The Bonang DRUMa!

I feel like we have exhausted this topic on Twitter. Bonang is fuming about Drum and how they are selling this cover as if they interviewed her EXCLUSIVELY. At first I didn’t get it but after talking to a journo friend, I sorta get it.

Bonang is mad because if you look at this cover, you are led to believe the she directly spoke to them and told them “I didn’t have an abortion, I’m not a drug addict, He’s tryint to destroying me”, which are all things that were relayed to the magazine by her publicist and lawyer.

In terms of them using a picture of her, well, we don’t see Sunday Sun or any tabloid asking anyone for permission to use their picture on a covers… It seems Bonang’s rant was more to distract us from what’s really in the article and to some extent, it worked.

In addressing that:

Whether or not she had an abortion is personal and she is entitled to choose. I”m sure there are people at Drum and all over the world who have also had abortions. Abortion isn’t illegal here and judging by those medical records/statements contained in the article, it was NOT a backstreet one, she was still within the allowed time frame so there is no crime here.

You know whenever there is gossip about Bonang, talk of this tape comes up. Some say it’s a sex tape on a roof with Da Les, some say it’s a tape of her and whoever else taking drugs, you get different stories, depending on who you are talking to and recently the stories running around were that Euphonik is in possession of tha tape and that’s why Bonang wasn’t saying anything. I just think if this tape existed it would have been out a long time ago so I don’t think it’s one of those urban myths. Give us a link so we know it’s real or shut up… there is no tape!

Anyway, my thoughts on the DRUMa thing: They were hella shady for putting those quotes up there and can Bonang’s lawyer stop giving them statements and sue them instead… As for the actual story in the magazine, it’s gossip like any of their other stories so let’s not get our panties wet just coz they are dishing dirt on our favourite star. They wrote about Brenda, they wrote about Lebo, they will most definitely write about Bonang. Comes with fame so our lady must just deal with this like she’s dealt with all the past DRUMa in her life.

Hope the rumours I’m hearing about YFM trouble are not true. One problem at a time please man.

I do think the person who mentioned Ntsiki Mazwai’s -ro, cause you can’t really call it an Afro since there is waaaaay too much hair missing, touch on a very important issue. It needs to be discussed. Yes I’m ignoring the B* issue because I really do not know much about her.

Ntsiki Mazwai’s hair neh, like I didn’t even know her, and then I saw her on 3 Talk busy discussing weaves and why they are bad. The way I was so shocked, I even fell off the couch….simply because I noticed the colour of the couch she was sitting on through her hair. Like…*blank stare*, forget that God decided to NOT give her a normal hairline, the lack of hair is sad. Weaves are for PEOPLE LIKE HER! If you are reading this, please get a weave or cut that hair!

The biggest issue I had with this mag is getting Bonang’s confidential medical records and publishing them. That’s stooping 6 feet under right there. What happened to doctor/patient confidentiality? Celebrity of nie, everbody has a right to human dignity and respect.

I’m no Bonang’s fan but her abortion has nothing to do with the case. Very soon they will publish people’s HIV records in the name of selling their magazine!

As for drum, if they dont repport on the Bonang story what story must they report on? I believe there was a communication between Bonang and drum. I believe they did ask her if the abortion claims are true or not and drum quoted her answer. Publications dont have to interview you to be able to quote you. I dont think the cover was misleading either.

Drum was so wrong to do what they did. If Bonang had refused to speak and referred them to her lawyers I would understand, but they took it upon themselves to speak to her lawyers whom I think will be fired upon her return from NY.

Anyway, I agree with people who want to discuss Idols because I think this year will be one of the competition’s memorable years.
The talent is just out of this world.
As for the white people, they are so pissed to the point where they even say that this is a BEE idols blah blah blah and that MNet is pushing for a black winner. Hey man, they will just have to be strong shem.
Regardless of what they say, I see this year’s winner being young and black.

(Sorry for generalising) must just chill, there weren’t more than 6 black contestants on Idols last year. You didn’t see us complaining. They always have something to complain about. As much as I’m not Bonang’s fan, I strongly feel it was unethical of Drum Magazine to publish her “confidential” medical records. What happened to doctor/patient confidentiality? Thanks guys. She can sing, but isnt a strong vocalist like the rest. But watch this space soon she’ll be releasing an album le yens. Pity they killed her character on Rhythm City, she probably would’ve been signed to redemption records

While Bonang Matheba did not avail herself for an interview I personally met with her legal representatives to discuss the merits of our story.
