CONFIRMED: Braxton Family Values Interview set for August 16th, 2012.

When this email subject line came across my computer, I almost passed out.  I have been a fan of the entire Braxton family for a number of years. The world was introduced to the family via Toni Braxton’s phenomenal R&B success in the early 90’s but the Braxton’s have re-entered the spotlight recently, serving up a whole lotta sass in their new hit show Braxton family values on Vuzu.

The show stars Toni, Traci, Trina, Towanda, Tamar (the star of the show) and family matriarch Miss E. The reality series has been such a huge success that it’s spawned off a new spin off- Tamar & Vince set to premiere in the US in September.

I always dress up for celebrity interviews cause it just puts a little pep in my step. It gives me that extra boost of confidence. At 2:50pm sharp I walked into the luxurious NYC hotel suite to meet the Braxton’s sisters including Mama Evelyn but sans Toni Braxton. As soon I stepped foot into the hotel Tamar jokingly stated “Uh-no, you showing off today. I’m a have to go and change, I can’t be upstaged,” She said this in jest of course but that just gives you a sense of how funny Tamar is. It was great for me cause it gave me a chance to let my guard down and really let loose with the sisters.

So here’s the thing, they are all beautiful up close and personal. Even with the makeup, hair and bling the sisters looked good. We began with a series of questions about the group. I asked them all who was the most competitive and Tamar stated “Oh Toni Braxton! Are you kidding me? She is a straight up Libra. She hates to lose” I was not expecting that at all but I guess that makes sense given how driven the multiple Grammy Award winner is.

I moved on to 39 year old Towanda was dressed in beautiful black tuxedo-esque romper. She told me that she founded a personal celebrity assistant school and has a number of students already enrolled. So if you ever dreamed of being celeb assistant, you better holla at your girl Towanda.

Trina and I are very similar. We both have not met a drink we didn’t like. She told me that she has “wine-pica” Startled and confused I asked “what’s that?” in between laughs told me, “Pica is when someone has an oral fixation for different things. Some people eat cotton balls or toilet paper. I drink wine. I have wine-pica” Hehehe she is hilarious.

I’ve had my doubts about reality shows and had to ask Traci if their show was really real or an enhanced version of their lives. The newly blonde 40 year old, Mom of one vehemently stated “It is all real”.

The one who really made my mouth drop to the floor was none other than Momma  Evelyn. As you have seen on the show, Miss Evelyn was..for lack of a better word..done dirty by the girls’ father Mr. Braxton. After years of being together, he stepped out on their marriage with another woman. So I just had to ask if she still believed in love and her answer left me reeling.

“To be honest with you, I think it’s wonderful for the young people, I think they should experience it but I think love is overrated. And I will tell you why” She continues on “First of all, it messes with your emotions, secondly it messes with your mind and blood pressure. It makes you ill, when things are not going well. For me, I don’t want it.” Well, after going through what the infidelity brought on by the girls’ father, I understand. The sisters however were quick to tell that their Momma that her statement “reeked of bitterness”. When I tell you they kept it all the way real with me? Honey..

Tamar is really sweet. She has this infectious energy that just fills up the room. As you may know she is married to Vince Herbert who is Lady Gaga’s manager. Tamar is also working on a new music material that will drop on September 20, the same day her spin off series premieres.

Are we checking for Tamar’s music? I will be honest; my curiosity is piqued because of her boisterous personality. Can she deliver the goods? People have often whispered about her being jealous of Toni Braxton’s success and the outspoken diva had a thing or two to say about that “I think that’s absolutely ridiciouslous, I don’t even have that competitive bone like that. I look up to my sister and I always have” And there you have it!

By the way the Braxton’s want to visit South Africa badly and the one message they have for you, their fans is filled with gratitude.  Tamar started off by saying “Thank you so much for the support and love. And at the end of the day, we are just so glad that you guys watch the show cause it represents all families, so thank you so much ” Trina chimed in “See you on TV and twitter”

    I loooove Tamar, she is so full of life and crazy on the show, heck i love the entire family, their personalities complement each other so well. I loved that one song of Tamars that was a hit back then, still listen 2 it so im sure her new album is gonna rock.

    I love love The Braxton’s Family Values. Always laugh my ass off everytime. But Tamar ke bothata akere, that girl doesn’t shut up.com (as she would say it). Tony is the quite one I think- now this is one reality show I take pride in watching.

    So what happened to The Braxton’s sisters album?

    Off topic:Eish ke boregile. I slpt late and I hate bng disturbd in my slp. Mom calls I pressed silent and went bk to slp. She kept callin til I returned her calls only nw kanti she was having a break-in. Thank God they ddnt take anythn and its the 2nd tym arwd nje in less than 2months. Yoo.

    Oh Thanks Makho! I looove the show. Its the best reality show I’ve ever seen. Even better than Kardashians. I used to think Taiwanda was the eldest, followed by Toni, Traci, Trisha and Tamar. Who is the eldest?

    Shame poor Traci is the black sheep of that family. She is very insecure and in the background. Being overweight sometimes does not help.

    I recently got to watch this show, it seems real hey. Love it!
    Tamar has drama neh but she’s entertaining!

    Seems like there’s a lot of unresolved issues between Miss E and ex-hubby tjooo the scene at the restaurant!
    Well hopefully they finally get to record that “Braxton album” :)

    I would agree that this show is real. They are not over the top, making it easy to relate in a way. I have even grown back to love Toni again, she is very humble and her life experiences with bankruptcy and illness just make you realise that we all struggle with something. My brother had a Braxtons album from way back in the day, the one without Toni and Traci- the wannabe, so there are some people who will certainly buy their music when they eventually record and release an album. #LOVE them, Tamar is just the bomb.com.

    i love this show so refreshing!
    Toni Braxton is so beautiful inside and out ..I wish she cud be as big as she used to be ,she really sings beautiful man.

    I love this family. I loved So Many Ways, Who’s The Boss and yes I have all of Toni’s Albums on my phone. My favourite though is Love Shoulda Brought You Home from Boomerang. Ungichaza kabu when she says ‘Your kinda love my darling, I just don’t need.’

    love this show to bits, these girls seem real and you can relate to them somehow cause its not too over the top. i actually had the braxtons album,the one without toni and traci-the wannabe,lol. and it was a good listen with good singing voices so i would most certainly buy their album whenever they are ready to release one. Toni just shows how humbling being through bankruptcy and illness can make you be, no one is immune to life’s challenges. Love both her and Tamar.com, its really a great show.
