Slikour Talks About Love

I don’t need to tell you that break ups are the worst. They can sink you into a hole of self-pity that can affect your professional and personal life. I don’t want that for myself or family and yet only a year ago I was a heartbeat away from being consumed by that darkness.

Till I met a friend Amanda Du Pont who said all the right things to motivate me to find love again, but this time with myself. It was a process because like a lot of us I’m always trying to find reaffirmation and in the process I’ve learnt to love things for what they are and not for what I wanted them to be.

Hence #Slikouronlove lends itself to my new song, a song that talks about not losing hope in love, “I Got You” ft. Tia Black.

I shot the video in new York and Joburg. The lead girl for the video was supposed to be another model that never used to switch her cell phone on, smh, but coincidentally Amanda was in SA and she was game.

Her words reaffirmed my thinking and helped me move myself from darkness to light. #Slikouronlove are words and thoughts I’ve felt ever since I started dating.

Maybe my words won’t move you from your darkness to light but hopefully they’ll make you appreciate the light you have and make you understand you’re not alone, we all feel lost and hopeless sometimes. We all want to be happy and get this love thing right. It’s precious and it’s maybe the reason why we were all born and life is such a powerful thing so imagine how much power love has.

If you haven’t found it, it’s worth waiting for.

If you have it, it’s worth fighting for.
