What Your Drink Says About You!
October 9, 2012 by Brown Shuga
A month ago, Brutal Fruit announced the launch of their new flavour, Apple Ginger and it got me thinking… will it ever stop? It’s like every season, there’s a new flavour dropping. Hell, even Mageu has flavours, I heard that Zambuk (it’s not a drink) also has flavours. But then again if even condoms have flavours, why shouldn’t Brutal Fruit have flavours.
I haven’t tasted this flavour *hint hint* but I enjoyed the pink one they launched with the Kardashians. When I tasted it of course, coz I don’t drink. (Brutal Fruit, ignore this last bit)
What they said about Brutal Fruit’s Apple Ginger :
“Made from real apple juice and slightly spiced with ginger for a more feisty flavour, with 4.5% alcohol, it is sparkling, crisp and not too sweet.”
It always kills me how they find words to describe taste.. I just can’t.. To me a drink is either sweet or bitter..
Anyway, back to the topic at hand:
How do you prefer your drink? What is your drink of choice and how many can you handle before you forget your name?
I’ll start…
- Wine - Makes me wanna sleep. One sip of red wine and I start getting dizzy.
- Champagne – Makes me wanna be in his arms.. lol
- Cocktails – Make me a bit more talkative than the usual quiet me.
My friends prefer me tipsy but honestly I don’t wanna get used to drinking, nor do I ever buy alcohol because it’s just not me. Drinking once or twice a year is enough, so shem my friends will have to enjoy those special moments while they last.
So… according to Men’s Health, this is What Your Drink Says About You:
Domestic Light Beer (Bud Light, Miller Light)
You’re impulsive and quick to take risks. You’re respectful of authority, accepting of most people, and generally easy to get along with. You’re also 34 percent less likely than the average man to buy organic.
Domestic Full-Flavor Beer (Budweiser, Coors Original)
You’re sensible, grounded, and practical. You’re generally middle-of-the-road in your politics, and quick to challenge authority. You’re also 42 percent more likely than the average man to own a truck.
Craft Beer/Imports (Sierra Nevada, Blue Moon, Heineken)
You’re more likely to be politically left leaning, outgoing, and extroverted. You’re intellectually curious and open-minded, and you’re interested in new and varied experiences. You’re 36 percent more likely to enjoy the show The Office, according to a Mindset survey of 2,600 drinkers.
Wine
You’re mature and discerning, and you’re likely an organized professional. You tend to be unadventurous and less likely to take risks. Chances are good you’ve graduated from college. “When a guy orders wine, it makes me think he’s comfortable with himself, and maybe a little more confident than the average guy,” Colli, a bartender, says.
Whiskey
You want to project an image of masculinity and authority. You’re also discerning. Blended whiskey drinkers are more likely to be age 21 to 46, while single-malt drinkers are more likely to be age 50 or older.
Colli the bartender says it’s more about how you order your whiskey than the type you order. “If you order it on the rocks, neat, or with soda, then you’re telling me you genuinely enjoy that liquor because you’re not trying to mask its taste,” he says.
Vodka
You enjoy being in charge. You care about fashion and appearance, and you’re both opinionated and independent.
Bartender says: “It seems upscale and appealing if you order it on the rocks or in a martini. Men who order vodka with soda are probably trying to lose weight.”
Gin
You have a realistic outlook on life, and you appreciate comfort and security. You’re interested in relationships, and your focus is on family and home life. “
Bartender says: “This seems like a sophisticated middle-aged man’s drink, I don’t know many young guys that drink gin, but I’m impressed by the ones who do.”
Rum
You’re experimental and creative, and quick to abandon one pursuit in favor of another. You’re more likely than the average man to enjoy jazz and art. You may be slightly eccentric, and you’re often impulsive.
Bartender says: “Bacardi and Captain Morgan are for ladies’ drinks, Dudes should never order them, especially not with Coke.”
Tequila
You’re a free spirit, and you’re unconcerned with achievement in either the short or the long term. You’re outgoing, talkative, and fun to be around.
Bartender says: “There’s nothing wrong with a shot of a good tequila like Patron, But if a guy orders a tequila sunrise, that tells me I need to card him again, because maybe I was wrong and he isn’t 21. Guys who drink straight tequila are awesome and want to party.”
You agree? Let’s hear it from you… on what your drink of choice is and what it says about you.
#TeamOros.

*I buy the whole bottle of Morgan with 2L coke and drink with friends. Hehehe,I wonder “what makes this Bartender say that?
Think I did drink almost all the drinks mentioned.I am starting to think I should quit drinking beer,it makes me feel awful the next day, as compared to other alcoholic drinks.
As for wine: I just feel like having lots of sex, neh. I get turned on by alcohol, its not even funny!
*I never get drunk from that Vodka + cranberry, but it makes me sleep like there’s no tomorrow!

alcohol nhe! I was never a drinker until Joburg happened to me. When I started I loved my wine, natural sweet Four Cousins, then i went on to Vodka, i enjoyed cocktails then ciders, red square and alles. Right now I have quit alcohol for good. I’d been trying to quit because i had become an alcoholic. The last time I had alcohol i almost died and i knew that it was indeed time to stop.
I had black outs something that had never happened. I was always the one who will drink more than everyone but remain standing, i never did anything drunk that i wouldnt do sober but that day ncncncn. I drove from Honeydew(where i stay) to Cresta instead of driving from my friend’s place which is 5 mins away from my place. The friend i was with who was also drunk told me we were in Cresta and only when i saw World Wear did i realise and i don’t remember how i got home from there. I burst a trye, bent a rim, bumped the car at the back, threw up in the car all i don’t know how and i’d never done any of those in my entire drinking life.
When i was cleaning up the mess the following day with a hang over from hell and looking at the damage done to the car i knew God had given me a second chance and if i play with it next time im gonna die. I can never go back to drinking one or two glasses which i did when i started because right now i know very well the feling of being drunk and i enjoyed that feeling so it’s not possible for me now to drink and not get drunk so i had to QUIT!

The day that happened maybe I will stop but for now…*bottomsup bottomsup* Lol
What do they say about tequilla and redbull cos its my favourite at the moment?
Nerlee on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 3:04 am
Shame man @Lela, good that you made a choice to stop. iJozi iza ne pressure ne!
Mna shame I only do alcohol @church ngomthendeleko qha, the things most women do when drunk has always made me believe that alcohol is not for women (am not judging)
bumbum on Wed, 10th Oct 2012 4:13 am
I did Brutal Fruit for the 1st time when I was in Grade 11 and I threw up on the bus ngathi anever shame unganya. I don’t like something that will embarrass me and from that day until today I’ve never touched alcohol expect that wine they serve us from church once a month.
I always tell people that choices we make are not determined by who we hang with, all my friend do alcohol but I never felt the pressure that I must all go with the flow. I’m their designated driver ke so I have fun with them and masebefuna ukulahla ngiba shova emotweni.

Alcohol, know your limit! I’ve heard stories of girls getting drunk, waking up naked in people’s beds. WTF? Why are you drinking if you can’t control it?
Personally, I think I’ve drank enough for one life time. Infact, I drank last night. Will drink after exams, I’ll quit in January. Can’t say I’ve got a favorite drink, but its never drinking for me until I have 3 shots of patron
