If you saw the story about Pearl Thusi being called in for questioning in connection with the FB Rapist and wondered what it’s all about, well, let’s connect the dots…

It started with Pearl’s exclusive to Heat talking about her brush with Thabo Bester the Facebook Rapist. I didn’t read the story so not sure what’s in it…

Pearl’s Heat story was followed by an interview Daily Sun did with the Facebook rapist (deathby this title). In the interview, Thabo told the paper he had taken Pearl to where the bodies are, even though she didn’t know there were bodies hidden there.

and the cops had to be all dramatic and go fetch her from an event…

“The drama unfolded on Tuesday night when police from the Gauteng Crime Intelligence Unit went to the SABC1 Tshisa launch in Braamfontein. Pearl, dressed in a sexy black outfit, was just about to walk the red carpet when cops pounced. The SunTeam watched as the shocked beauty cried her eyes out as she was escorted to a police van by the officers and taken to Hillbrow Police Station. She was supposed to MC the event and she had to be replaced by Selimathunzi presenter Zizo Beda.” Daily Sun

    Dear goverment, please bring back death penalty for rapists I beg you. This society we live in is sickening, where our kids and women are not safe, hai suka. So this guy is proud of himself that he raped, killed nd buried people, why should it be Pearl’s job to show the cops where he buried the bodies, as cops can accompany him to the place akere and he shows them himself where he buried them? Something ain’t making sense here.

    Eish some guy was setenced to 3 life terms here yesterday and conditions are he might be eligable for parole after 35 years. The guy murdered his ex girlfriend and her 2 sisters, just imaging a mother losing all her kids because some lunatic idiot couldn’t accept that relationships do end. And his family is delusional and saying that their son is innocent and that he is a good man, nxa.

    Fistaz must just sit down nje and stop making noise. The poor girl was almost raped and killed and he is rejoicing because she broke the news that he was cheating with Amu’s wife.

    When you have information of such national urgency you aren’t suppose to withhold it from the law enforcement officers. That’s defeating the ends of justice. She could have went to the law enforcement officers straight away, not share it w/ the tabloids first. The tabloids aren’t cops. Even though she didn’t know that there were dead bodies where ever she was w/ the FB psycho, but the fact is they met. It’s a possible lead for a criminal investigation.

    The only issue w/ these cops is the manner in which they handled the situation. Calling a village of cops to arrest a single potential witness is just insane. It’s not like she’s the criminal!

    SAPS are just dramatic, I think they are actors in hiding. Last time at work they bought 3 vans and had guns for a dude who refused to pay child support. Like really? All he had to do was sign a form for appearign in court.

    As for Pearl she was supposed to forward this information to the popo instead of wanting spotlight in heat magazine. She went about it the wrong way.

    I think about two weeks ago on Khozi fm’s afternoon show with Sqhemeza & Mableh,they had a telephone interview with Pearl regarding this.What she said was she met up with the Facebook rapist cant remember where & he said he was working in the industry looking for talent in acting,modelling & all. So Pearl fell for it and they ended up taking a drive to his so called offices,she realised after a long time that the drive to the offices was too long and they are now driving towards a shady place. So as she was still confused the guy pulled a knife on her,she begged him not to harm her & told him that she will get him some help through a church & prayers.I ddnt hear how she got away but the guy robbed her & took her laptop & other stuff.I dont know how the whole saga ended,but that’s the bit I heard on radio.

    thanx Koeks! unfortunately thats how this sick person lied to all his victims. the other gal she lied to was lucky that he didnt take her phone away so she was able to tweet her sister/friend. he told her they going for a photoshoot in durban/cape town and they took a Greyhound bus.

    Bester — known previously as “Thomas”, one of numerous aliases — was arrested last Wednesday in Alberton, south of Johannesburg.

    He was dubbed the “Facebook rapist” because he used new media, including Facebook, to lure women.

    He told them international modelling scouts were interested in them. Bester would then rape and rob the women at knife-point.

    I also heard her interview on Ukhozi. She said, she begged the dude not to take her laptop & phone coz the items weren’t insured. She talked him out of it by saying uzomyisa esontweni bamubeke izandla ngoba usathane ubusa impilo yakhe. Then took the guy to church and apparently he had changed, athi she lost contact with him then a month later she heard that the dude’s been busted. She then decided to do the exclusive interview with Heat magazine. And the place that they went to iseSouth, she said she doesn’t remember where exactly it is.

    I read the magazine. He got in her car not the other way around. Apparently she negotiated with him to let her go, in the process she took him to her pastor who counselled him and gave him a bible, at the time she thought he was just an ordinary hungry thief, the police were called and they took him home cos she declined 2 press charges. It was only months later when his identikit was all over the papers that she realised who he was. She said she would be willing to testify if the police called on her and she still has the knife he pulled out on her. The whole point of that interview was to warn other women about the dangers of taking things at face value and trusting strangers who offer u a job without verifying the info they give u.

    Before we judge Pearl, bear in mind that this is the same Thomas Bester who told the daily sun he was dating CC Ravele, they met in high school and she was cheating on Psyfo with him. Pearls incident happened way before he started raping and killing the women he would rob.

She just likes things, and now she got what she wanted. Thomas Bester did his job and made her the talk of the town. So she shouldn’t complain!!!     Sorry shame, girls need to realise that if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is, and they should do their due diligence. But Nooooo, they are too busy chasing a quick buck, that they end up in situations like these!There is a lot of awareness w.r.t meeting up with strangers from networking sites, but they still go and do it anyway. Like that Nomfundo girl that was murdered in CPT, the “aspiring model”, if she did a background check on this “international model scout”, she’d still be alive, but Noooo she went to Cpt to “audition” in a hotel room?!     Hey bloggers. Here’s my “2 rands” worth.

    1st of all, it grinds my nuts when people say incensitive things just to seem like “they telling it like it is” or “they’re being real”, because nobody deserves to get raped &/or murdered because they weren’t cautious enough.

    Yes there are awareness campaigns & all that, but criminal psychologists have many times noted the intelligence of some criminals and what great lengths they’ll go to to seem legit &/or prey on the weaknesses of they’re victims.

    So no Dopey, she Pearl & any of the other victims didn’t get what they deserved. If you don’t feel sorry for them it ok, it your mind, but that certainly does not mean they deserved what they got.

    @Backstabber sometimes as Christians (I’ve seen it in myself) we believe that the same God that helped us can change others as He has changed us. That’s what I think happened with Pearl.. Like NQOBILENNN said Pearl thought that the guy was an ordinary crook who could change and have a testimony but clearly not! Maybe jail will teach him a lesson or two.
    And I also think the rapist is an attention seeker – telling the police about Pearl because she’s on tv. Why doesn’t he just tell them where the bodies is? Is Pearl the only survivor?
