John Legend Was Okay
August 13, 2012 by Brown Shuga
… yeah, there was nothing special about his performance, and anyone who went to any of his other shows in SA will agree.
I’ll admit after Get Lifted he lost me as a die hard “know-all-the-words-to-his-songs” fan so maybe my opinion on his performance is based on the fact that he mostly performed songs I didn’t really pay attention to, or like. I also got the idea nje that ebe zi performela yena… Vocally he was on point no doubt, and I saw some people tweeting about how awesome the performance was, I’ve seen and heard better from him. The first time I saw him was in December 2005 at the MTV Base Live concert, I attended his JHB concert and it was so great, I followed him to the Cape Town leg of the tour.
Back to the recent performance… he got the Sandton Convention Centre on their feet when he performed “Tonight”… and I’m glad there were no funny remixes, he did it the way we know it and we loved it!
As he ALWAYS does… he sang… then left the stage. Those who’ve never been to his shows started leaving but we didn’t move because we knew that was the part where we are supposed to scream “We want more ” and he comes back to perform the last 2 songs, ending off with that “I will stay with you…” song.
He did exactly that… then he said goodbye.
Thanks to Tbo Touch for the tickets to the concert. My ticket winners had a great time and don’t share my sentiments on John’s performance.
Lastly, we wish John Legend a speedy recovery, on getting back home in NY, he went to see the Dr due to the flu…
“Ain’t this what you came for… don’t you wish you came more…” flu

BS, I think I saw you or someone that looks like you, were you wearing a yellow blazer?arrived late?
Vesa on Mon, 13th Aug 2012 8:51 am
I have to agree with you BS on the show. It was just ok, mind you I’m a huge John Legend fan that even plays those songs that BS skips on the cd. I have attended all his concerts here, including the last one that was at the dome with Keri Hilson……boy they were all out of this world! Not this one ya Friday…..and I felt sorry for people that paid R1 750 for that ok concert. If it was their first time, then it’s fine but they were cheated.
Maybe it’s because he was sick as well, cause he tweeted that he was under the weather.

I arrived at the show while Unathi was performing her last song, because I had been in a very long queue. Thank God, I can’t stand her singing. So, perfect timing for me.
I ABSOLUTELY loved MICASA, but why did they stop their performance so abruptly? The band members were not even announced, there was no goodbye. It was just stopped, just like that. J Something is quite something, ke majaivane. He killed the performance. When he did the “Teka munike” and “shake your bum bum”, I was too happy.
John and his hot self, came in, greeted the crowd sang and left. Nothing Legendary about his performance.
I hear that the VVIP seating section was absolute shambles, with the so called celebrities taking people’s seats. The drinks and dinner that was part of the package was also apparently a disaster. No such drama ko di extra strong, where I was sitting.
Why were they playing Michael Jackson and other crap music during intervals? How about you play Micasa, Unathi or JL during the interval? #bad planning

Last week I realized how much loyalty I have for Lelo. I was her friend on fb and I was so offended when she dissed Camagwini(I love her music with my all) I deleted her. Because I believe so much in her talent I thought I will give her a second chance on JC, I was there since inception, changed a username once but I have always been here.
Last week when she was not calling me about the ticket, I had mixed emotions, I thought uyangicrossa and was so tempted to write on JC that ungicrossile. I thought but she can’t do this to me,its unlike her (as if I know her personally). But I have been following her for a while now and I was like “Lelo worked so hard to be where she is she can’t ruin it nge thikithi”. I gave her another chance and waited…Guess what she called and the rest is HIS story (John Legend)
Lelo sibamba ngazo zozibini kwaMiya!

John needs to stop coming to SA if he has nothing new to offer!!!!!!!!! haaaaii
Vesa on Mon, 13th Aug 2012 4:07 pm
@chilled sweet….it’s not his fault that he keeps coming here. It’s the promoters’ fault.
He just tweeted that even if he wasn’t feeling well, he still came cause he couldn’t let the people of SA down after what happened last time….guess he’s referring to that disaster that was the Mpumalanga what what
chilled sweet lemonade on Mon, 13th Aug 2012 4:53 pm
ohhhhh….haiii but still…
Ice on Tue, 14th Aug 2012 11:11 am
@BlindFold, I fully agree with you. That chick needs an intervention to tell her to STOP!!!!
One thing is for sure though, her manager is doing a damn good job getting her all these gigs, when she is so talentless.
