Brandy’s Back With TWO ELEVEN!

October 21, 2012 by

Brandy’s long awaited album Two Eleven was released in South Africa on Tuesday 16 October 2012,  after a 4 year long wait.

Shame man, she wanted to release this album in 2010 under Jay-z’s Management Company but that did not work out, subsequent to being dropped from her Record label as well. The album’s title is taken from Brandy’s birthday; it is also the day on which her idol, mentor and friend, Whitney Houston died. The 33 year old Miss Norwood also has an alter ego named Bran’Nu which apparently comes out when she raps. To me B-Rocka seems to be cloning B-eyonce, maybe this illuminati thing does make people rich and famous, if ikhona.

Brandy Royana Norwood, was born February 11, 1979. She has been singing since kudala wethu, I thought I was a fan of Brandy until I got into a “contest” with my friend Lavern, he beat me with his hands down and tied on his back. The talk about this Album would be at the heart of our conservations if we are not talking about isijolo and life nje. When the CD hit the stores my friend had already placed an order.

Album tracks and thoughts:

1. Intro

2. Wildest Dreams is her 2nd single, it’s a song that needs understanding of Brandy’s life and its ups and downs because with luck not being on her side ,she felt her music career was coming to an end.

3. So Sick, is a vibey kinda song.

4. Slower, which she co-wrote with Brown Shuga’s man Chris Brown, is a sexy song. Good for setting a love making mood. hehe

5. No Such Thing As Too Late, this song mara *weeps*! This is a typical Brandy song. Beautiful lyrics and the sound of her ever maturing voice takes you through the emotions. The song is real, she talks about herself and on the 2nd verse you can hear her voice get stronger and powerful.

6. Let Me Go, is a hippy song but fun to listen to.

7. Without You, is just nje. I think I need to listen to it some more, so that it can grow on me.

8. Put It Down, (featuring Chris Brown), which you all know. I love it when Breezy says “Girl you know I got a big ego” pointing somewhere.

9. Hardly Breathing, another beautiful song, the best song on the album I reckon. To me it’s like she is singing “Love wouldn’t count me out” beautiful on this song. She says “this old heart of mine won’t let u break it not again. Hurt too many times and I can’t take it, not again. Coz I am Hardly Breathing, one more teary eye or sleepless night just might kill this heart of mine”

10. Do You Know What You Have?, it’s a beautiful ballad, slow but hip hoppy at some stages

11. Scared of Beautiful, written by MR Out of The Closet, Frank Ocean, ba re it’s hot in the closet. None the less it’s a beautiful ballad but hip at some stages as well.

12. Wish Your Love Away, it talks about a mad black woman. I still need to understand it.

13. Paint This House, I’m starting to like this one.

14. Outro

As I was listening to the Album i felt i was hearing a different Brandy breed, her music is a bit up tempo she is rapping as well. Everything about this album is new, New Record Label, writers and producers. So if you are looking for a Brandy with a different sound, give this Album a bash.

All Brandy does for me is whisper.

Put her, Ciara, Toni Braxton and Aliyaah together and all you get is ichoir yamahansi.

  7. BongaPercy on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 7:25 am

Hau Zoe! Are you serious? Kwaaaaakwakwakwakwa! Ave ukhohlakele bo. I-choir yama hansi? Did you not just mean Janet and Ciara?

  8. Zoe on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 7:29 am

@BP: Yes, Janet too! How could I forget her?

Yazi I don’t bother myself with these ‘musicians’.
Just can’t subject myself to such.

  9. Silvio on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 8:00 am

@Baby luv, I think one of here best works is Never Say Never

    @Sparrow, Nodding

@BongePercy, i hope the “aluminati” is goign to help her make this album a success.

@Ezzy, She is gug but ZOE thinks otherwise.

@Zoe, you cannot put Toni Braxton with those girls, she is in Mariah/Whitney/Celine League. those are babies, she forms her lyrics pretty well.

@BongaPercy is correct by saying Ciara with Janet yes but they can hold notes.

the only girl to me that cant sing is Jennifer Lopez and i dont even own a copy of her music. i dont know how she even made it to judge poeple tht sing a hell lot better than her.

@Zoe, which artist/musician do you think does it good #justcurious

  10. Zoe on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 8:06 am

@Silvio: I can and I am. Was just voicing out my thoughts. Go group Toni with Andrea Boccelli (sp) for all I care – see if I’ll argue with you.

Ey people like thinking the world rotates around their opinions.

  11. Silvio on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 8:30 am

@Zoe, i thought i was airing my views as well. i guess your views are better than others.

group Andrea Bocelli with Amel Larrieux.

  12. Zoe on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 8:33 am

That’s the thing – air yours and let mine be.

Group them with them God and check the worry in my punctuation marks.

    Thank you.

Thx for the album review even though it looks rushed. Luv me some Brandy. Been staning hard for her since Full Moon when I was in Matric. Her last two albums were so under-appreciated. Now she’s all over the place. Suddenly everyone’s looking up. God’s timing never misses a beat hey. So far read about 11 reviews including the big ones boma Billboard, Amazon, NY Times, etc and they all praising this album. First time I’m hearing bout this bad review. My fav songs so far are ALL OF THEM. Play it in my car, office n at home. Would love to see her in SA performing live.

  23. Biskiti on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 2:14 pm

Kwaaa Brandy’s music is too nice, she knows she ain’t a Whitney or Mariah, and sticks to the low notes and whispering…lol

Hei mara the photoshop on the cd sleeve, for a sec i though i was paging through Bona magazine.

Brandy personifies consistency nje, all her albums have had the same feel even though you can appreciate her maturity with each album. Never say Never le Full Moon are my best Brandy Albums ever…the preceeding albums were also not too bad.

Toni o itshwanna le Brandy, they play very well with their limitations. JLO is in the same league as aboLetta Mbulu.

  24. asanwababe on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 2:38 pm

I loved Brandy’s Never say never. I related to so many of those songs in the days of my youth, especially “Have you ever”. All those mad crushes I had. I haven’t really listened to the rest of her albums much. But she’s definitely in a league above Ciara.

ULira guys, I have tried. She just does nothing for me. She deserves a special spot in that choir, according to me.

  25. Eyh2Jee on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 2:38 pm

Lamo Biskiti at —>”JLO is in the same league as aboLetta Mbulu.”

  26. Hunt on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 2:43 pm

  27. Eyh2Jee on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 2:53 pm

  28. asanwababe on Mon, 22nd Oct 2012 3:03 pm

@Hunt, how did I forget uNhlanhla? Kwaaaaaa at amahans, hansi.

@Eyh2Jee, do you even call what Chomee is doing “umculo”?
It’s too bad you don’t need great talent to make it big. Life is unfair.
