EXCLUSIVE: Live from the MTV Video Music Awards 2012

The hardest decision that I had to make about attending the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards was what to wear. You really cannot attend awards like the VMA’s looking anything less than extra-ordinary. As luck would have it, I was able to get a gorgeous green romper on short notice from a talented designer out of Brooklyn named Prajje. Isn’t it a thing of beauty? I know I was a little exposed but these are the VMA’s for crying out loud. If you are going to show off your curves and figure this is the place to do it!

The red carpet featured a slew of celebrities including rappers, singers, models and of course reality TV vixens. My favorite person to chat with the on red carpet was supermodel Joan Smalls. The Puerto Rican beauty was recently named the no. # 1 model in the world. Trust me when I tell you that she deserves every bit of that title. She is STUNNING. No physical flaws at all. Joan is hosting a new show on MTV called MTV House of Style and was at the VMA’s to promote it. She told me that she had to jet out of LA right after the VMA’s to attend New York Fashion Week. She better WERQ!

Also on the red carpet, I spotted the ex-wives of singers R. Kelly and Prince. The ladies both star in a new VH-1 show called Hollywood Exes. They told me that it was nice to attend the VMA’s in their own right without their famous ex-lovers. Their reality show on VH-1 is really cute, no bitchy drama just women facing adult issues. Check it out when you can, I really dig it!

Comedian Kevin Hart hosted the VMA’s this year and if I am to be VERY honest with you, he did a decent job. Not great, but decent. As someone who was sitting in the audience I can tell you that a lot of the jokes kinda went flat with the audience. I don’t know if it was a case of bad nerves from the funny man but the vibe just wasn’t all the way there with him. Since this was his first time hosting the VMA’s, I will give him a pass. But next year, dude has got to step it up.

Speaking of short, singer Alicia Keys debuted her new short haircut onto the world stage in her first performance of her new track “Girl on Fire”. The song is really starting to grow on me and hearing it live just kinda did it for me. I LOVE it. Nicki Minaj also joined Mrs. Swizz Beatz onstage for the rap portion of the song.

The Young Money rapstress walked past me to get to the stage and I know I am stating the obvious but y’all her booty is HUGE. I mean I was a little taken back by that size of that thang. I know I should be focusing on her musical prowess but that girl’s behind is ginormous. The performance also featured Olympic champ Gabby Douglas doing her gymnastics set so that was a nice a little touch.

While the show was happening, I took a little restroom break and bumped into an R&B superstar in the hallway. Ne-Yo looked at me and said, “Wow, I really love your hair”. I have to tell you, that really made me smile. I was already having a great day but hearing him say that just made me so deliriously happy. Feels good to have nappy hair in Hollywood, makes you really stand out.

One of the biggest stories of the night was revealing what could quite possibly be the worst kept secret in history. Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa are having a baby! Who are we kidding here? Stevie Wonder could have seen that. The way that Amber was rubbing her belly in recent pictures and wearing loose clothing, it was obvious that she was with child. Congrats are in order for the couple, they really seemed to be glowing!

The other big story of the night was the supposed reunion of Chris Brown and Rihanna. The cameras caught the two in an embrace during a break and that quickly lit up the Internet streets, namely twitter and Facebook. Now after Rihanna’s interview with Oprah, I will also admit to raising an eyebrow to their re-union. Did you see the little pat on the head that Rihanna gave to Chris after their embrace?

Look at the pictures folks, love all is over her face. By the way, I missed Ri-Ri’s performance of “Cockiness” and I am really bummed about that. That is one of my favorite tracks on the album. Glad she ended her set with “We Found Love”, I heard the crowd really loved that.

I had a great time in LA attending the VMA’s, I almost sad that my journey in LA is over. With appearances from Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne, 2Chainz, Frank Ocean, Green Day and so many more talented artists this year’s VMA was a resounding success. If you are a fan of music regardless of genre, then I insist that you tune in to the show this weekend.
