is your Celebrity crush?

  • Alexander Johan Hjalmar Skarsgård (Eric in True Blood)

What are your favourite SA hot spot / holiday spot?

  • Cape Town will always be my favorite holiday destination. I studied there for a few years and felt like I was on holiday every day.

Your Style/fashion tip?

  • It is not so much about what you wear but how you wear it.

What is your Pet Peeve?

  • Bad manners

Shem she is not that bad…i think she misunderstood the question, is she not the one who gave the best answer at Miss SA?

I am so disappointed Maryke did not make it to Idols Top Ten, her dress style worked against her shem, mara i still think it was not fair from Top 18 to Top 10, they should have made it Top 12 at least.

  16. Soccerbabe on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 11:12 am

For the first time I think SA stands a chance of taking the title, she’s very intelligent this woman and mybe why she didn’t answer the question asked here could be her company policy doesn’t allow employees to discuss their clients or even reveal the projects they working on to the public. I think she’s gorge!!! All d best Remona!

  17. Monei on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 11:33 am

@Soccerbabe, one needs to see the competition first before we can rank our chances. tltltl.I follow Miss Botswana on fb- and them women are beautiful- frm the pics shez posted up. if shez misunderstanding simple q’s like that- nna i’m scared. i dnt think they were even asking about work projects so she cud’ve sed her charity work or sumthing.

anyways, she’z also trying out to be an Eastern Mosaic presenter. Saw her for the first time yday and i recognise her here coz she she what and where she studied and that she’z a BA for a consulting firm.

  18. kamzababy on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 11:44 am

Haai Soccerbabe i think they were asking her gore as Miss Sa 1st princess which projects is she currently working on i.e charity wise etc like Monei said

  19. Miranda on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 11:48 am

Either she didn’t understand the question or she has no projects going on at the moment.

Ladies, don’t be fooled……..she is smart, Electrical Eng @ UCT is a beast, not every one makes the last two years of that degree in record time.It kicks ass.And she did it.

She was in the same group with one of my friends during a technical project at a conference and apparently she is a beast too.

  20. kamzababy on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 12:07 pm

nna im not disputing gore o “smart” i was just asking if being a MENSA member is a project nah… unless ale involved ka setting of the questions/psychological part of it that’s all but still

  21. Applepurple on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 12:37 pm

if taking 6 years to complete electEng is record time then she is a beast, but if its suppose to be 4years she is no beast in my eyes.

  22. nana on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 12:56 pm

LMAO!! Ya’ll are funny though..I also read her answer and went WTH!! I still wish her well though on Miss World.

  23. kamzababy on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 1:02 pm

tell us more Applepurple… i always say gore they always trying too hard to sound smart…look at Zamajobe nou

  24. Mojito on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 1:36 pm

She can have the higherst IQ & be the smartest at Miss World, that means nothing. & from Miss World is all about projects you do in your community & they promote beauty with a purpose, if being smart got you far then the likes of Tansey Coetzee (former Miss SA, probably with the lowerst IQ of all) would have never been considered as reps for SA in such competitions, & as i said in my previous comment “Uhhhhmm… All the best Remona, but iam not so optomistic hey.,” She is smart yes.

  25. Monei on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 1:54 pm

shem. nna i will help her answer the q properly.
    “i am national director of…” http://www.fundadreamfoundation.org/site/about-us/meet-our-team

  26. jolene on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 2:11 pm

i think you should just google MENSA to understand what she means coz nne i now understand her answer. she really does sound smart.

  27. Eyh2Jee on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 2:12 pm

@Monei: damn!!!!The people of this company ARE EDUCATED MOER!!!I wanna get there.
By the way,I’m sure this chick completed her studies on time. Most Indians are very focused individuals. They study hard and party kancane ;P

  28. Applepurple on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 2:40 pm

@kamza, it’s mot much to tell, but she finished in 6 years instead of 4 years and this is a fact.
If she is that smart her education should not be the point of reference, coz lamtana was not a dean’s merit list material.

  29. Monei on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 2:45 pm

kwaaaaaaaaaaaa@ApplePurple.Apparently, as per one other site, in her final yr she completed one yr of commerce concurrently….

  30. Miranda on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 2:50 pm

    @Applepurple, I said the LAST TWO years…

  31. Applepurple on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 2:58 pm

she did those commerce courses over two years, 4th and 5th year. and that’s not rock science since most engineering students take electives from commerce.remember she got ha degree in her 6th year.
@Miranda so u saying u can fail and fail as long as you survive the last 2 years you are a beast?

  32. kamzababy on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 3:00 pm

jolene i know what MENSA is and i dont have to google it. ITS NOT A PROJECT!!!!

  33. Miranda on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 3:45 pm

The two final years are hard and if can you complete them with commerce extras(not electives) on the side at the same time…then you sure are good. And it doesn’t sound like she did them as an elective as per Monei comment.

  34. Miranda on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 3:50 pm

I hear they don’t hire average people ko McKinsey & Company, and that is were she is working.

Makes me wonder how she go in

    #drops mic#

kwaaaaa! u two mara. they hire bright ppl. she must be bright. nami i consider myself bright despite failing post grad accounting a number of times. tltltltl

  39. kamzababy on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 4:03 pm

lmaoooo mara are bue nnete shem. bona ba bothlale but not all of them and most of them dont need to have a completed degree to be considered for an article position or training contract… mara rona badi batla shem.

  40. Eyh2Jee on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 7:21 pm

st least she doesn’t need a degree completed (record time)to represent us ko’Miss World neh…lol

  41. Applepurple on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 7:22 pm

    *picks the mic up*
i’m not saying the girl is not smart, just that her education should not be used as point of reference coz mna as a person who knows her marks and stuff beg to differ…and true Mckinsey doesn’t hire average Joes, but they consider so many things like what extra-mural activities you did during your varsity days. as you can see she did lots of stuff. but nje her transcript alone isn’t that great.

    thank you

  42. MissGalaxy on Mon, 30th Jul 2012 9:31 pm

hae…nna Im still waiting on the reason y Ms Bam is not the one representing SA. can those who’ve researched Moodley (thoroughlyo.0) please work harder at finding that out for me. assomblief tog
