Spotted at Taboo’s 9th Birthday Party

October 9, 2012 by

I am not into clubbing and my reasons are far too many to mention but when I got an invite to the 9th Birthday of Taboo nightclub in Sandton, I accepted and it was perfect considering it was on a Saturday.

I had told myself that I was gonna be there for an hour max, then head home but you know what? me and my ‘bodyguards’ or should I say Entourage were there till 5am. (Don’t judge). I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun at a nightclub. We were in the VVIP area and we were treated like those rich people from that other club that I will not mention. Lol.

It was the first time for me going to a nightclub and really feeling the VIP that is always stated on our invites. Usually with nightclubs events/parties, the invite will say VIP, but when you get there you are told you are not allowed to sit on the couches unless you buy some expensive bottle of something and that is if all the tables don’t have the reserved sign on them. So for some of us non drinkers we stay losing as we will be treated like trash and forced to stand by the crowded dance floors where you can’t even breathe let alone take pics. Well this time we were the ones on a reserved table all thanks to publicist Farah Fortune of African Star for hooking us up.

There were a few celebs that I spotted but it was mostly Soccer Players that were in our area. I asked Benni McCarthy for a picture and he refused shem. He said he will only agree to a picture if I take it with him and also use my phone and not the JC camera. He said he was not posing for any publications. I then asked Blayze to take a picture of us using his phone, till now I’m asking myself what the difference was really and I don’t have an answer. Who told Benni that if you use a mobile to take a picture one won’t publish it? I was so tempted to put it up but because I like him and the fact that he wasn’t rude, I will respect his wishes. Lol

Anyway, a lot of the soccer players refused to pose for pictures except for Sibusiso Zuma. I had to pass an interview with this lady he was with for me to get this one though. She grilled me with questions and even googled Just Curious. Ja neh! Ku tough for us sometimes.

Spotted Babalwa Mneno having a ball as usual.

Brand Ambassador and Artist Dylan ‘Blayze’ King was there too. (Thank you for the Benni pic)

Some of my bodyguards, Model Sifiso Ndlovu with Matt Khatso.

Musician Tamara Dey was there too.

I saw the DJ dude from Generations chilling by the corner and I asked for a pic for JC, he agreed. Pity I couldn’t ask for his name because he had company. So I went on Google and the only ‘Generations DJ’ that came up was DJ Lulu. Sigh!

Still on DJs, this dude called GrandMaster Flash deserves an award for his mix on that night. This American brother kept us on the dance floor and he was playing our own music. African music and he nailed it! Big up to him. I hear he is the Hip-Hop DJ who invented the Crossfader, which allows DJ’s to switch from one song to the next effortlessly. He is also in the B.E.T hall of fame. Talk about a LEGEND!

Abom’rapper were there in full force. L-tido with the lady he arrived with.

SAMA winner Amu was there to have a good time and he sure did. Deathby the pose.

I asked hip hop artist Tumi for a picture and told him I work for JC, he didn’t want to pose. I begged him and he gave in. He said ‘Your bloggers better not come up with some, ‘Tumi needs to hlasela mafutha’. So looking at his middle finger on this picture I don’t know if that was directed to ME or to you guys. Either way I died when he spoke about Hlasela Mafutha. Kwaaaaaaaa

Thank you so much for a job well done African Star. We really had fun, you took care of us. Happy 9th Birthday Taboo. Very soon we celebrate a decade.

There’s actually nothing wrong with those thighs, we cant all have TOOTHPICKS for thighs hey.
She has beautiful thighs, thick and no cellulite but U DONT wear shorts with those thighs, u just dont. Now thats where my problem is, its not with thighs themselves, its what she’s wearing on the thighs that size!

  49. nomthwalo on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 8:59 am

  57. Biskiti on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 9:17 am

I think Barbz was just channelling Beyonce’s “party” energy nje, and i reckon she pulled it off quite nicely. It was a party afterall, not a gala dinner. Mara she’s got many faces le yena, fresh like Bee on some pics, tired baggy eyes like Mme Abigail Khubeka on others. Haishhh, consistency Mmamogolo!

Babalwa is 34 , mara this pic here says 51. http://www.iol.co.za/the-star/that-was-the-real-me-out-there-on-bb-1.1327473

Is that what thst age does to people. Dear God I want to be 33 for 3 years then turn 36 after that. No 34 for me please.

Jokes aside though. I am just concerned. This picture screams “I have psychological problems” to me more than “I want attention”.

Does she have a boyfriend? or a fiance?
Does she want to get married?or even believe in such unions? Does she want kids? who does she stay with?
How old are her friends? what are they busy with in their lifes
Does she flaunt and brag about her money-if she has any?
Does she ever talk about how happy she is in her life?
Does she ever talk about the things she regrets doing or not doing?
How is her twitter TL? Is it balanced?

If I can get the answers to these questions, I will diagnose her right now.

Society is really mean on umarried ladies, with no children over the age of 30 strue. Some comments are really mean, some of us have friends and sisters who are not married at that age.Remember one day it could be you in their shoes and young women will be asking you what’s wrong with you as. I saw Barbs’interview on the LGK show, she addressed the issue of people attacking her for not having a a child. She said there are many reasons why people cannot concieve and its sad that other people see it as a joke (not here exact words). I totally understand that is such a sensitive issue because she can choose to wear istomach out but the child issue may be beyond her powers…asibeni nobuntu!

I’d rather Babalwa not have a kid, than raise a kid alone. It’s hard yho!!!

  89. BlindFold on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:34 am

Are we trying to change the minds of the society here? we all know that especially in our culture (black) you are expected to be married and have kids before the age of thirthy otherwise you are called “NYOPA” and “LEFETWA. That will never change whether le ya rata o not.

    Babalwa ke LEFETWA..haao!

  90. thephlyone on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:35 am

Gog’Babalwa is supposedly turning 35 next month..hahahahahaha!!! Can’t be! Makeup can only hide ‘em eyebags n wrinkles 4 so long. Anyways let the ‘kid’ live her life. While ontanga bakhe aboBasetsana Khumalo, Khanyi Dhlomo, Carol Bouwers are working seriously hard and becoming moguls and have families, let her Cocoon’it, Taboo’it, VIP Room’it and Lagos’it!!! We are not all destined for the same paths in life hey. And that’s the reality!!!

  91. OhSoStunning on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:38 am

Aow, i have a sister who is her (Barbs) age and she doesn’t wanna get married nor have kids. If she is comfy with her not having kids, i don’t see why we should have a problem with it. Not everyone wants a “fairytale like ending”..

So @lamar does this mean she has issues tsa kgo thola bana??

This though—->I don’t think Tumi knows the size of his *** I mean with the cooler box that big, what are the chances of him seeing/looking at it?
He must thank God for the mirror.

  94. siya on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:44 am

@Blindfold is she supposed to marry herself? she doesnt have a stable relationship, would you rather have her raise kids in that condition? we all have choices, society will always have something to say, if she were to fall pregnant now angithi nizothi she`s busy popping kids out of wedlock, mnxim

  95. Toffolux on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:47 am

Babu Mahlangu, no we are not perfect, well I know Im not but the difference is I know when to cover up my not-so-perfect body. When you call attention upon yourself, we shall notice & will comment accordingly. Vele usukufuna bakubone

  96. BlindFold on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:49 am

@siya..i would rahter her nothing because i do not know what her problems and challenges are, what i am saying is that we can never change the mind-set of the society.

@Lamar yiko loko nam engikushoyo, asibeni nobuntu hle,

  98. Vesa on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:53 am

We live in an era of making choices, maybe she chose not to have kids. And the marriage one, it’s not always a lady’s fault that she is not married…..you can’t marry yourself or run after everyman so you can be married

Also, it could be that she can’t conceive. We don’t know her reasons. And anyway, we should not impose society’s expectations on her

  99. Jellytot on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 11:55 am

anyways, im not condemning anyone, just encouraging bloggers to remember that these people are also human and have feelings.

  101. BlindFold on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 12:01 pm

@Solomon.Mahlangu..Babalwa knows for a fact that people talk about her and many times not good talk, why go to a party or whatever wearing that? what is she expecting? she is not dressing her age, this is not Hollywood. You cant be wearing stomach out at the age of whatever her age is.

  102. SocietyG on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 12:04 pm

I believe that Babalwa is 35, being a model for so many years and heavy make up can really affect your skin.

If she was not careful back in the days when she started using make up…it’s no surprise that her face has aged so fast.

When Babalwa was popular back in the day I know for a fact I was still in high school. I’m now 30……

so @samlicious when you say “Kunini kwathiwa Babalwa sise primary school now all of a sudden is she in the same age group as us NEVER” maybe it’s not Babalwa’s fault that ufunde umdala…..#NOSHADE

So let Babalwa be….she can wear whatever she wants. She’s not married, no kids, she likes to have fun and maybe she gets along better with the younger peeps….why not?

Gone are the days when people work so damn hard to try and be something else just to meet society’s expectations.

    Live your life Barbs…..

  103. Solomon.Mahlangu on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 12:07 pm

Blindfold come on. is there a law that says people are free to wear anything only in Hollywood? Madona kade edunusa and she is above 50 even Vera Wang wears skimpier things and she is really old.

let the woman live her life, uzozibona yena when she feels its time to behave like the ontanga bakhe… (Basetsana my ultimate couger crush) .

  104. lamarOdom on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 12:22 pm

  111. Sweet soul on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 12:52 pm

I think the bloggers that said she Babalwa needs to get married and have kidz r misunderstood, maybe they are just saying if she had kidz and a husband she wouldn’t party as much as she does, but ke we all know that’s not the case look at Uyanda Mbuli she had both hubby and a kid but that didn’t stop her. I think umuntu akakhuliswa umshado or umtwana, mawumncane encondweni then uzophila nje ngomuntu omcane vele.

  112. vumaaa on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 1:02 pm

    No1 mentioned/commented about Tamara Dey.

Shame the thighs and Barbs took all the spot light.

Ay shame let me mention something about Tamara. “She looked ok”. There you go I’m sure she will be happy now.

    See I’m a good guy.

  113. SocietyG on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 1:03 pm

But @sweetsoul what if Babalwa does not see any problems with partying at her age.

If it’s not a problem for her I don’t see why people continue to go on about it.

We all have choices, if that’s how she has chosen to live her life so be it.

Why compare her with the rest of these ladies. She’s Babalwa, it’s her choice and it’s her life.

I think she also has some business dealings with cocoon(sp) I maybe wrong, anywho even if she did nt ….I mean why not do what you want. She’s not hurting nobody.

  127. Ms Diva on Thu, 11th Oct 2012 1:31 pm

Babalwa is 34 to be 35 sometime this year still. Its easy to get this, i was also of the view that no there is no way she is only 8 years older than i am. she must be way older and i think its because when we were younger and hearing about Bablwa’s we assumed these girls were oSisi as in they were older but in reality it was our assumption just like assumed ppl on TV were rich. If you check the records of the time she entered Miss SA you will see which year it was, how old she was and what was the minimum and maximun age requirement.Lets say for the ppl who will still refuse to blv it, say she lied about her age.there is no way she would have lowered her age beyond the age gap of Miss SA ,so even if she lied to the lowest number we would then say she is 36 today.so Babalwa is authentic 34years old ,besides back then Nigerians were few to make a false ID for her. lol

  128. Ms Diva on Thu, 11th Oct 2012 1:40 pm

Black women have serious issues with each other period. those who are married and miserable with men illtreating them and cheating and having kids outside they still feel that they are better off than the single women, single women who are miserable dating the married men who can’t sleep over or wake up to them every morning feel they better off than the married woman,

then there are single woman who are all struggling trying to find stable love, the ones who are raisig kids cause some bastard left them years ago feel they are still better off than the one who don’t have kids at certain age, the single woman with no kids and has freedom of spending her time the way she does yet she is lonely cause she does not have the “my child ,my joy, my blessing “to play with she feels she is better off than than her single friend who runs around all by herself looking for school for a child.

then both the single woman with no kids- one feels her not stable relationhsip is better off cause she gets money for rent from her uncommitting boyfriend while her single freind who is living with a guy that she is providing for and working for feels she is better off than her friend as well cause she sleeps with him eveyday and they hold hands in town

in Xhosa this is called “Ubutyobo” so ppl must just be allowed to be where they are as you are also where you are. none is better
