Musicians As TV Presenters..
October 2, 2012 by Brown Shuga
Is this a step back or step up?
I’m asking because Bow Wow has just been announced as a presenter on music count down show, 106 and Park. The reaction from the American public has been less than glorious, with some asking if he was doing that because the sales weren’t coming in.
One of the comments:
” dominating the countdown to hosting the countdown HAS to be hustling backwards. but hey, whatever pays the bills right?!”
Another:
“Bow Wow was officially announced as a host for 106 & Park. Swing low, sweet chariot.”
This got us thinking, in South Africa, this would have been a huge achievement met with messages of heartfelt congratulations.
Why the difference?

Who like warras? From dj to liveamp presenter? But then again Dineo/MoFlava doing the same, Slikour & Noluthando, Howza, Rebecca Malope, so giving us a platform to complain aint going to do us much justice. Shwi should be the presenter of imizwilili don’t you think?

The dynamics are different in the US. Music is far more profitable than tv presenting…. Whereas lana it’s the opposite, SAns don’t buy music, so when a musicians moonlights on TV he’s guaranteeing a pay-cheque. when a guy who was supposed to being a star goes from climbing up the charts to presenting them, wooo shem.
Phela, here in SA 50,000 copies of a CD sold in a year is a heck of an achievement. With them, it’s a major flop… So Bow Wow has officially failed at music so he’s moved to presenting it so he can atleast still attend industry gigs without being a has-been. Hayi, ku-rough. Personally, I respect his hustle.
