MTV Base VJ Search – Down To The Final 3
October 7, 2012 by Just Curious News
If you’ve been following the MTV Base VJ Search, here is information on the finalists and how you can vote for the winner who will be announced on the 20th
NALEDI @Leddi_G
Cape Town born and bred, Naledi Radebe is currently a student at UCT studying Film, Media & Politics although she still finds time to do promotional work and dabble as a freelance writer.
Naledi (21), who loves to listen to AKA, Petite Noir and Zaki Ibrahim, is inspired by anything strange and beautiful – so much so that she has those very words tattooed on her shoulder blades. She looks for these qualities everywhere – in people, art, music – it is the mantra of her life!
We asked Naledi why she thinks she is right to be MTV’s next VJ and she said, “I bring fashion, music and presenting together. I’m a good representation of urban youth culture, I’m visually expressive- viewers would never be bored with my appearance because I change my look so often. I represent what is being reflected in the music of today, my musical taste is so versatile and you can put me in any scenario- my nature is to adapt without compromising the essence of my character. I’m up-to-date if not ahead of trends and MTV base is the kind of channel that brands itself on repping people ahead in the game. Why not have a presenter who emulates that?
NOMUZI @NoMoozlie

Nomuzi Mabena, nicknamed Moo-zlie! or Mooz hails from Benoni and currently lives in Randburg, and she is currently studying Communication Sciences at VarsityCollege in Sandton.
A sassy and tenacious Virgo, Nomuzi’s personal motto is “Ad astra per aspera”or “to the stars through adversity” and the 20-year old is personally inspired by the idea that nothing is impossible. “Just the thought that I could do more and be more. It’s always been so intriguing to me. I’m always going above and beyond, just to see how far I can really push myself.”
A dedicated house music fan, Nomuzi’s song of the moment is Rulf Gum ft Monique Bingham – “Take me to my love”. Passionate about fashion, Nomuzi makes her style choices depending on how she’s feeling when she gets up but rocks her own street style with a lot of African influences. But whatever she’s wearing, she does it in heels… all day, every day!
Talking about her chances in the VJ search, Nomuzi says, “The continent of Africa is definitely on the path to huge music success around the world and it is certainly our time to shine and in terms of my hustle in the television industry I’ve been working hard to get where I am now and even further. I believe I truly represent the spirit of an African hustler and I feel like that’s exactly what MTV Base needs in their new VJ. I’ve worked hard for this, I’m good at this and I want it with every single part of me. I feel like people around the continent could relate to me and if I make it, it would be a win for everyone who has a dream. I may end up presenting the shows by myself but I’d do it with the people in mind. At the end of the day Africa is all about the people and I’m definitely for the people.”
NOMZAMO @NomzamoMbatha

Cape Town-based accounting student Nomzamo Mbatha was born in KwaMashu, north of Durban. The bubbly 22-year old is famous among her friends as being full of life, with tons of personality, a big heart and the gift of the gab – there’s just no way to shut her up! While still at school she used to be invited to speak at other schools around Durban and was subsequently invited to become Madam Speaker in the KZN Youth Parliament:
Cancerian Nomzamo finds inspiration in people, music and her family and is passionate about music and entertainment. A huge Beyoncé fan, Nomzamo loves to listen to pretty much every genre of music but especially Reggae/ RnB/Kwaito and Gospel!
When it comes to fashion, Nomzamo has an eye for anything edgy – as long as it is also comfortable, and complements her figure; she holds a special place in her heart for statement pieces…something that says: “I have arrived!”
Why should you pick Nomzamo? According to her, “I am a talented fresh face, humble, relevant, relatable, authentic and passionate individual. An inquisitive, knowledgeable and just a funky little ball of sunshine who has her priorities straight and captures people with her infectious laughter and smile. I’m the girl next door with a touch of feminine cool.”

I really hope Nomuzi wins. I’m tired of seeing her on my TV for all these auditions. This year alone nje she auditioned for, Live then My Top Billing dream, and manje MTV. She’s extremely hungry for TV. Guys please get voting, or should I ask Mablerh to do for her what he did for Khaya Mthethwa? The Votathon? Besides Moooooo – Zlie, is a nice person. She deserves to win. Kunini
